Considered to be one of the fastest-growing social media sites in the world, Pinterest has beaten Facebook in terms of its capability to generate business. It has been estimated that a user on Facebook who follows a link and goes on to a business site ends up spending about $85. A similar user on Pinterest ends up spending $180. Accordingly, understanding Pinterest becomes very important to your marketing effort. When you become a member on Pinterest (for free), you create your pin board. On this board you can pin pages, pictures, videos, and other kinds of media files you like on other websites. For example, if you like shopping for books at a particular store, you can pin their website to your pin board. The pin board can be private or public. People can comment on your pins; for example, someone can comment on the bookstore pin on your board and say that there is a better option available elsewhere.
