If you have a Virtuoso or Maestro Plus, your knob is metal and may be quite stiff. You can remove it by prying gently.

The case is secured by 4 snap clips that are near the bottom- 2 clips on the side with the knob and 2 on the opposite side.

The clips are released by inserting a wedge to lift the case away from the chassis. A flathead screwdriver is great for this.

All 4 clips must be released for the case to slide up and off the chassis.

These are the snap clips. Two on this side and two on the opposite side.

Here, the case is removed slightly to expose snap clips.

Male Clip. Latches onto female clip inside case.

Pry gently beneath metal knob to remove if too stiff to pull.

Insert the screwdriver in the gap between the base and the case. Gently wedge the screwdriver to separate the case and the base slightly.

Continue to keep the case and base separated with the screwdriver, and gently pull the top of the case up. This will prevent the released clips from snapping together, as they will not be aligned with each other.

Remove the screwdriver and repeat with the second clip on that side.

After releasing both clips on one side, the case will be lifted slightly on that side.

Carefully reposition and repeat for the second side. If you hear the clips snap together, repeat as needed until all 4 clips are released.

Case is free of snap clips

The wedging motion presses down on male clip while lifting female clip.

After the 4 clips are released, gently pull the case up and off the chassis.

Installing the case is the reverse of removal. Guide the case down gently as far as it will go. Avoid catching on any wires or the switch stem. Press down evenly on the top of the case to seat the snap clips. All 4 clips will audibly snap into place.

PART TWO: Re-installing the case.

Grasp case at the top “collar” and pull up while holding the unit down at the base.

After your case is snapped back on, check for minor misalignments.

On the Encore, press down on the “shoulders” of the machine.

On the Virtuoso, check the front pulse button bracket.

The adjustment ring may be wedged under the case. If so, simply “push” the unstuck side.

If you have any questions, or encounter problems with this guide, please reach out to Baratza Support at [email protected]

The pulse button may be stuck just out of alignment.

These are the “shoulders” of the grinder.
