Our North American certification for oil stoves has expired and we are unable to import any more unless we re-certify. The re-certification process would have to be conducted by an accredited testing lab just as if it were a new stove. As you can appreciate, this is a very costly and time consuming process. The demand for oil stoves (which has always been very regional) has been declining for the last decade. With the increasing trend toward gas, propane, wood and more recently - pellet fueled appliances, we have determined that it would not be cost effective to re-submit our oil stove line for re-certification. Based on this, we have decided to eliminate oil stoves from our product offering. This re-certification process applies only to new, imported appliances, units currently in North America are not affected. We do still have a limited inventory of oil stoves, which are available for immediate shipment on a first come, first served basis. Please contact the order desk for availability, at (888)721-7253. Product Improvement News

Item # 1 LHD50 - Continuous Improvements announced for this month include a review of the LHD50. The screws used in the face of this fireplace and the surrounding framing, will be replaced with rivets to minimize the protrusions on the framing surface and thereby minimize any bowing of the cement board installed over it. The return on the framed opening around the glass will be removed so that the depth of the cement board and any additional finishing materials are better accommodated. Changes will also be made to eliminate light filtration outside the firebox on the two-sided models. Item # 2 NZ6000 - The alternate electrical openings in the outer shell of the NZ6000 located down below the doors have been removed. This will stop any air contained in the fireplaces combustion air chamber, from being drawn through these openings into the surrounding enclosure. Item # 3 Gas Fireplaces - The main burner orifices used in all of our gas burning fireplaces will be changed from 9/16” hex to 1/2” hex size. This change means that a 1/2” deep socket will now be required whenever servicing or converting any of our gas fireplaces instead of the 9/16” deep socket traditionally required. Item # 4 EPA Stoves and Insert Baffle Changes - By now many of you have already discovered the changes we have made to the fibre baffles used in our EPA Stoves and Inserts. We have improved their durability by making the surfaces harder. These improvements will help them better endure the impacts from the firewood being loaded into the firebox. We have also increased the thickness of the fibre baffles in our EPA 1400 series stove and inserts. Installers may notice that these new baffles are more difficult to install using the traditional method. We recommend installing the baffle before installing the last row of firebricks on the side. All of the changes referenced in this bulletin will be made as running changes. In some instances, they may have already been implemented in production and maybe yet to come in others.

Item # 1 MKRM and MKRY River Rocks: These new Media Kits are undergoing a switch to ceramic fibre from the concrete models we initially introduced. The kits will still contain the same number of rocks with the same colours including tan, black, brown and grey. The sizes of the rocks will also remain unchanged though the right and left side clusters have been modified so that they seat firmly on the support. These ceramic fibre rocks will still be suitable for outdoor models such as the GPF Patio Flame and the GSS36 Outdoor Fireplace. Look for these changes as current inventories are depleted. Item # 2 LHD50 Improvements: With the development of the Swarovski Limited Edition, certain aspects of the fireplace design underwent some alterations. Since this shares the same platform as the LHD50, those same changes will also be incorporated into it. With the introduction of the Beveled Trim, a mechanism was developed to fasten the trim to the fireplace. This change will soon be made to the LHD50 so that the Beveled Trim can also be installed onto it. In addition, this trim may be installed on both sides of the see through models Light infiltration was eliminated on the two-sided model and those changes will implemented in the LHD50, as well. The return above the door of this fireplace will also be removed to provide a clean edge to finish up to. During this fireplace’s development, it was recognized that the use of the GD422R round terminal enhanced the flame performance and consequently, it will be listed as the only terminal for use with either the Swarovski or the LHD50. Item # 3 HD81 Assembly Change: We had some reports of the HD81 sides bowing out which affected the finishing around the fireplace. To address this matter, we have changed the assembly design so that the sides will no longer bow out. This will eliminate the need for any adjustment in the field and will provide a straight edge for finishing material to butt up against it. Item # 4 EPA Stoves Get Labeled: When we introduced the EPA Leg Models along with their outside air kits and blowers, we changed the back stove shield so that a knock out could be removed when both of these kits were to be installed. Unfortunately, in some installations of both the leg and pedestal models, the knock out was removed when it was not necessary. To avert any future confusion, a label will now be affixed to the knock out advising when its removal is required.
