WELCOME TO 2011! If the latent risks that may still complicate the Spanish economic situation eventually disperse, the GDP of the tourism industry could continue to grow in 2011 at an estimated rate of 1%, continuing the growth rate of 2010. This result would recover an additional point in relation to the more than 10 points that were lost in Spanish tourism activity between 2008 and 2009, according to the INE (National Statistics Institute). This year we are expecting more tourists from Germany, France, the Nordic countries, Russia and markets further afield. And although happiness can not be guaranteed with respect to the domestic and British markets, they looks set to be on the right track for the recovery of levels of profitability from before the crisis.

Slowly but surely, tourism demand in Spain began to creep back in 2010 with overnight stays in hotels increasing by over 9%. And while bars and restaurants, affected by sluggish spending, reduced sales by 2.8% last year, new expectations bring a breath of optimism that should serve as a new impetus and to focus attention on every detail that differentiates an expired business from a successful one. A task in which the design and appearance of an establishment performs an essential role in serving both as a letter of presentation and as an emotional link with customers.

In this first edition of the year, we invite you to peruse the following pages where, as well as national and international projects full of creativity and the latest in design trends, you will find an interesting selection of hospitality furniture, which bursts with great design, and the latest in Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems. ¡BIENVENIDOS AL 2011! Si los riesgos latentes, que aún pueden complicar la situación económica española, terminan por esfumarse, el PIB del sector turístico podría volver a crecer en 2011 a una tasa estimada del 1%, repitiendo la registrada en 2010. Un resultado que permitiría recuperar un punto adicional respecto a los más de 10 puntos en que se redujo la actividad turística entre 2008 y 2009 en España, según el INE. Durante este año se espera una llegada más intensa de turistas procedentes de Alemania, Francia, los países nórdicos, Rusia y mercados de larga distancia. Y, aunque aún no se pueden anticipar alegrías con respecto al mercado nacional y británico, el rumbo está puesto ya a buen puerto en busca de la recuperación de niveles de rentabilidad previos a la crisis.

Tímidamente, la demanda turística en España ya comenzó su repunte en 2010 con incrementos por encima del 9% de las pernoctaciones en hoteles. Y, aunque bares y restaurantes, afectados por la atonía del gasto, redujeron un 2,8% sus ventas el pasado año, las nuevas expectativas traen un soplo de optimismo que debe servir para tomar nuevo impulso y fijar la atención en cubrir todos y cada uno de los detalles que diferencian un negocio caduco de uno con éxito. Una tarea en la que el interiorismo adquiere un papel capital al servir tanto como carta de presentación como de vínculo emocional con el cliente.

El prizeotel Bremen City, en el centro de la ciudad alemana de Bremen, lleva un año abierto y ya ha cosechado un gran éxito: Geo Saison lo ha nombrado recientemente uno de los 100 mejores hoteles de Europa del año 2010, en la categoría de Recién Llegado. Diseñado por Karim Rashid, es un proyecto de Diseñocracia: alto diseño, accesible para todos.

The prizeotel Bremen City, in the heart of the German city of Bremen, opened last year and has already reaped great success: Geo Saison has recently named the establishment one of the 100 best hotels in Europe for 2010, in the Recently Arrived category. Designed by Karim Rashid, it is a Designocracy project: high fashion, accessible to everyone.

El concepto de prizeotel, consiste en una muy buena relación calidad-precio pero en un ambiente de diseño único. Sus 127 habitaciones se distinguen por el diseño inconfundible del neoyorkino Karim Rashid. Equipadas con camas de 180 x 200 cm., televisor de pantalla plana de 32", escritorio, lámpara flexible iLamp con altavoces integrados, base para el iPhone y el iPod, disponen igualmente de ducha de diseño con cabezal de lluvia tropical y conexión de Internet WLAN gratuita. Las habitaciones de diseño de prizeotel no disponen de camas separadas y pueden ir equipadas de forma opcional con un armario o baúl. Desde el principio, Rashid manifestó su deseo de crear un alto diseño a un precio razonable. Y para poder hacer esto, escogió materiales y muebles personalmente, incluyendo productos que había diseñado para Bonaldo, como el sillón Skip que situó en el vestíbulo o la ecléctica silla Poly que se encuentra en el salón de desayunos y en las habitaciones, poniendo de manifiesto que la filosofía de Bonaldo y el concepto del prizeotel están en la misma onda. El nombre de la silla Poly viene de “policarbonato” (polycarbonate en inglés), que es el material del que está fabricada a través de un proceso de moldeo por inyección. Mientras, la Skip Lounge, muy flexible y cómoda, tiene forma de S y estructura chapada en cromo o en acero esmaltado, el asiento y el respaldo son de espuma de poliuretano expandida.

El prizeotel Bremen City es un hotel para no fumadores y tampoco admite animales. Cuenta con 46 plazas de aparcamiento situadas a la entrada del hotel.

The prizeotel concept consists of a very solid quality-price relationship in a unique design atmosphere. Its 127 rooms stand out for their unmistakable design, created by New Yorker Karim Rashid. Complete with super king-sized beds, 32" flat-screen televisions, desks, flexible iLamps with integrated speakers, and docking stations for the iPhone and the iPod, they also have state-of-the-art showers with tropical rain shower heads and free WLAN Internet connection. The high fashion rooms of prizeotel do not have separate beds, and can include an optional wardrobe or chest of drawers. From the beginning, Rashid indicated his desire to create high fashion at a reasonable price. In order to do this, he chose the furnishings and materials personally, including products he had designed for Bonaldo, such as the Skip armchair placed in the vestibule or the eclectic Poly chair found in the rooms and the breakfast area, clearly displaying that Bonaldo's philosophy and the prizeotel concept are taken from the same playbook. The name of the Poly chair comes from "polycarbonate," which is the material used in this chair, created through an injection molding process. Meanwhile, the Skip Lounge, very flexible and comfortable, is shaped like an "S" and plated on the edges with chrome or enameled steel, while the seat and back rest are of expanded polyurethane foam.

