Cardiology is Complicated,Technology Shouldn’t Be.

Built for cardiologistsby cardiologists.

How a group of cardiologists are changing heart careA few years ago, several frustrated cardiologists discussed the many challenges they and their patients faced in their industry.

Without a specialized heart database, cardiologists often find themselves spending a lot of time scanning paperwork and digging through graphs and health records to try to evaluate a patient’s condition. If a patient had been treated at a different hospital or medical center, important pieces of their history — prescriptions they had taken, even the outcomes of surgeries — were sometimes inaccessible altogether.

This meant doctors had no easy way to record and compare heart data, the kind of information that in the most serious cases can help determine whether a critical prescription or procedure could save someone’s life.

Those same cardiologists ultimately did what doctors do best -- they figured out an effective treatment plan to alleviate those issues.

A team of cardiovascular specialists developed EHR software and diagnostic tools to efficiently manage vital patient information for cardiology practices, ultimately founding Objective Medical Systems. This niche technology has been able to streamline the work of cardiologists and reduce human error, as well as save time and money for both the doctors and the patients.

Objective Medical Systems caters to the busy cardiology practice or hospital service line looking for a cardiovascular information system providing structured reporting across all diagnostic modalities. In addition, OMS offers a Stage 2 certified electronic health record built from the ground up for cardiology specialists. By maintaining a narrow focus on cardiology, OMS is able to offer an elaborate, powerful, and user-intuitive solution built for cardiologists by cardiologists.

Accurately document procedural findings inthe cath lab.

Efficiently document and report non-invasiveprocedures with no dictation, transcriptionor free-text typing. (ICAEL, ICANL and ICAVL compliant)

Quickly review diagnostic studies, labs, allergies, meds, and clinic schedule.

All patient data represented in this document is fictitious. No real PHI is being presented.

Single unified platform to document echocardiogram, myocardial perfusion imaging, vascular ultrasound, holter, ABI, cardiac catheterization procedures and more.

OMS CARDIOLOGY SUITE

Objective Medical Systems provides cardiologists a best in class cardiovascular information system.

• OMS Cardiology Suite offers comprehensive reporting on a total of 15 cardiovascular modalities, encompassing both invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tests.

• OMS Cardiology Suite may be used to make your existing clinic or hospital based EHR much better suited for cardiology.

WhAT IS UnIqUE ABOUT OMS?

OMS was designed from the ground up by practicing cardiologists.

Furthermore, OMS interfaces directly with medical devices, analyzing thousands of discrete data elements in the background to provide the physician with actionable intelligence at the point of care. In turn, OMS creates an ICAEL, ICAVL, and ICANL compliant report for echo, vascular ultrasound, myocardial perfusion imaging et al., while eliminating dictation, transcription and free-text typing.

The system receives data from dicom compliant medical devices. Once the data is received by the OMS, it consults the appropriate reference range of values from its default database and generates the ICANL, ICAEL or ICAVL compliant report in real time. Reference ranges may be customized based on client preference.

Nuclear Impression• This is an abnormal perfusion study.• This scan is suggestive of moderate risk for future cardiovascular events.• The left ventricular cavity is noted to be markedly enlarged on the stress study. The

left ventricular ejection fraction was calculated to be 73% and the left ventricular global function is normal.

• There is evidence of abnormal lung activity in stress studies. There is evidence of abnormal RV myocardium activity in stress studies.

• Stress ECG is discordant with perfusion study; need clinical correlation.

• OMS eliminates the need to dictate, transcribe or type diagnostic reports.• By interfacing directly with medical devices, OMS increases efficiency and eliminates

errors caused by manual entry.• The most efficient, intuitive way to document diagnostic procedures on the market today.

Increase quality and throughput while eliminating frustration.• CANL, ICAEL and ICAVL compliant.• 100% intra and inter-modality comparison of diagnostic data.• Built in capability to capture Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC).

Intra-modality comparison (Echocardiogram)This echocardiogram when compared with the latest echocardiogram-TTE (Heart Clinic) dated 2/26/2013 shows:1. Ejection fraction remains unchanged (45%).2. Increased left atrium size from mildly increased to moderately increased is noted in the current study.3. Mitral valve area by pressure halftime essentially remained unchanged (3.67 cm2 previous study, 3.73

cm2 current study).

OMS MOBILEThe OMS Mobile Platform will allow physicians to review critical patient information directly from an iOS Device. The capabilities include the review of diagnostic studies, labs, allergies and meds, as well as the clinic schedule. In addition, the physician will be able to dictate directly into the device, with voice recognition transcribing the dictation and seamlessly synchronizing with the EHR. Due to the unique nature of the OMS diagnostic reporting solution, dictation is not necessary for invasive and non-invasive procedures.

1. The UI design and workflow is architected by practicing cardiologists and designed to support cardiovascular outpatient clinic requirements

2. Risk stratification of patients based on cardiovascular risk assessment tools3. Discrete data based design. More than 4000 discrete data elements from OMS Diagnostics and additional

1000 + data elements from OMS EHR tightly integrated unified database.4. Cardiovascular studies generated in OMS Cardiovascular diagnostics module can be viewed and signed

off from within OMS EHR5. Integrated database with OMS Diagnostic module. Capable of generating clinical decision rules integrating

both clinical and diagnostic data elements6. Clinical Quality Measures (CQM’s) specifically chosen to assist cardiovascular care settings7. Built in form factors like Templates, Voice dictation, Voice transcription, Text type8. Integrated with Intelligent Medical Objects ® for ICD-9/10 and CPT codes to assist CPOE. Integrated with

Surescripts ® for eRx, refill requests, Rx history and formulary. Integrated with Nuance 360 voice recognition to enable seamless dictation and real time transcription. Integrated with Updox ® for direct message exchange. Integrated with First Databank ® for drug database search

9. OMS iOS app integrated with Nuance. Ability to review the chart, dictate into the chart as well as finalize reports. (Product being completed)

Cardiovascular medicine is on the cusp of an exciting transition towards data integration, analytics and real time patient surveillance.

In 2010, the CDC reported that the total costs of cardiovascular diseases in the United States were estimated to be $444 billion with the treatment of these diseases accounting for about $1 of every $6 spent on health care in this country.

Given this huge cost outlay, the information technology sector has to evolve products, services and delivery models that improve data services and enable physicians to manage their patient populations with less risk and higher quality at a lower cost.

In a world where medical software is systemically plagued by complexity, OMS is helping cardiologists take back control. Created by and for cardiologists, allow us to restore your faith in what’s possible.
