Greek boys, that were free citizens, that aren’t criminals and whose city state agreed to the Olympic truce of the games were allowed to participate.

How was the first olympic games different and similar to the modern ones?

• We still have discus, javelin and wrestling. There are many of the same events like races. They were also held every four years. The winner gets an award that is not money. They used to sprint but not 100 metres. They played naked. there were no world records. there were no water or winter sports

Were women allowed to watch the ancientOlympic games?

• only young unmarried women were allowed to watch the games. If any old married women were seen at the games they would be thrown off the closest cliff naked.

How many events are in this years games?

• This year there are 35 sports and nearly 400 events in this years Olympics

What are some of the first games?

• The Javelin throw and the sprint on Mt. Olympus at Athens in Greece.