El predominio del color blanco, tanto en revestimientos como en el mobiliario, combinado con juegos de luces y colores, creados gracias a sistemas de RGB cambia color, marcan el logrado interiorismo del pub Moon Beach de Benidorm, decorado por Estudio Code.

The predominance of white, both in the upholstery and in the furniture itself, combined with the play of light and color created by the RGB color change system, define the decor of the Benidorm Moon Beach Club, designed by Estudio Code.

Inaugurado en marzo de 2010, este local de ocio nocturno situado en la primera línea de la playa de Levante en Benidorm, está distribuido a lo largo de una única planta y consta de una superficie interior de 170 metros cuadrados y una terraza de 110.

El cuidado espacio exterior, pavimentado con porcelánico gris, está presidido por una celosía de Duralmond retroiluminada con sistema RGB y letras de acero inoxidable, igualmente retroiluminadas, que combinan con el mobiliario blanco, a base de mesas y taburetes altos y sillones y mesas bajas, de la firma Gandia Blasco. La barandilla que delimita esta zona es de cristal con perfilería en acero inoxidable, mientras la puerta ciega existente ha sido realizada en aluminio blanco, con un tirador de acero inoxidable con la imagen corporativa.

En la zona interior, con el suelo en el mismo porcelánico del exterior, los pilares se han revestido de cristal Lacobel blanco, mientras para decorar el frontal de la barra se ha utilizado nuevamente la celosía de la terraza, que también va retroiluminada, mientras la trasera cuenta con sistema cambia color RGB. En el frontal de la cabina del DJ, en cambio, el fondo de la celosía está pintado en negro y no va retroiluminado.

Los puntos de luz que bañan las paredes y los pilares, que también cambian de color, crean una especial ambientación en todo el local, en tanto las zonas más íntimas se diferencian mediante conjuntos de sofás y mesitas.

Opened in March 2010, the nightclub, located on the most exclusive section of Levante beach in Benidorm, consists of an inner surface of 170 square meters spread out over one floor and a 110 m2 terrace.

The refined outdoors, paved with gray tiles, is graced by backlit Duralmond RGB lattice work, the club's name in backlit stainless steel letters, and combines beautifully with the white high stools, tables and chairs and Gandia Blasco low tables. The railing that separates this area is made of crystal lined in stainless steel, while the blind door has been covered in white aluminum with the club logo on the stainless steel handle.

Indoors, the floor tiles are the same as outside, and the pillars have been covered with white Lacobel crystal. The front of the bar is decorated with the same backlit lattice work as the terrace while the rear features the RGB color change system. The bottom of the DJ booth's lattice work, on the other hand, is painted black and is not backlit.

The points of light that bath the walls and pillars, which also change color, create a special ambience throughout the restaurant, while most of the private areas are distinguished by unique sets of sofas and tables.

The hotel is located in a newly constructed building which is integrated into one of the most prestigious golf courses on La Costa Blanca: La Finca Golf, inaugurated in 2002 and designed by Pepe Gancedo. En su decoración se ha seguido un criterio funcional, de líneas limpias y puras que se funden perfectamente con la línea arquitectónica del edificio y que proporcionan al huésped una sensación de orden, limpieza visual y compositiva que hace muy agradable la estancia.

Para el mobiliario, el estudio de proyectos de El Corte Inglés División Comercial, en Barcelona, optó por crear una base neutra beige que predomina en todas las estancias y que contrasta con los marrones oscuros utilizados en el mobiliario.

Los tejidos han sido elegidos con el mismo criterio cromático, pero enriquecidos por la utilización de texturas como los terciopelos, que aportan calidez a las estancias, y que contrastan con materiales lisos como el vidrio lacado.

The fabrics have been chosen with the same chromatic criteria and enriched by the use of textures such as velvet, which lend an air of warmth to the rooms and contrast with smooth materials such as lacquered glass.

1 y 2.- La entrada principal, de 600 metros cuadrados, da la bienvenida al cliente con una cubierta colgada de cristal y acero en media luna, diseño de vanguardia. Este “motor lobby” cuenta además con cuatro carriles de circulación para el tráfico, que garantiza la fluidez del mismo, con 50 metros de longitud. En el interior, el lobby de 2.000 metros cuadrados, con una sorprendente cristalera, lago y escalera, alberga el área de recepción de clientes y da acceso a los tres espacios principales del edificio: la zona de entretenimiento y restaurantes, el centro de convenciones y la torre de habitaciones y spa, con siete elevadores de gran capacidad, en cuya base se ubica un jardín.

The 600-square meter main entrance welcomes guests with a crescent moon-shaped glass and steel hanging canopy, and it is a display of cutting edge design. This 50-meter long "vehicle lobby” has four lanes, which ensures a good flow of traffic. Inside, the 2,000-square meter lobby, decorated with a breathtaking chandelier, a lake and an elegant staircase, houses the reception area and gives guests access to the building's three main areas: the entertainment and dining areas, the convention center as well as the room tower and spa, complete with seven high-capacity elevators whose bases are located in a garden.

