HOT LIST: RATING ICONS : THIS IS HOT
Dear Student,
OUT for Work, the only national nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, preparing, and empowering lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) college students and their allies for the workplace is proud to release the first ever HOT List. What is ‘The HOT List’? The H-O-T in ‘The HOT List’ actually stands for Hiring Out Talent. It’s an index of organizations that brings together two elements that you are concerned with, who’s hiring and how inclusive are these work environments for LGBT employees. Using data from multiple sources and additional criteria developed by OUT for Work, each organization in the index is rated on the level of anticipated entry level hires for the year and their workplace equality for LGBT employees. Using a formula, the combination of these factors then make up an organization’s HOT Rating. The HOT list is organized by industry.
The HOT List rating scale consists of the following levels: (from highest to lowest) Burning HOT, HOT, Getting Hotter, Not HOT Enough, Warm, and Just a Spark. This year, out of the 129 companies that made the list, 54 achieved our top rating of Burning HOT.
OUT for Work looks forward to providing this publication annually. We hope that you will use ‘The HOT List’ as one your resources when choosing a part time job, an internship, and ultimately a full time position upon graduation.
Sincerely,
Riley B. FoldsDirectorOUT for Work
