The Story of Tortoise & The Rabbit
Once upon a time …
I’m the fastestrunner.
That’s not true. The fastest runner isme!
They decided to settle the argument. But How???
Ok, let’s havea race.
Fine!
Poor guy! Even if I take a nap, he could not catch up with me.
He sat under the tree and soon fell asleep…
The Tortoise took this opportunity and soon finished the race, emerging as the undisputed champ.
The Rabbit woke up and realized that he'd lost the race.
The moral of the story is that… …
• Slow & Steady Wins the Race.
This is the version of the story that we've all grown up with…
The story continues …
• The Rabbit introspected & realized that he had been
§ Overconfident, § Careless and § Took things for granted.
So Rabbit asks the Tortoise …
This time, undoubtedly the Rabbit won by several miles…
The moral of the story is that… …• Fast and consistent will always beat the slow and steady.
It's good to be slow and steady; but it's better to be fast and reliable.
But the story doesn't end here …
• This time the Tortoise introspected & realized that he can’t beat Rabbit in current format.
How can I win the Rabbit?
So now this is Tortoise’s smart turn to ask the Rabbit…
Sure! Can we have another race? This time we’ll go through a different route.
They started off…But this time finishing line was a couple of kilometres on the other side of the river. Goal
So what about the race???
Now what to
do?
The moral of the story is that…
Working to your strengths will not only get you noticed, but will also create opportunities for growth and advancement.
The story still hasn't ended …
• The Rabbit and the Tortoise, by this time, had become pretty good friends and they did the usual introspection.
The final show begins…
Great! I think we could do it much better, if we two help each other.
Hi... Howabout doing our lastrace again?
They started off… But how???
Then…
And finally…
The moral of the story is that…
• Teamwork is mainly about situational leadership, letting the person with the relevant core competency for a situation take leadership.
We Learn To …
• Never give up when faced with failure
• Work to your competencies
• Compete against the situation, not against a rival.
• Pool resources and work as a team which will always beat individual performers
Let’s go and
build stronger teams!