PRINCIPALES PAUTAS DECORATIVAS: La complejidad estética del hotel es el resultado de la categoría exigida por un establecimiento de cinco estrellas y de la

aplicación de las teorías ancestrales del Feng Shui, de gran trascendencia en China. De acuerdo a estos principios, el hotel ha sido diseñado con planta en forma

de "T", levantándose con formas sinuosas, sin líneas rectas, favoreciendo los flujos de energía entre los espacios, un conjunto armonioso y elegante, dado que

la energía emanada del río no debe ser interrumpida por fachadas perpendiculares al mismo, sino que necesitan movimiento justificado por la proximidad de las

corrientes de agua. Asimismo, el estudio del perfil urbano y arquitectónico de Shanghai ha determinado las proporciones del edificio, así como la integración de

10.- El Centro de Convenciones dispone de un amplio espacio de recepción, con bar “coffe-break”, cocina de apoyo y un total de 18 salas, la principal con una capacidad de más de 800 personas está decorada con formas y tonos orgánicos y tiene una extraordinaria iluminación. El centro de convenciones está directamente comunicado al interior del hotel mediante escaleras mecánicas.

11, 12, 13 y 14.- Las habitaciones se distribuyen a lo largo de tres amplios pasillos. Tanto éstas como las zonas comunes están elegantemente decoradas con mobiliario de máxima calidad y confort. Gracias al diseño del edificio, el 75% de las habitaciones gozan de impresionantes vistas sobre el río. El tamaño de las mismas oscila entre los 36 metros cuadrados de la habitación estándar y los 450 de la Suite Imperial. Una entrada en diagonal con recibidor resguarda el dormitorio de la vista directa desde el pasillo. Los baños tienen una superficie de 10 metros cuadrados y cuentan con bañera, plato de ducha y jacuzzi. En las imágenes habitaciones superiores y deluxe que combinan la elegancia del diseño con funcionalidad y confort.

The rooms are spread over three large halls. Both these common areas are elegantly decorated with high quality and comfortable furniture. Thanks to the design of the building, 75% of the rooms have stunning views of the river. The rooms range in size from 36 square meters for a standard room to 450-square meters for the Imperial Suite. El YHI Spa ha sido diseñado acorde al estilo del hotel, con formas sinuosas y superficies revestidas en suaves tonos orgánicos. 21 y 22.- El estudio del perfil urbano y arquitectónico de Shanghai ha determinado las proporciones del edificio, así como la integración de materiales como el acero, el cristal verde o el granito gris de China. Con la planta en forma de “T”, se han podido ubicar las comunicaciones verticales en el centro del edificio, evitando pasillos largos e incómodos para los clientes. La base del hotel, rodeada de lagos que evocan la proximidad del río, alberga las áreas públicas del mismo en tres niveles. Su fachada responde a sus funciones y a la integración arquitectónica con la torre de habitaciones.

A study of the urban and architectural profile of Shanghai determined the proportions of the building as well as the use of materials such as steel, gray or glass green granite from China. With the base in a "T" shape, the vertical communications have been able to be located in the center of the building, avoiding long corridors and any discomfort for guests. The base of the hotel, surrounded by lakes that evoke the proximity of the river, houses the public areas of the three levels. Its facade responds to its architectural features and integration with the tower rooms.

Este restaurante para empleados situado en la sede central de la compañía Erco, en Lüdenscheid, Alemania, reúne en 700 metros cuadrados los principios de diseño, funcionales y directrices de esta empresa líder en la industria de luminarias. En él, los 800 empleados de la compañía, pueden disfrutar de comedor y una gran cocina, en un ambiente agradable. Como no podía ser de otro modo, la iluminación desempeña un papel fundamental en todo el proyecto.

This employee restaurant located in the central headquarters of the Erco company, in Lüdenscheid, Germany, brings the principles of design and function together in 700 square meters, merging them with the directives of this lighting industry leader. Here, the 800 company employees can enjoy the dining room and a large kitchen in a pleasant atmosphere. Since it could not possibly be any other way, lighting plays a fundamental role in the entire project.

1 y 2.- El comedor, de aproximadamente 450 metros cuadrados, está estructurado en zonas con distintas calidades de estancia. A lo largo de las ventanas, están dispuestas largas mesas de madera de haya para 10 personas cada una. Invitan a comer en grupos grandes para fomentar la comunicación. Una tarima de madera en el centro de la sala sirve de unión. En ella, se encuentran mesas individuales para cuatro a seis personas, así como una zona de lounge, aquí se desprende un ambiente más íntimo para conversaciones tranquilas. Otra zona conecta las largas mesas del comedor, en este caso mesas altas para desayunos rápidos, tentempiés o el café después de la comida (foto más pequeña).Las velas de techo colgando a diferente altura y la iluminación refuerzan ópticamente la distribución del espacio. Sobre el mobiliario, proyectores adaptados en raíles electrificados y luminarias empotrables sitúan cada una de las áreas en la luz adecuada. De esta forma, las mesas pequeñas están escenificadas íntimamente como islas de luz, mientras que las mesas grandes reciben una iluminación más bien bañadora con sutiles acentos sobre los ramos de flores amarillas típicos de Erco.

The dining room, approximately 450 square meters in size, is constructed of areas with different gathering qualities. Along the windows, long beechwood tables for 10 people each are available. They invite diners to eat in larger groups to encourage communication. A wooden dais in the center of the room is designed for meeting friends. Individual tables for four to six people are found here, as well as a lounge area which has a more intimate atmosphere designed for pleasant conversation.Another area connects the long dining room tables, tall tables for quick breakfasts, snacks, or coffee after a meal (smaller photo).The ceiling coverings hung at different heights in combination with the illumination optically reinforce the distribution of space. Over the furnishings, adjustable track-mounted spotlights and recessed lamps illuminate each of the areas in appropriate light. With this lighting, the small tables are intimately staged as islands of light, while the larger tables are bathed in light touched with subtle accents over branches of yellow flowers typical of Erco.

