ABOUT SHARED SERVER HOSTING:Design Shopp will create a hosting account for the client using our Reseller plan with

Hostgator. The extra features included this package are DNS hosting and POP Email (5

mailboxes). Additional mailboxes can be created for an extra fee. If DNS modifications

are required, a minimum charge of 30 minutes should be billed to the client as it

requires Design Shopp to make the change, wait for propagation and verify the setup.

This option is geared towards clients with simpler sites; be they simple PHP or powered

by Wordpress/Drupal/Joomla. Clients wishing to host larger websites should look at

options two and three.

• Server resources are shared, so the performance of the site fluctuates based on the load on the server

• If the bandwidth allocation is exceeded, the site will go offline until it is moved to a higher tier

Design Shopp has a finite amount of resources to allocate to shared hosting plans.

Clients should be billed in accordance with the needs of their site. To this end, clients

should be assigned one of the following tiers:

ABOUT VPS HOSTING:Design Shopp will set up a Virtual Private Server for the client. The cost of this option

is flexible because the hosting provider offers several tiers. For most cases, the

second tier is sufficient ($49.95USD). This option is geared toward websites powered

by Magento, or to clients with complex database driven sites which do not run well on

a shared plan.

VPS hosting allows users to have root access to their own virtual space and is more

secure than a shared server.

• Ability to install software which would not be allowed on a shared server (i.e.: video conversion software)

ABOUT CLOUD HOSTING:

Design Shopp will create a hosting account with our cloud based reseller package.

The major benefit of this option is that the site’s hosting will be redundant and load

balanced. This option is geared towards clients who have moderate CMS powered

sites, such as Wordpress, Joomla or Drupal. Email accounts are billed individually and

the clients have several options, depending on their needs.

REDUNDANCY

The website files are hosted and replicated

across multiple servers, meaning that there

is no single point of failure. If the active

web server instance becomes unavailable,

another will take over.

LOAD BALANCING

In a standard hosting scenario (i.e. options one or two), there exists a single web

server responsible for processing all requests. If a site suddenly receives a large

influx of traffic, the site's performance will suffer proportionally to the amount of

traffic. In a load balanced scenario, when the site receives a large amount of traffic,

additional web server instances will automatically be created to handle the additional

traffic. This balancing happens automatically and incurs no additional cost.
