We have fixed the problem. Already imported data are stored in the data base correctly. Only the export function was erroneous.

Hotfix: LiDAR data export, reduction point After importing of data with type=LiDAR with defined reduction point for the data tables (e.g. for UTM coordinates with 8 decimal places), the export of these data was not correct (empty files). We have fixed the problem. Already imported data are stored in the data base correctly. Only the export function was erroneous.

TopDM 5.6.0 TopDM 5.6.0 is a release version and requires a dongle update. !!! Please deinstall previous installed TopDM versions. !!! Before installing the new release, please save your TopDM data base. Extensive changes concerning the data base table system were done. The data base of the previous version 5.5.12 will be adapted automatically (Note: data bases of ealier versions have to be updated to 5.5.12!). However it is not possible for all kind of user defined coordinate systems to transfer the parameters, therefore TopDM creates a report file when updating the data base. Please check this list. Anyway, the coordinate transformations have to be double checked with the help of reference points. Please find at the end of the Release Notes a list of data base tables which were changed or added or deleted. Inpho Suite offers geoid files; they can be installed with an additional setup. Please check the system requirements; the setup software needs Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. After installing under WIN7 it is necessary to change a Registry Entry (see below, Information). This TopDM version works with the data base TopDB. Oracle is not yet supported.

New function: 64bit version TopDM 5.6 is available as 64bit and 32bit version.

Georeferencing: new administration for coordinate systems The new Georeferencing administration was built according to the transformation tool in Inphos ApplicationsMaster. User defined systems stored in Applications-Master can be directly used in TopDM (see Information: Coordinate Transformation, Registry Entry). It is conform to the OGC (Open GIS consortium) „Coordinate Transformation Services“ specification. The access to the data base with predefined systems (EPSG system with adaption to the Trimble Software) offers an easy selection of coordinate systems. If user-defined coordinate systems should be used in both, ApplicationsMaster and TopDM, please define them in ApplicationsMaster. New coordinate systems defined by TopDM are not accessible by ApplicationsMaster.

Georeferencing: additional format support for point cloud transformation Supported formats: ASCII Text File, LAS, SCOP Winput, XYZ, SDW File Riegl, Full Waveform Data FWF (see manual 10.5.2). The output format definition changed. Instead of defining the format e.g. 2F12.2, it is now possible to define only “number of pre-decimal place”.”number of decimal place” (e.g. 12.2).

Topographic Data Market: LiDAR point cloud administration Until now, for each point in data format LAS TopDM stored the X, Y and Z coordinates. This version supports and stores additional point attributes (time, intensity/amplitude, echo width, return info, classification info, colour values).

Topographic Data Market: creation of topographic data tables When creating tables for topographic data market, a new type of table for LiDAR data can be defined. Furthermore for each table the coordinate resolution can be defined (see manual 11.3.2).

Topographic Data Market: additional format support Additionally the import of Riegl SDW files and FWF (ASCII format, see manual, glossary – full waveform data format) is supported. The import and export of data in format LAZ (LAS compression) is possible. Vector data in format ESRI shape are supported as input data.

Topographic Data Market: data tables for import Up to now, data tables had to be created before importing data. With this version data tables can be created automatically during data import (see manual11.4.4).

Topographic Data Market: export, tiling Exporting large point clouds, automatic tiling of data output can be enabled. Also tiling of data (if data type = LiDAR) into LAS tiles with automatic creation of Inpho’s tile navigation file TPIX is possible. This allows using tiles directly in DTMaster or DTMToolKit.

Topographic Data Market: export, format LAS Exporting a LiDAR data set to format LAS, optional specifications can be chosen, like the ASPRS LAS version as well as the Point Data Record format. Additionally the user can define what to export (classification, return, elevation, time and other parameters - see screenshot Filter Specifications).

Derived Products Market: DTM export, DTM qualified thinning It is possible to thin out the DTM. One of the most important advantages of the TIN or Vector structure in comparison to regular grids/rasters (DTM type Hybrid and Grid) is the possibility of irregular data spacing. In flat or plain areas it is therefore possible to reduce the number of grid points/triangles without (or with little) loss of quality and accuracy. The basic principle of the applied reduction algorithm is to derive an approximated TIN surface consisting of a subset of the original DTMpoints. The reduction process can be controlled by two numerical parameters. Use the (Max. Z-tolerance) to specify the maximum allowed vertical deviation between the original DTM and the approximating TIN and (Max. reduction level) to specify the number of reduction levels (see manual 12.5).

Derived Products Market: DTM export,automatic tiling It is possible to export the DTM as tiles. In general, all data affected by the current select condition are exported to a single file. However, especially when dealing with huge data sets it might be convenient to split the data into separate tiles of equal size (see manual 12.5.1).

Information: license management, TopDM Client If an Aladdin network key (only for 32bit version) or WIBU CodeMeter key will be used with TopDM full version and TopDM Client version (readonly), the user can specify which version he wants to use. Information: installation on OS Win 7 Installing the software on Win7 operating systems, the following registry setting has be checked: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation The default setting „ value=2“ allows to create short file names definable for each volume. Value 0 short and long file names will be created. Till now this was the default setting on Win XP and Win Vista operating system. !!! For TopDM it is necessary to set the value to 0. For your information The following setting will be supported on Win 7 operating systems: 0 NTFS creates short file names. This setting enables applications that cannot process long file names and computers that use different code pages to find the files. 1 NTFS does not create short file names. Although this setting increases file performance, applications that cannot process long file names, and computers that use different code pages, might not be able to find the files. 2 NTFS sets the 8.3 naming convention creation on a per volume basis.