| INTENCIONALIDAD Y FILOSOFÍA DE LA OBRA: Erco GmbH es una de las empresas líderes de la industria de luminarias a nivel mundial. La empresa familiar,

fundada en 1934 en Lüdenscheid, opera con más de 60 sociedades afiliadas, sucursales y representaciones en todo el mundo. En colaboración con diseñadores,

luminotécnicos y arquitectos desarrolla líneas de productos para todos los campos de la iluminación arquitectónica. Siguiendo la filosofía de la empresa "Luz

en vez de luces", no se ofrecen objetos de luz para amueblar el espacio, sino luminarias que hacen las veces de instrumentos de la luminotecnia. Fomentar la

comunicación entre los empleados de las distintas áreas, aumentar la identificación con la empresa y contribuir a la salud, son los objetivos que están presentes

los proyectores de Gobo transmiten la impresión de estar caminando bajo un techo de hojas iluminadas por luz veraniega. Sobre las espaciosas mesas altas para

el café después de la comida, la iluminación pone un sutil acento sobre los ramos de flores típicos de Erco. La cocina ha sido concebida como cocina abierta y

a la vista. Los comensales pueden observar la preparación de las comidas y una iluminación armonizada refuerza la presentación, para ello se utiliza luminarias

altamente eficientes como las lámparas de halogenuros metálicos y lámparas de vapor de sodio de alta presión.

a meal, the lighting creates a subtle accent over branches of flowers typical of Erco. The kitchen has been conceived as an open kitchen where diners can

observe the preparation of meals and harmonious lighting strengthens the presentation. High efficiency lighting, including metal halide lamps and high-

pressure sodium vapor lamps are used to achieve this effect.

3, y 4.- Alrededor de un tercio de la superficie se ha utilizado para la nueva cocina. Ésta ha sido concebida, siguiendo las tendencias actuales de la gastronomía, como cocina a la vista, de manera que los comensales pueden ver la preparación de las comidas. Los cocineros con sus trajes blancos resaltan sobre las paredes negras embaldosadas. Conceptos de iluminación armonizados refuerzan la apetitosa presentación de las comidas. En este espacio, Erco utiliza la distinta reproducción cromática de las luminarias altamente eficientes como las lámparas de halogenuros metálicos y lámparas de vapor de sodio de alta presión.Una luz de acento brillante favorece la apetitosa presentación de las comidas, en la zona de recogida de platos y de autoservicio. Los proyectores empotrables Compar sobre el mostrador de entrega de las comidas, equipados con lentes de display, producen una distribución luminosa fuertemente alargada y proporcionan así grandes distancias entre los ejes. Están equipadas por pares con lámparas HST y HIT, los espectros combinados de las cuales proporcionan una óptima reproducción cromática para la presentación de las comidas.

About a third of the square footage has been used for the new kitchen. This has been conceived, following current gastronomical trends, as an open kitchen, so that diners can watch meal preparation. The chefs in their white uniforms stand out against black tiled walls. Harmonious lighting concepts reinforce the appetizing presentation of meals.In this area, Erco chooses the specific chromatic range found in high efficiency lighting, including metal halide lamps and high-pressure sodium vapor lamps.Brilliant accent lighting favors the appetizing presentation of meals in the self-service and order pick-up areas. Adjustable Compar spotlights over the order counter, equipped with display lenses, produce a strongly elongated lighting distribution, creating the appearance of great distances between the axes. El gancho especial: En las zonas de los pasillos, proyectores de Gobo transmiten la impresión de que el cliente está caminando bajo un techo de hojas iluminadas por luz veraniega.

7 y 8.- En la foto grande: Una estantería con iluminación posterior entre los accesos al comedor es el punto de atracción visual en el restaurante. En ella, se exponen productos de los 75 años de historia de la empresa Erco, desde la lámpara de mesilla de noche de los años 30 hasta los clásicos del diseño mundialmente conocidos. Para presentar de forma uniforme los diversos objetos expuestos, la pared detrás de la estantería se inunda con luz LED de color que cambia de forma dinámica. Las piezas de exposición están parcialmente destacadas desde delante con proyectores, otras aparecen sólo como contornos de sombra en la trama de la estantería. El nuevo restaurante ocupa el espacio de las antiguas salas, completamente acondicionadas, de la cafetería del semisótano de un pabellón de fabricación de los años 60. Se inauguró con motivo del 75º aniversario de la empresa.

In the large photo: Shelving with rear lighting along the dining room entries is the point of visual reference within the restaurant. Products from the 75 years of Erco's history, from a nightstand lamp from the thirties to classic designs known worldwide, are displayed here. To present the very different objects displayed in a uniform manner, the wall behind the shelving is inundated with light from colored LEDs that actively change. Some pieces in the display are partially highlighted from the front by spotlights, while others appear only as shadowy contours in the outline of the shelving. The new restaurant, completely refitted, occupies the old cafeteria rooms located in the half-basement of a production building from the sixties. The project was inaugurated for the company's 75th anniversary.

Blub Lounge es un versátil local de ocio nocturno situado en Mataró, Barcelona, con una original propuesta decorativa en la que iluminación, formas, colores y mobiliario recrean la experiencia de formar parte de un universo bajo el agua. Un pequeño cosmos submarino donde se fusionan el servicio de cenas con la música de discoteca y los juegos de luces se convierten en reflejo de los rayos del sol bajo el agua.

Blub Lounge is a versatile spot for night-time leisure located in Mataró, Barcelona, with an original decorative pretense in which illumination, shapes, colors, and furnishings recreate the sensation of being part of an underwater universe. A small underwater cosmos where dinner service is fused with disco-tech music and the play of light becomes the reflection of the sun's rays under the sea.

