PUT THE EMPLOYEE FIRSTPut the employee first when assessing employee
experience, wellbeing and engagement.
EMPLOYEE-ORIENTATION
EASTWAY UNIVERSITYOF SOCIAL SCIENCES WWW.EUSS.EDU
How do we do that???
EASTWAY UNIVERSITYOF SOCIAL SCIENCES WWW.EUSS.EDU
Could it be as simple as
asking about their personal
experience?
EASTWAY UNIVERSITYOF SOCIAL SCIENCES WWW.EUSS.EDU
That is: Directly ask them
how they feeeel.
EASTWAY UNIVERSITYOF SOCIAL SCIENCES WWW.EUSS.EDU
Without asking what they
want to see improved, yet.
That comes later. First, ask:
‘What is it like foryou generally day-by-day, to work at
ABC company?’
EASTWAY UNIVERSITYOF SOCIAL SCIENCES WWW.EUSS.EDU
However:
Asking people that kind of
question may ring alarm bells.
They may feel suspicious why HR
is asking them such an unusual
question. They might fear they
are under review.
EASTWAY UNIVERSITYOF SOCIAL SCIENCES WWW.EUSS.EDU
(Such a shame that we’ve lost the spirit
of asking each other how we feel.)
EASTWAY UNIVERSITYOF SOCIAL SCIENCES WWW.EUSS.EDU
Allow employees to understand that it's
the company under review, not them.
EASTWAY UNIVERSITYOF SOCIAL SCIENCES WWW.EUSS.EDU
And let’s put some structure around it
with an indexing tool:

(Feel free to adapt and make use of the
Index. A printable template and user-
guide is available at:
