My Journey Began in my Mothers womb- I learnt from there as all my teachers said and expected.

From the day I was born to the day I started walking n talking –I was surrounded by doctors(Rather obstetricians)

My first conference was when I was 3 years old –sleeping behind in last two chairs and well, u can say it did work…

So ….

Choosing biology subconsciously just because I hated math's was the first step towards this…

Parents always telling me- DON’T become a doctor. Look at the amount of hard work we do !!!!!!!

Well ,it worked as a reverse psychology I think

From wanting to become a Pilot, to a Journalist , to a

Artist etc. etc.

Well I wasn’t ever sure that I ll become a OBGYN ..but I they said its in my blood. My subconscious mind

knew.So here I Go into MBBS- OH GOD !!! WHY ? Was the first question after seeing the books,hostels,ragging and food…

SO MBBS did happen and you know

those were my best days !!!

Finally I decided that lets do MBBS..

Then wht??Choosing the right decision of PG comes only after your Internship, or by your parents or if you are really focussed-U may know what u want ..

I choose Obs-gyn- Well you may think for OBVOIUS reasons.

But the decision came to only whn I assisted my Father in the First LSCS and the patients husband touched my dad’s feet after the procedure .And I was in AWE… I want to give smiles to people and there is no more joy than giving a baby to the parents…

YOUR DECISION – SMILE THRU IT

ALWAYS !!!

WHATEVER U DECIDE TO DO –GIVE IT YOUR BEST !!!

WELL !!! DON’T WORRY TO SEE YOUR ENGINEERING/COMMERCE / MANAGEMENT FRIENDS GETTING SETTLED AND STARTED EARNING.

REMEMBER YOU CHOOSE THIS PROFESSION AND YOU WANTED IT AND YOU WILL SUCCEED…

You hear it all the time from doctors — they would never choose medicine if they had it to do all over again. It’s practically a mantra, with the subtle implication that the current generation of doctors consists of mere technicians.

During some of the more stressful days — crushed by impossible time constraints— I can’t deny that the thought of giving up clinical practice has crossed my mind. Life would be so much easier….

I have to wonder about the alternatives if I gave up clinical medicine — pushing papers, sitting in endless PowerPoint meetings, crunching numbers — and realize that I am lucky and immensely privileged to be able to work directly with patients.

there is nothing else I’d rather do in my life than medicine,BUT THEN COMES THE ISSUE OF BEING A WOMEN-CHOOSE A CAREER OR CHOOSE A MARRIAGE,HAVE BABIES,LOOK AT YOUR AGE, MANAGE THE HOUSE …

LEARN TO PRIORITIZE ..

SO WHAT DO YOU DO?

SUPERSPECIALIZE AND ESTABLISH YOURSELF AND START A FAMILY LATER- IS IT TOO LATE?

MARRY A RICH BUISNESSMAN AND DEMAND HIM TO MAKE A HOSPITAL FOR YOU(would be lovely !!)

MANAGE SUPERSPECIALIZATION AND HUSBAND TOGETHER- WELL THAT CAN HAPPEN ONLY IF YOUR HUSBAND IS ALSO STUDYING OR YOUR INLAWS ARE VERY UNDERSTANDING(long honeymoon !!)

OR MARRY IN DOCTOR FAMILY WHO ALREADY HAVE EVERYTHING READY FOR YOU TO ESTABLISH

SO I CHOOSE TO LEARN MORE . WE HAVE LOADS OF OPTIONS ..

TAKE A YEAR – THINK AND PRIORITIZE WHAT YOU WANT AND WHAT YOU LIKE.

AND GO FOR IT…..

SO WHAT COMES NEXT

IF you have a family Back-up.Compliment your family work and learn and start as early as possible…No backup-Corporate setup for earning money and learning too.But it’s a lot of hard work and lots of expectations. You need to be really good .

Need some confidence in clinical then join a medical college.

Many private hospitals also offer there own courses .

Depending on where you stay and what you want to do you can surely find and can join those too..

Or join a corporate hospital.

Opening a Hospital single handed without family of husband backup is difficult in this era of corporate hospitals. And also a huge responsibility and headache(as I think!!!)

DNB IN SUPERSPECIALITY

If you want a long term course and want to add another degree to your qualification you can do DNB.

Better still you and your husband both can study.

JOIN A MEDICAL COLLEGE

IF you don’t want to do any courses immediately and want to brush up your operative skills then best is to join a good medical college.

You would gain experience also and plus will learn .

JOIN A PRIVATE HOSPITAL AND GAIN

EXPERIENCE…If medical college is not for you then join a good private hospital- good pay and good experience

For me –well I was a confused soul or maybe still am.

I wanted to keep learning and learning.

SO my first option was to take a year after My MD and learn ULTRASOUND and DOPPLER(6 months ICOG)

Then started liking it so Went for Observer ship to London for a month in fetal medicine and loved it..

Also still looking at my mom and the happiness she provides to infertile couples-I wanted to do that too. So did another 6mnths course in INFERTILITY.

Then finally got married.

And now for us girls –We need to think our priorities and family too. So best option comes as- either do infertility only or fetal medicine (Bcoz ofcourse they have best timings to suit your needs)

And I am still deciding what further –

And give myself at least 5 years to establish in the option I decide.