1 y 2.- La primera inmersión se realiza nada más traspasar la puerta. El interior continuo permite establecer circuitos de interacción. Para acentuar la fluidez de espacios públicos, los cerramientos quedan en las propias paredes mediante la incorporación de nuevos elementos, como cortinas Kriska de pequeñas piezas de aluminio anodizado azules que se entrelazan formando una cadena ligera y versátil a modo de faldón en la parte superior del local. Actúa tanto de forma decorativa como funcional, pues además de encargarse de delimitar espacios, crea los brillos, color y movimientos propios del agua. El esquema del local permite desarrollar diferentes usos: conciertos, discoteca, restaurante, zona vip, copas…, lo que lo convierte en un local versátil y fluido para poder ejercer diferentes usos dentro de un mismo espacio.La puerta de entrada al local está enmarcada por motivos vegetales, en consonancia con las formas orgánicas que decoran el interior.

The first immersion takes place as you step through the doorway. The open interior allows areas of interaction to be established. To accentuate the fluidity of the common areas, the enclosures remain part of the walls themselves through the incorporation of new elements, such as Kriska curtains made up of small, blue anodized aluminum pieces interlaced to form a light, versatile chain skirting the upper reaches of the locale. This element has both decorative and functional purposes, as, in addition to delimiting the various areas within the locale, it recreates the flashes of light, color, and movement of water. The locale's floor plan allows it to be used for multiple purposes: concerts, club, restaurant, VIP area, bar..., making it a fluid, versatile locale that can be put to different uses within a single area.The locale's entrance door is framed with plant motifs, in keeping with the organic forms decorating the interior.

part of an underwater universe, a small sub-aquatic cosmos. The open interior allows areas of interaction to be established. The central area contains a

"Y"-shaped structure of metal used to line up and distribute the tables, creating distinct geometric compositions and atmospheres. The Kriska curtains have

both decorative and functional purposes, as, in addition to delimiting various areas, they recreate the flashes of light, color, and movement of water. Key

components are the RGB LED lighting and the lamps of hanging seaweed.

3, y 4.- El local se organiza en una sola planta prácticamente rectangular donde se sitúan los diferentes ambientes a distintos niveles. En la parte izquierda moldeada a base de volúmenes curvos, se sitúa una sirena compuesta a modo de collage por un secuencia de platos, piedras de cristal y abridores. Un gran espejo vertical, ubicado en la pared de acceso, multiplica el espacio y refleja la diversidad del local. La zona central de restaurante contiene una estructura central en forma de “Y” metálica para alinear y distribuir las mesas, creando distintas composiciones geométricas y ambientes según la necesidad del local y que se transforma en pista de baile.

The locale is based on an almost rectangular, single-level floor plan where different atmospheres are indicated by changes in ceiling height. In the area to the left, molded of voluminous curves, sits a mermaid composed of a collage of plates, glass stones, and bottle openers. A large vertical mirror, located on the access wall, multiplies the locale's area and reflects its diversity.The restaurant's central area contains a "Y"-shaped structure of metal used to line up and distribute the tables, creating distinct geometric compositions and atmospheres according to the locale's needs. This area also transforms into a dance floor.

5 .- La zona vip esta diseñada con jardines verticales. Aquí son las plantas de distintas especies las que geometrizan el espacio partiendo de formas modulares a distintas alturas que, además de generar una atmosfera natural y viva, protegen y permiten intimidad y cobijo para evadirse de la multitud.

The VIP area is carefully designed of vertical gardens. Here, plants of various species divide the area into geometric modules of varying heights which, in addition to creating a natural, living environment, provide intimacy and shelter for those wishing to escape the crowds.

6 .-Un componente clave de este micro-cosmos son las luces de colores a partir de led RGB y las lámparas a modo de algas colgantes que se entrelazan con los haces de luz. La líneas de focos espectaculares integran un ambiente especial y sofisticado. El mobiliario está diseñado exclusivamente para integrarse con la arquitectura perimetral.

Key components in this micro-cosmos are the colored lighting from RGB LEDs and lamps of hanging seaweed intertwining with beams of light. The lines of spectacular spot lights create a special, sophisticated atmosphere. The furnishings were designed exclusively to integrate into the perimetral architecture.

7 y 8.- Dos barras simétricas, con una decoración basada en la configuración de creaciones semicirculares, colores verde-azulados y vegetación, acentúan más el concepto. Los sobres de Eco Star Light by Cosentino se convierten en superficies curvas de material reciclado de color negro, que gracias a su proceso de fabricación y composición ofrecen un producto de diseño innovador, ecológico y sostenible. Los brillos que éste nos proporciona se relacionan directamente con el entorno. Detrás de una de las barras se encuentra una Palmera chic compuesta mediante piezas de cristal a modo de collage para integrase con los botelleros de la contrabarra. El escenario, emergente del suelo a modo de roca, permite una visión completa del local.

Two symmetrical bars with decor based on rounded creations in blue-green colors and vegetation located throughout further accentuate the pretense. The Eco Star Light countertops by Cosentino become curved, black surfaces of recycled material, incorporating an innovative, ecological, and sustainable design product thanks to their manufacturing process and composition. The brilliance that this element provides relates it directly to its surroundings.Behind one of the bars stands a chic Palm tree made up of a collage of glass, integrating it with the bottle racks backing the bar. The scenery, emerging rock-like from the floor, permits a view of the entire locale.

FUERTE PERSONALIDADSTRONG PERSONALITY

Una ambiciosa obra de rehabilitación ha rescatado para la cadena NH Hoteles una imponente mansión nobiliaria del S.XIX, emplazada en el corazón del bullicioso y bohemio Barrio de las Letras de Madrid. El resultado es un lujoso establecimiento de cinco estrellas, con 84 habitaciones, decorado por el estudio de arquitectura y diseño de Ramón Esteve, donde la luz es protagonista indiscutible y en el que se han respetado elementos originales del inmueble como las bóvedas o sus características balconadas.

