Single Nozzle Selection Guide

Mastip strongly recommends discussing your Single Nozzle Application Selection with your Hales Tool & Die applications representative. The BX nozzle is only suitable for some single nozzle application solutions. The SX nozzle has been specifically developed for single nozzle applications. G5 tips are recommended for filled resins and high temperature applications.

There are other nut options available including contact, dome, retro, all with varying lengths. Nozzle lengths can fall outside of the measurements suggested and be manufactured specific to your application solution. Radius options vary, 15.5mm and 40mm are examples only. This sheet is to be used as a prompt, for a single nozzle application solution talk to your applications representative at Hales Tool & Die. Mastip Technology Limited accepts no responsibility for system failure with application selections not discussed with an applications specialist.© Copyright Mastip Technology Limited. SX Nozzle

SX Nozzle Technology

Installation and Maintenance

• Simple machining and installation requirements• Improved reliability due to the use of advanced

materials• Common tip and nut options provide ready

availability of spare parts

Operation

• Separate heater for the nozzle head for maximum temperature control

• Wide moulding window• Excellent temperature profile and thermal stability• Operates at low moulding pressure and

temperature• Optimum cycle times due to superior thermal

insulation• Uses economical and robust coil heaters

Mould Design

• Ability to easily order special length nozzles• Shares the same gate profiles as MX and BX• Consistent nozzle lengths across the range• Ability to mould large parts with smaller nozzles

due to optimum flow characteristics

With two heaters the SX nozzle is perfectly suited for all single nozzle applications. Independently controlled heater zones provide uniform temperature distribution along the length of the nozzle, making it ideal to process difficult plastics.

MJ Nozzle

MJ Nozzle Technology

The MJ nozzle is ideal for the processing of small parts or where space is minimal. Designed for multi cavity hot half configurations the nozzle has optimised thermocouple and heater positioning to ensure precise temperature control and profile. A small gate pocket requirement allows injection into restricted areas while enabling superior cooling of the gate area, thus providing improved part quality and cycle times.

Its flexible front loading heater, thermocouple and tip design ensures any future maintenance requirements can be performed hassle free, helping you reduce machine downtime and costs.

MVG40 Valve Gate

MVG40 Valve Gate Technology

Operation

• MVG40 is available to suit MX and BX series nozzles• Reduced moulding pressure • Increased moulding window• Lower mould filling stress results in better

part quality• Reduced gate cooling requirements

Installation and Maintenance

• Easy machining and installation• Easy pin adjustment and seal replacement while

the mould remains assembled

Mould Design

• Ability for close nozzle spacing. Standard minimal pitching is 75mm (can be modified to fit 58mm pitching)

• Backplates can be as thin as 55mm• Easy machining of the pockets• Pneumatic circuit is integrated with the backplate

The MVG40 (Manifold Valve Gate) system is ideal for all applications which require high speed, sequential filling or highly cosmetic gates. Due to its multiple gating options and lack of material traps it will operate with the most demanding materials. The MVG40 is designed for easy installation due to simple mounting in the backplate with integral airways.

MVG55 Valve Gate

MVG55 Valve Gate Technology

Operation

• MVG55 is available to suit BX nozzles in 27 series• Reduced moulding pressure • Increased moulding window• Lower mould filling stress results in better part

quality• Reduced gate cooling requirements

Installation and Maintenance

• Easy machining and installation• Easy seal replacement

Mould Design

• Ability for close nozzle spacing. Standard minimal pitching is 95mm (can be modified to fit 74mm pitching)

• Backplates can be as thin as 55mm• Easy machining of the pockets• Pneumatic circuit is integrated with the backplate

The MVG55 (Manifold Valve Gate) system is ideal for medium to large shot weight applications which require sequential filling or cosmetic gates. The valve gate system produces faster cycle times, improved part strength and appearance with increased dimensional stability. The MVG55 has the capacity to sequentially fill the part and the ability to manage weld lines.

Due to its high speed multiple gating options and lack of material traps, it will operate with the most demanding materials, including those that contain fillers.

The pneumatic actuated MVG55 is designed for easy installation with the simple mounting in the backplate with integral airways.

1. For minimum size of sprue pocket, refer to page 52.. Do not place band heater wire over spacers.2. Keep back plate clamping bolts close to manifold without exposing to direct heat. Use as many bolts as needed to maintain rigidity.3. Refer to “Thermal Gate Expansion” document for the expansion formula.

Mainframes for 15-Amp Control Modules*For use with RMA, RMB, RMC & IMP control modules onlyThe configurations illustrated below provide a wide selection of zone capacities to suit almost any hot runner control application. The 5, 6, 8 and 12 zone frames use individual frame sections. The 16 thru 48 zone frames use 2, 3 or 4 frame sections rigidly fastened together into one prewired integral unit which requires only one main AC power input connection.

MFL & MFH Mainframe Configurations

Mainframes for 30-amp Modules**The 5 configurations illustrated provide 1, 2, 3, 5 or 6 zones of 30 amp control for higher wattage heater applications.

**NOTE: Blank panel(s) should be ordered to provide for heat dissipation and to cover unused zones in frames. Combination frames to accommodate both 15 and 30 amp modules are available on special order.

Mainframe cabinets may be stacked to form a permanent, integrated unit with a single ac power input and breaker. Up to 48 control modules (zones) may be accommodated.

5, 6, 8, and 12 zone mainframes have a circuit breaker rating of 50 amps and a maximum total wattage of 20 kW (domestic models) and 36 kW (Export and CE Models). Mainframes for 16 zones and over have a circuit breaker rating of 70 amps and 29 kW (domestic models) and 50.4 kW (Export and CE Models).
