Forms of interaction today

You can either let the presentation go, or click to a certain topic, or click the next slide button.2

Online InteractionPublicly known:You act more normal and kindYou are constantly in contact with someoneMore for popular online people i.e. YouTubers, Live streamers, etc.Like talking with family and friendsYou would not be rude to them.

Anonymous: You can be as nice or as mean as you wantNo one can see your namePeople take it to far and can hurt peopleRemain unknown to peoplePeople only see username

VS

Explain what a YouTuber and a Liver streamer does if needed. 3

Example of a popular youtuber (Markiplier)

Mark (Markiplier) Fischbach is a famous YouTuber who does long livestreams at intervals to raise money for multiple charities. So far he has raised millions of dollars for different charities in the span of his channels lifetime. He even dies his hair for charity as shown in the video.DISCLAIMER: Mark does curse a little in his videos and streams, but he tires to keep it down if he can. You have been warned.

Click on video to play

Explain what he does and how he brings people together Had to pull livestream from another channel, because Mark usually streams on another website called Twitch.Unfortunately I cannot trim the YouTube video so just watch for about a minute or two and then move on.DISCLAIMER: He does curse a little.4

GamesVideo Games:Online video games brings random people togetherTeaches teamwork and cooperation to complete a taskGet a feel for how real life interactions areMeaning you know what to do in certain situationsFor example in Minecraft you can get people to help you build a house, in real life you do the same. There are people who prefer to play games alonePlaying alone can ether be to relax, or play a game that requires thinking. For instance Phoenix Wright is a game about solving a crime and puzzles along the way.

Explain what kind of situations, and not make the point that life is like a game. In other words, compare a real life situation to a game situation.List some games that requires thinking, or talk about some. Like Angry Birds, Phoenix Wright, etc.5

Long DistanceWith the internet we can interact with people anywhere at anytime! If someone lived in another state or country you can still talk to each other. You can use Skype, Facebook, Email, Text, call them, etc. Some services do charge a fee, but most websites and features are free to useI have friends that I play with online and some are in other states and other are in another country (namely the United Kingdom). So no matter how far someone is, you can keep in touch!

Explain that bad internet can cause issues, but for the most part you can.6

Smartphone convenience We can use it to pay for most anythingIn other words, a technological wallet.Applications that work like real life tools and the likeMaps, GPS, Translators, flashlights, so on and so forth.Stores are now implementing smartphone technologyCheckout lanes now have the option to pay with your phonePlaces are putting in free Wi-Fi for your phonesEasier or harder to do transactions and shop?

Explain why you think both ways on last bullet.7

How people used to interact in the pastLandline phones, or payphonesWrite LettersActually travel to see the personWalk, drive, actually get out of the houseSometimes you would not be able to contact someone.Especially overseas or a long distance away.Depending on the year, there was no internet.

Explain that communication today you can sit inside and talk all day to someone, over actually getting out of the house and seeing each other face to face.Explain that the last bullet means that before current day technology it was sometimes hard to contact people and stay in contact.8

Had to write lettersCompared to today people had to write letters and send them in the mailPeople still do this, just not as oftenAlso, handwriting was better back then than in todays societyPoor grammar from text lingo (instead of laughing out loud, lol)

If you can find examples of a well written paper compared to one full of text lingo.9

Did not have mobile phones, or phones at allDepending on the time zone, there were no telephones.People would have to write and send lettersHoping they would arriveSome people had to walk into town or a long distance just to see or chat with someone. When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone it revolutionized the way people were able to talk to each other.

Without Alex here, we would not have mobile phones.10

No internet?Indeed there was no internet back in the pastAt least until it was invented in between the 1960s and the 1980s.People got by thoughFarmingOutside activitiesReadingGoing to see plays, movies, and much more.People just got out and about, compared to the conveniences we have today.People, in my opinion, were more social and friendly in the past compared to today.

Maybe explain other activities and the like11

Communication downUntil the implementation of the phone and internet, sometimes communication was hard.Wartimes was especially hard to communicate for a multitude of reasonsLetter lost in transitDepending on where letters were sent it would have to go through multiple post servicesLong distance calls sometimes would cut outSome letters may have even been lost in translation if people did not fully understand a languageThis would lead to conflict and blame for being ignorant and rude. For instance trying to write a letter in Spanish and not knowing the language at all.

Explain that some words and gestures are offensive in other languages and countries.12

Past vs PresentPast:People were more friendly and talkativeLess hassle of dealing with multiple and confusing technologyHealthier cause they got outside moreFor the most part paid with paper money and checks.Present:More communication, but mixed on whether it is friendly or insultingLike someone gets offended and rants about it on a social media siteA ton of technology that might be confusing for older people, and even newcomers to technology.Varied healthPeople stay inside and stay on the Internet with games, social media, etc.Do not get out and about due to unlike communicationsElectronic money makes it easier to pay for thingsBut at the risk of being hacked and ID theft.

Explain why interactions in the past are a little better than they are now13

ConclusionTechnology today does make it easier to communicate, pay for things, and interact with each other. The only downside is that with online communication being anonymous at times, that can lead to people acting rude and mean to each other due to people not being able to know who you really are. The ease of paying for things electronically and even being able to talk to anyone anywhere is good, because you can not only talk to people long distance, but if you visit them you can pay for things as well. All in all present day technology makes it easier to interact with a multitude of people, but you have to be responsible and respectful towards others when you are using these forms of technology.

Ask audience if they have any questions14