An ambitious work of restoration has rescued, for the NH chain, an imposing 19th-century nobility mansion located in the heart of the boisterous and bohemian Barrio de las Letras in Madrid. The result is a luxurious five-star hotel, with 84 rooms, decorated by Ramón Esteve's studio of architecture and design, where the light is the indisputable protagonist and in which original elements of the building have been respected, such as the vaults or its characteristic balconies.

1 y 2.-La percepción del espacio de manera global, considerando cada elemento y cada acabado como parte esencial del mismo y no como elementos superpuestos, genera un resultado que seduce por su simplicidad y por su identidad. El conjunto de la propuesta dota al hotel de una fuerte personalidad, con una gran carga ambiental que seduce por su unión de historia y contemporaneidad. Elementos singulares, antiguos y nuevos, combinados con maestría, se pueden ver en todo el edificio. En el vestíbulo y la recepción grandes volúmenes metálicos iluminados, suspendidos bajo los lucernarios, dan la bienvenida al huésped, mientras la madera de roble ahumado, los bronces bruñidos y las pieles en tonos tabaco y visón aportan la calidez necesaria frente a los suelos de mármol. The global perception of the space, considering each element and each finish as an essential part of it and not as superimposed elements, creates a result that seduces for its simplicity and for its identity. The proposal altogether endows the hotel with a strong personality, with a great ambiance that seduces for its reunion of history and contemporaneity. Unique, old, and new elements, masterfully combined, are seen in all the building. In the lobby and the reception, large metallic lit volumes suspended under the skylights welcome the guest, while the smoked oak wood, the polished bronzes, and the furs in tobacco and mink tones contribute with the warmth necessary to contrast with the marble floors. El hotel cuenta Igualmente con una zona de buffet en la que vuelven a estar presentes los grandes volúmenes metálicos iluminados sobre la zona de presentación de las comidas. 6The different configurations of the hotel rooms allow choosing among attractive vaulted spaces, spacious rooms with double-height ceilings, or warm attics. Careful attention was paid to each detail, such as the back-lit fur headrest, writing desk upholstered in fur that hides a vanity mirror in its interior, and wide and soft bed foot elements. ESTABLECIMIENTO: Palacio de Tepa. El nuevo hotel perteneciente a la cadena NH está situado en el Barrio de Las Letras de Madrid, entre la Plaza del Ángel y

la calle Atocha. Cuenta con 84 habitaciones y tres salas de reuniones. Su oferta gastronómica se materializa en el restaurante Palacio de Tepa y en el Estado

Puro, que será el segundo restaurante de Paco Roncero en Madrid. El hotel ofrece un servicio premium que incluye mayordomía, una ‘carta de mimos’, `vip desk’ y

Establecimiento de la cadena NH, que hace el número 39 en la capital. Rescata un antiguo palacete clasicista erigido en 1808 para servir de hogar a los entonces

Condes de Montijo y Tepa. El Palacio ocupaba, además, el solar de la antigua Fonda de San Sebastián, punto de encuentro habitual para una de las tertulias

literarias más vivas del S.XVIII. La mansión palaciega actual, que fue reconvertida en edificio de viviendas a mediados del S.XIX, destruida parcialmente por un

incendio en el preludio del siglo XX, confiscada durante la guerra civil y transformada en local de oficinas y hasta en una academia de peluquería, ha recuperado

su sabor añejo, tras las obras de restauración, que han querido paliar el descuido de años y los deterioros en las fachadas (modificadas para albergar locales) e

interiores. El reto del proyecto de interiorismo consistía en dotar de aroma contemporáneo el interior de este emblemático edificio respetando al mismo tiempo su

carácter. | PRINCIPALES PAUTAS DECORATIVAS: Elementos singulares, antiguos y nuevos, se combinan con maestría. Grandes volúmenes metálicos iluminados,

suspendidos bajo los lucernarios en la recepción y el restaurante, dejan pasar la luz natural que entra a través de los patios; mientras que la sala arqueológica

permite ver los restos encontrados bajo el suelo acristalado. La variedad de elementos no rivaliza con la consecución de un espacio homogéneo, potenciado

por el uso de colores neutros, que armonizan con los nobles mármoles a lo largo de todo el edificio. La selección de materiales, colores, textiles o muebles está

hecha para que se potencien unos a otros y se pierda el protagonismo del material a favor del conjunto. La propuesta decorativa dota al hotel de una fuerte

personalidad, con una gran carga ambiental que seduce por su unión de historia y contemporaneidad.

7 y 8.- Las distintas configuraciones de las habitaciones del hotel permiten escoger entre sugestivos espacios abovedados, espaciosas habitaciones con doble altura o cálidas buhardillas. Cada detalle ha sido cuidado al máximo en todas ellas, como el cabezal de piel retroiluminado, escritorio con secreter tapizado en piel que esconde un espejo-tocador en su interior y amplios y mullidos elementos pie de cama. La decoración de Ramón Esteve, en confortables tonos grises y beiges, juega con la omnipresencia de la luz, que entra por los amplios ventanales y por las claraboyas del techo en las estancias abuhardilladas del último piso, que crean una atmósfera particularmente acogedora (foto de la derecha).

