speed for our fans, building out an infrastructure

that will consistently deliver the same speed

and accessibility to the Internet whether a fan is

attending a sold-out game or if they are sitting

in the plaza enjoying lunch. Together with the

following companies, we are investing in the cabling,

networking, and next-generation access points that

will make Golden 1 Center the world’s fastest arena.

The connectivity provided by COMCAST BUSINESS

is supported and heightened by our partnership

with COMMSCOPE, a world leader in cabling

infrastructure, and VALLEY COMMUNICATIONS,

with their diverse array of services and over 30-year

history in Sacramento, to design and build more than

900 miles of fiber and copper cabling, including 670

miles of single mode fiber – more than any sports

venue of this capacity in the world. Combined with

Comcast’s blazing fast speeds, this cabling is capable

of delivering data at rates of 100 gigabits per second

and beyond – speeds that would allow you to

download a Blu-Ray in a couple of seconds.

Additionally, this will be the first arena in the world to

implement wide-band, multimode fiber technology.

This will help to future-proof Golden 1 Center

pening in October 2016, Golden 1 Center

in downtown Sacramento will break barriers

in speed and connectivity by delivering

a seamless, frictionless, and intuitive

experience to fans from the moment they arrive at the

arena, as well as the adjacent three-acre public plaza

and the Downtown Commons (DOCO) entertainment

and retail district.

The new arena will utilize cutting-edge technology to

deliver a fan-centric, transformative experience for

event goers. Through partnerships with world-class

companies, Golden 1 Center will be loaded with first-

of-its-kind technology that will offer an unparalleled

connectivity platform, an advanced and secure network

infrastructure, and a next-generation command center.

Together we are creating the fastest and most

connected indoor sports and entertainment venue in

the world.

Welcome to the future of sports and entertainment.

STATE-OF-THE-ART INFRASTRUCTURE

We are partnering with top technology companies to

facilitate the highest level of Internet connectivity and

HOW (AND WHY) THE SACRAMENTO KINGS ARE CREATING THE WORLD’S FASTEST AND MOST CONNECTED

INDOOR SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT VENUE

by creating a backbone that has the capability to

accommodate new technologies, ensuring that in the

future we can deliver faster speeds without incurring

increased costs for infrastructure upgrades.

We are working with BROCADE, a networking

technology leader, to build a reliable 160-gigabit

backbone that will support all of the services in the

arena. Removing any potential bottlenecks, this new

standard in capacity will allow fans to post to social

media quickly and reliably; for example, the network

can handle over 500,000 Snapchat posts per second.

This infrastructure will ensure that all fans experience

the fastest speeds available – no more Facebook,

Instagram, and Twitter posts that don't send or real-

time statistics that don't load.

Further ensuring fans can connect quickly and

reliably to the Internet wherever they are in the

arena, we’ve partnered with RUCKUS WIRELESS

to deploy more than 1,000 next-generation Wi-Fi

access points – placed to maximize efficiency

and connectivity – throughout the arena, public

plaza, and surrounding mixed-use development.

We will have unprecedented Wi-Fi coverage with

2

the highest density of access points per fan for a

sporting venue of this size. We’ll also be the first

venue in the world to deploy 802.11ac Wave 2

technology. Combined with a 200-gigabit Internet

bandwidth from Comcast, fans will have a strong

and reliable connection no matter how many

people are using the Internet.

Many mobile phone users rely on their cellular

connection during games to call friends or

send texts. We will be the first of any indoor

sports and entertainment venue in the world to

combine both distributed antenna and small cell

technologies into one complementary system.

This cutting-edge system will be designed by

DAS GROUP PROFESSIONALS (DGP) to ensure

fans can make calls and send texts without

having to worry whether or not there are too

many people on the network. Golden 1 Center

will have over 1 million square feet of Wi-Fi and

cellular coverage, double the office space of the

Transamerica Pyramid.

All this investment means that fans will never miss

out, no matter if they’re on Wi-Fi or their cellular

network. At Golden 1 Center, the speed of your

phone’s processor is the only limitation to what

you can do.

UNPARALLELED CONNECTIVITY

We announced in December that COMCAST BUSINESS will deliver connectivity with

unparalleled bandwidth by installing fully

redundant transport facilities and two Ethernet

dedicated Internet circuits, each with a capacity of

100 gigabits. The platform will provide the back

end infrastructure enabling us to offer free Wi-Fi

for fans, power the Kings mobile app, and supply

cloud-based voice and unified communication

services for team members at the arena and at the

team’s corporate offices. The Internet connection

at Golden 1 Center will be over 17,000 times

faster than the average home Internet connection,

with the ability to handle more than 225,000

Instagram photos per second.

A SAFE AND SECURE NETWORK

Parallel to our commitment to connectivity is

our dedication to providing a safe and secure

network. We’ve teamed with the leading next-

generation security company, PALO ALTO NETWORKS, to ensure our fans are protected

when they use our network and also to provide

security for Golden 1 Center, including

A NETWORK THAT CAN HANDLE OVER 500,000 SNAPCHAT POSTS

PER SECOND

GOLDEN 1 CENTER

OVER 1 MILLION SQUARE FEET OF WI-FI AND CELLULAR COVERAGE – DOUBLE THE OFFICE SPACE OF THE TRANSAMERICA PYRAMID

network and endpoint protection, as well as

content inspection. This technology will deliver

exceptional security without an impact on network

performance – meaning the speed that goes in,

comes out without delay.

THE SMART COMMAND CENTER OF THE FUTURE

The crown jewel of Golden 1 Center will be a

powerful and intelligent command center that will

bring all of the arena’s technology, data analytics,

and security together in one streamlined location.

Acting as the arena’s central nervous system, the

6,000 square foot command and data center,

powered by ADVANTEL NETWORKS, will ensure

we provide unmatched service to our fans and

operate the network and related infrastructure at

optimum levels, including availability, reliability,

and uptime. Data from the arena’s smart sensors

and other sources will flow through the command

center and be analyzed and utilized in real-time

to enhance the fan experience. For instance, the

command center will analyze data immediately to

provide fans access to shorter food and beverage

lines, unique video feeds, and instant in-game

statistics and analysis. In addition, it will be the

data hub for arena sensors monitoring waste,

energy consumption, and crowd flow to maximize

staff and visitor efficiency.

olden 1 Center will bring

groundbreaking speed and connectivity

to our fans, delivering a one-of-a-

kind technology experience that will

dramatically change how we watch a game, listen

to a concert, or take in a show.

Experience the future, opening October 2016.
