houghton lake safety guide to sand holes - michigan€¦ · hole name longpoint 1 longpoint2...
TRANSCRIPT
Help in reading and interpreting the data:1. The holes are numbered 1 thru 51 and labeled, going in a clockwise motion around the lake. Starting at the west end of Long Point, then continuing
east to East Houghton Lake Drive, to the Cut River mouth, then down to Songer Point, then Old Trail Drive area, around to the Iroquois Subdivi-
sions, down through Tip-Up Town are then finishing up just off Clearview Road on the west side of the lake.
2. The GPS readings are as close to the center of the hole and we could determine.
3. The depth reading are to the nearest foot. We recorded the deepest readings on the software. Not all holes around the lake are of the same depth.
The same is true for the area around the hole.
4. The size of the hole readings are to the nearest foot. The width is a west-to-east reading the height is in a north-to-south reading.

This report will refer to what is commonly referred to as "Sand-Sucker"

The holes were created by a machine that "sucked" the sand from the
bottom of the lake to fill the shoreline. From this point forward, those
holes will be referred to as "Dredged Holes."
How you can help
If, after reading this report, you are aware
of additional information about any of the
"dredged holes," please call in the infor-