The different configurations of the hotel rooms allow choosing among attractive vaulted spaces, spacious rooms with double-height ceilings, or warm attics. Careful attention was paid to each detail, such as the back-lit fur headrest, writing desk upholstered in fur that hides a vanity mirror in its interior, and wide and soft bed foot elements. BUILDING: Palacio de Tepa. The new hotel belonging to the NH chain is situated in the Barrio de las Letras in Madrid, between the Plaza del �ngel and Atocha

street. It has 84 rooms and three conference rooms. Its gastronomic offer materializes in both the Palacio de Tepa and in the Estado Puro restaurants; the

latter will be the second restaurant of Paco Roncero in Madrid. The hotel offers a premium service that includes butlers, a 'pampering menu', `vip desk' and

private transfer, among others. | PROJECT AUTHORS: Interior design and decoration: Ramón Esteve. A careful restoration recovers a building by Jorge Durán,

with the collaboration of Juan of Villanueva (responsible for Prado Museum and other classicist jewels) in its design. | INTENTION AND PHILOSOPHY OF THE

WORK: Building #39 of the NH chain in the capital city. It recovers an old classicist small palace erected in 1808 to accommodate the then Counts of Montijo

and Tepa. The Palace occupied, furthermore, the site of the old Fonda de San Sebastián, regular meeting point for one of the liveliest literary gatherings of the

18th century. The current palace mansion, which was restructured into a dwelling facility in the middle of the 19th century, partially destroyed by a fire in the

prelude of the 20th century, seized during the civil war and transformed into an office building and even into a salon academy, recovered its old flavor after the

works of restoration, which have wanted to alleviate the years-long carelessness and the deterioration of the facades (modified to accommodate shops) and the

interiors. The challenge of the interior design project consisted in endowing the interior of this emblematic building with a contemporary air while respecting its

character at the same time. | MAIN DECORATIVE CRITERIA: Unique, old, and new elements are masterfully combined. Large metallic lit volumes suspended under

the skylights in the reception and the restaurant allow natural light to enter through the patio, while the archaeological room allows visitors to see the remains

found under the glazed floor. The variety of elements does not compete with the attainment of a homogeneous space, highlighted by the use of neuter colors that

harmonize with the noble marbles throughout the building. The selection of materials, colors, textiles or furniture is done so that they highlight one another and

the prominence of the material is lost in favor of the collection. The decorative proposal endows the hotel with a strong personality, with a great ambiance that

seduces for its reunion of history and contemporaneity.

9, 10, 11 y 12.- Cada tipología de habitación ofrece distintas opciones de interiorismo. Entre las estancias se incluyen una lujosa suite, 13 junior suite, 2 junior suite Estado Puro y 2 Premium.Las habitaciones Premium, emplazadas en las dos esquinas del segundo piso del inmueble cuentan con amplias zonas de estar (fotos de la izquierda). Each type of room offers different options of interior design. All the rooms showcase impressive views to the streets and squares of the neighborhood, recently revamped. Small details add extra comfort, such as having a Nespresso or a premium mini-bar in the room. The spacious bathrooms have separate bathtub and shower.

15 y 16.- La luz es protagonista indiscutible en la decoración de un hotel cuya restauración ha respetado las bóvedas originales del inmueble así como sus características balconadas. Dos patios interiores encalados en blanco, rehabilitados de acuerdo con su antiguo aire de corrala, permiten que la luz se cuele por los pasillos y corredores interiores del establecimiento.

Light is the indisputable protagonist in the decoration of a hotel whose restoration has respected the original vaults of the building as well as its characteristic balconies. Two interior whitewashed patios, restored according to its old courtyard air, allow the light to flood the walkways and interior corridors of the building.16

17, 18 y 19.- El hotel se aloja en un edificio histórico de estilo clasicista construido por el Conde de Tepa en el Barrio de las Letras de Madrid, concluido originalmente en 1808 según proyecto de Jorge Durán. Los restos del originario viaje de aguas de La Castellana reposan bajo el suelo acristalado de la sala de lectura de la primera planta. Recuperado durante la intervención arqueológica del edificio, este arcaico sistema de abastecimiento hidráulico conserva el mismo aljibe y las galerías que atravesaban entonces el solar del actual Palacio, para abastecer a la que era la pujante Villa de Madrid.El conjunto de la propuesta dota al hotel de una fuerte personalidad, con una gran carga ambiental que seduce por su unión de historia y contemporaneidad. The hotel is situated in an historic facility of classicist style built by the Count of Tepa in the Barrio de las Letras in Madrid, originally finished in 1808 according to the project by Jorge Durán The remains of the original water system of La Castellana rest under the glazed floor of the reading room in the first floor. Recovered during the archaeological intervention of the building, this archaic water system conserves the same well and the galleries that used to go through the site of the current Palace, to supply with water the then booming Villa de Madrid.The proposal altogether endows the hotel with a strong personality, with a great ambiance that seduces for its reunion of history and contemporaneity. Azabache es un restaurante de cocina de temporada situado en Albacete. Decorado por Tomás Alía, combina de manera exquisita elementos tradicionales y modernos, mientras que el principal hilo conductor del proyecto es el confort espacial. Un espacio dentro del cual ocurren cosas, creando ambientes siempre diferentes y agradables, que dan como resultado un local cool en pleno corazón de La Mancha.

Azabache is a restaurant specializing in seasonal cuisine located in Albacete. Decorated by Tomás Alía in an exquisite combination of traditional and modern elements, the central thread running through the project is spatial comfort. The result is a space in which things happen, creating atmospheres that are always different and pleasurable, producing a cool locale right in the heart of La Mancha.

1 y 2.- El Restaurante Azabache tiene 375 m2 y una capacidad de 100 comensales aproximadamente. Es un concepto de restaurante cool, fashion, donde se ha creado, dentro del mismo, espacios diferentes. En él, la mezcla de materiales naturales, como la madera o la piedra, y otros más contemporáneos, como vidrios rotos, lacados, cristales de color, metacrilato, gráficas impresas…, consiguen un ambiente de armonía y equilibrio.Desde la entrada (foto de la izquierda) nos acompaña una doble chapa microperforada con forma curva sobre la cual se aplicó a gran escala una gráfica floral. En este espacio el elemento dominante es la gran barra de alabastro con cambiacolor.

