As the golf season is fast approaching, I am already working with

the juniors in our area to prepare them for the golf spring season

and to begin the process of developing our new Saratoga High

School Golf Team.

The first effort currently underway is the new Golf

in Schools program developed by the Colorado

Section of the PGA. Golf in Schools is a three day

process where all the kids in each

school in our district are taught the proper

technique of hitting a golf ball. Here is the

schedule for the following schools:

Saratoga Elementary School March 27th-March 29th

Hanna Junior-Senior High School April 2nd-April 4th

Saratoga High School April 16th-April 19th

Riverside/Encampment School the week of April 24th

Hanna Elementary, Medicine Bow Elementary, and Elk

Mountain Elementary the days of April 20th, April 27th, and

May 11th.

We will have our Annual Junior Golf Camp

sponsored by the Saratoga Lions Club during the

weeks of June 11th, June 18th, and June 25th. Only

this year is going to be more than golf. It will be our

introduction of the PGA Sports Academy which will

include golf but also many other activities such as

relay races, football and baseball throwing, tug a

Local Students Visit SERI

What does science, live surgery and a cadaver

lab have to do with the Saratoga Resort? Well,

our local high school students took a 2nd

annual trip to SERI (Spine Education &

Research Institute) in Denver CO on Monday,

March 26th and Tuesday, March 27th. On

Monday the students started out watching a

live surgery and being able to ask the surgeon

questions. Following the surgery a nurse

showed the students proper suture techniques

and they got to practice suturing on pigs feet.

They finished their first day with tacos and

bowling. On Tuesday, they spent a few hours

in the cadaver lab and WOW what an

experience that was! If a student is interested

in the medical field, this was the place to

decide whether or not this is the field you

wanted to study. It was hands on and so

educational with the SERI interns leading the

way.

This opportunity given to these local rural

students was more than they expected and is

something they will never forget. Now, what

does this have to do with the Resort? Well, we

have scheduled the Summer Science Camp

again this year to be held at the Resort July

16th-18th. Please visit our Calendar of Events

at www.saratogaresortandspa.com for more

info and to register. The SERI staff did such a

great job that we have no doubt this will be a

great summer project for us to host again this

year!

For more info

about the SERI

please visit their

website at

www.theseri.com

The Platte Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be holding a banquet and auction on Saturday, April 28th to raise money for a number of projects that will benefit the Platte Valley.

One of the projects they will raise money for is a BBQ and float trip for our local Wounded Warriors. The Saratoga Resort & Spa is honored to host their BBQ on July 19th.

The Trout Unlimited banquet and auction will be held at the Platte Valley Community Center. Social hour begins at 5:30 pm and the banquet at 7:00 pm with auction to follow.

Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased at the following places:

Saratoga - Hack’s Tackle, Wolf Hotel Rawlins - Bi-Rite Sporting Goods, State Farm Insurance Riverside/Encampment - Trading Post *Or from any PVTU Chapter Member

Their auction will feature great opportunities like a one night stay and massage for two at the Saratoga Resort, float trips and fishing trips, items for anglers and non-anglers and plenty of fishing products!
