HotShingleLOK is a patent pending one-piece roof edge ice melt system engineered to lock onto existing asphalt composite shingle without penetrating roof deck. A specially designed three sided angulated raceway securely holds a secure a single commercial grade self regulating heat trace cable in place for a direct heat transfer. The benefit of a direct heat transfer is less heat trace cable is needed to prevent ice dam and icicles formations on all roof edges. Less heat trace cable means lower energy costs. Easily installs around gutters and downspouts. And since no modifications are required to existing roof structure, overall project costs remain a fraction of all other market alternatives. HotShingleLOK2X and 3X are engineered to hold two and three heat trace cable runs for extreme applications when a minimum of 20+ inches of melt back from roof edge is needed.

SECURE: An engineered channel was developed to receive existing composite asphalt shingles

SIMPLE & FAST INSTALLATION: Simple design installs easily on all EXISTING asphalt composite shingle roofs

NEC Compliant: The engineered open raceway design conforms to the NEC (National Electrical Code) Article 426 and provides access for insertion, inspection and replacement

NO MODIFICATIONS: This one piece design requires no shingle cutting or removal. Avoids damaging or modifying existing roof shingles which saves time on installations to reduce overall cost of project LESS HEAT TRACE CABLE NEEDED: The benefit of a direct heat transfer is less heat trace cable is needed to prevent ice dam and icicles formations on all roof edges

A “GREEN” SOLUTION: Less heat trace cable means lower energy costs. In fact, all HotEdge roof edge melt systems use at least 50% less heat trace cable than all other alternatives, i.e. zig zag and aluminum metal tracks

WARRANTY: Industry leading 10-year limited warranty against heat cable failures and manufacture defects assures a long service. Heat trace cable is protected from UV light and snow/ice shifts and slides

COLOR MATCH: Our expansive inventory and nationwide network allows HotEdge to best match existing roof or trim color

The revolutionary one-piece HotShingleLOK™ panels are design engineered for secure and simple installation on composite asphalt shingle, wood shake, cedar shake, and concrete tile applications with or without gutter systems.

The objective is to heat a roof edge on a continuous basis by transferring heat directly from a commercial grade self-regulating heat cable to the HotShingleLOK™. Heating a roof edge on a continuous basis is critical towards preventing icicles and ice dams from forming. Once installed, snow melt water does not have the chance to re-freeze on the roof edge. Gutters and downspouts must always be taken into careful consideration as part of a complete system as they represent the pathway necessary for snow melt water to travel and reach the ground before it can re-freeze.

The heated HotShingleLOK™ panels slide between the second and third rows of shingles with the heated ice melt cable three-sided raceway laid just above the gutter hangers and tight to the edge.

If needed, the 4” wide HotShingleLOK Transition Panel fits over the 1/8-1/4” gap between the HotShingleLOK™ Panels to cover the seams.

® DESIGN GUIDEfor HotShingleLOKTM

Overview1. The overall objective is to keep the snow melt water in a liquid state until it reaches the ground and is drained

away from the structure’s foundation. A heated gutter and downspout system is required for most applications.

2. The HotShingleLOK Panels are normally ten feet wide and installed with a 1/8”-1/4” gap between the panels for expansion/contraction and drainage between the panels. The HotShingleLOK panels may be cut to width at the job site. If needed, the job site cut is covered by the Transition Panels (below) that have a clean cut factory edge.

3. The four inch wide Transition Panel has a slightly larger inside cavity fold-back at the bottom and fits over the gap between the LOK Panels.

4. This patent pending open raceway design conforms to the NEC (National Electrical Code) Article 426 and provides access for insertion, maintenance and replacement.

5. The heat generated by the single run of commercial-grade self-regulating heat cable is directly conducted to the HotShingleLOK Panels. The raceway was designed to tightly wrap the heat cable on 3 sides for retention and maximum heat transference.

6. Due to the extended up-roof melt back distance, only a 12 watt/ft ice melt cable should be used. Consult with a licensed electrician for layout, junction box locations, EPD electrical feeds and NEC compliance.
