Qualitative interviews: Desire for change
13
People living with parents want to move
out of home90%
People in supported accommodation want
smaller/individualised options66%
People expect to change living location
as a result of the NDIS33%
Qualitative interviews: Privacy
14
Privacy Everyone in the other units keeps to
themselves and that suits me
(My accommodation) feels busy and crowded,
lack of privacy and space, overwhelming
especially when visitors are over
Carers stand at the door and listen to
conversation. There is no privacy
Qualitative interviews: Independence
15
Independence We have a big backyard, which is good,
because his sister bought him an incubator 4-
5 years ago and he really got into keeping
chickens. He also has ducks that he keeps
just for eggs, and for a short time got into
keeping quails.
I had a friend come over to cook me dinner,
but they said it wasn't allowed because it
would be our responsibility
Before my disability, I liked to be king of my
domain. It'd be nice to restore some of that
control