The Azabache Restaurant consists of 375 m2 with a seating capacity of approximately 100 diners. It is based on a cool, fashionable concept, where different spaces are created within the restaurant itself. The mix of natural materials, such as wood or stone, and other more contemporary materials, such as broken glass, lacquers, colored glass, methacrylate, and printed graphics, create an atmosphere of harmony and balance.From the entrance (photo on left), a double panel, curved and micro perforated, accompanies us with a floral graphic on a grand scale. The dominant element in this area is the large alabaster bar with color-changing properties.1

naturales, maderas lacadas, piedras, acero inoxidable.

3, y 4.- Desde la entrada un gesto nos conduce al interior de la sala. La iluminación es perimetral, investigando la combinación de una iluminación cálida y tenue para cenas, con determinados elementos cambiacolor, que crean los puntos fuertes del restaurante, (después de la cena, en la sobremesa, sube la intensidad del color de la luz).En el lado izquierdo, comienza en la pared una gráfica floral con fondo blanco, interrumpida por una zona de mesas y bancada corrida retranqueada en el muro y con la misma grafica floral, pero invirtiendo los colores. From the entrance, a gesture moves us to the interior of the room. 5, 6 y 7.- El hilo conductor de este proyecto es la iluminación. Una iluminación ambiental cálida, confortable y relajada, debido a lámparas con luz muy tenue que se combinan con otra iluminación espectacular donde determinados objetos tienen un toque de luz desenfadado y actual, cambiando su color como ocurre con la barra de la entrada, los paneles de cristal en el fondo del local, la pared trasera del privé, el suelo del botellero… todos estos elementos son el contrapunto contemporáneo, una mezcla de ambientes que crean una atmósfera relajada, elegante y divertida.Los materiales más utilizados son todos de vanguardia: el vidrio en color, la chapa metálica con color, materiales plásticos, metacrilatos, chapa silueteadas y retroiluminadas, gráficas, maderas naturales, maderas lacadas, piedras y acero inoxidable.

The connecting thread throughout this project is the illumination. 8 y 9.- El suelo del interior se retroilumina, dando forma a un apartado que divide en dos la circulación hacia la sala y que nos conduce de la sala principal a la espectacular bodega, donde vemos todas las botellas colocadas horizontalmente. Abrazando a éstas, una bancada rodeada de mesas situadas sobre un suelo retroiluminado que resalta con los reflejos de las botellas de vino. El gran elemento dominante es el Botellero que actúa de eje central y alrededor del cual se organiza todo el espacio. Su material, vidrio transparente, consigue exaltar el espacio y actuar de reclamo del restaurante.

The interior floor is backlit, giving form to a section that divides the circulation area in two, directing us from the main room to the spectacular wine cellar, where we see all of the wine bottles stored horizontally. Surrounding these, a work area surrounded by tables is situated on a backlit floor, creating a striking image of reflections from the wine bottles. The large, dominating element is the Wine Rack, which acts as the central axis around which the entire area is organized. Made of transparent glass, this feature enriches the area and acts as an enticement within the restaurant.8

10, 11 y 12.- A la izquierda del botellero tenemos un privé con la pared en dm recortado al láser, creando formas sinuosas y con retroiluminación trasera cambiacolor. Las paredes laterales y el techo están forrados de lamas verticales de madera natural, y se accede al privé mediante cristal y puertas correderas de lamas de madera horizontales que dejan entrever el interior.

To the right of the wine rack, we have a private room with the rear wall of laser-cut mdf, creating sinuous forms with back-lighting that changes color. The side walls and the ceiling are covered with vertical slats of natural wood, and this private area is accessed through glass and sliding doors of horizontal wood slats that provide a glimpse of the interior.

Confort, durabilidad, fácil mantenimiento y, como no, mucho y buen diseño, impregna la selección de mobiliario para restauración que les presentamos en las siguientes páginas. Factor estético que también comparte, cada vez más, la elección de elementos de climatización para acondicionar un local de hostelería. Y es que, si ahorro energético y respecto medioambiental son indispensables, su aspecto exterior los valoriza de cara a un interiorismo que, lejos de ocultarlos, opta por hacerlos partícipes en la decoración del establecimiento.

De hecho Tabard “viste” una elegante cubierta rígida cuya forma recuerda a una de las prendas de vestir más representativas de finales del siglo XVIII: el tabardo, un abrigo largo sin costuras que se envolvía alrededor del cuerpo. La revolucionaria percha iluminada para abrigos que gira 120º representa un cambio en las funciones. Mientras que los percheros tradicionales están cubiertos de ropa, Tabard por el contrario cubre las prendas, las protege del polvo, dándole a este objeto una apariencia original e inusual. La fachada acristalada de todos los espacios públicos se ha realizado con muro cortina MX Estructural de Technal con aspecto de Vidrio Exterior Encolado, dotando a la obra de una sensación de gran transparencia, óptima para lograr una buena integración del edifi cio en el entorno y disfrutar de las vistas de este espacio natural. Para los acabados se han usado materiales naturales en colores grises, verdes y negros que se combinan con el hormigón, para acentuar el aspecto casi monacal del conjunto. En las habitaciones, amplias, diáfanas y en tonos pastel, se han instalado correderas Saphir GXi, que gracias a su línea esbelta y a sus altas prestaciones térmico-acústicas sintonizan con el interior y el exterior del conjunto, a la vez que garantizan un confort óptimo.

Imitating the simple but welcoming appearance of the old cloisters, the Món Hotel, designed by Espinet and Ubach Architects, has 89 rooms and two restaurants, one of which has earned a Michelin star. The glass façade of the public areas has been created with MX Estructural curtain walls by Technal, creating the appearance of a Sealed Glass Exterior and giving the building a feeling of transparency, which proves to be optimal for integrating the building with its surroundings and enjoying the views of this natural area. Belleza y sensualidad son las principales características que se respiran de este proyecto precisamente en la forma en que el diseñador reinterpreta las sillas con respaldo ovalado, propias de la época de Luis XVI.
