• Water • Quinoa • Salt

The steps:

1. Use a precise ratio between quinoa and water. The ratio is 1:1 ½. For each cup of quinoa, you should add 1 ½ cup of water

2. Wash the quinoa. Quinoa contains saponins. It is quinoa’s plant defense mechanism against insect, and it makes the quinoa taste bitter. You need to wash it with cold water in a fine-mesh strainer. Rub the seeds together gently with your hands. Although the harvesting methods in the cultivation usually remove most of the saponins on the quinoa seeds, it is still a good idea to wash it first.

3. Cook the quinoa. Put both water and quinoa in a pot. Add salt, and bring it to boil. Reduce the heat to very low, then place on a lid

4. Wait until the water is absorbed by the quinoa. Turn off the heat.
