HOW TO BE A CHEERLEADER
BY ERIN CARLOS
Step1. Do the basics
Be on the same count as your team mates. This makes your routine look cleaner.
Here are some examples
This happens when you’re on time
This is what happens when you’re off time
Step2. Practice
When you practice it makes you better at your dance. It’s important to practice with your team mates so that you can get the routine right.
Step3. Learn the routine
If you learn the routine then you can become these
cheerleaders.
You want to become them because they’re smiling and they’re on time. This can be you. It doesn’t matter if you are a girl or boy you can be a cheerleader.
Step4-5. Smile and Don't be nervous
If you smile you show confidence in yourself. If you are nervous just breathe and go on. If you smile and show spirit in your team, than you feel more confident in yourself so you are not so nervous.
This is what you get judged on
at a competition
• Jumps + 5• Tumbling + 5 • Stunts + 5• Voice + 5• Content + 20• Appearance + 5 • Overall performances + 20• Improper spotting -10• Improper stunting-10• Improper movement -10• Deductions– • Total points – • Grand total –
Why is cheer not considered a sport?
In order for an activity to be considered a sport, “The primary purpose is competition verses other teams or individuals within a competition structure comparable to other ‘athletic’ activities.”
According to this quote from varsity.com, cheering is not a sport because the purpose is to cheer the team on. Competing is the second purpose of cheerleading.
My Opinion on cheering
My opinion is that cheer is a sport because if you have fun and you enjoy it, then to me it’s a sport. Also it’s main purposes it to cheer on the team but some people do rec cheer and do competing cheer. If you like a sport that much than go ahead and try it.
Thanks for watching
