NUEVAS EXPECTATIVASPodríamos definir de distintas maneras la esencia de

nuestra edición exponiendo mil formas de mostrar las

últimas novedades acaecidas en el ámbito del diseño

dentro del entorno hostelero. En nuestra búsqueda de la

renovación comenzamos el pasado trimestre dando un giro

más novedoso al formato. Cambio que ha cumplido todas

las expectativas esperadas recibiendo felicitaciones, elogios

y aprobaciones por parte de anunciantes, colaboradores y

lectores que han aplaudido el nuevo diseño de Decoración

Comercial Hostelería. Estos aplausos nos hacen confiar

y tener todas las esperanzas puestas en la llegada de

una nueva era para el diseño, dejando atrás una época

tormentosa, apaleada por la crisis, y viendo de nuevo la

luz donde todo empieza de nuevo a reactivarse. Es tiempo

de nuevas expectativas y las esperamos con los brazos

abiertos.

En esta edición, volvemos a dar cabida a la luz, como

uno de los principales componentes encargados de dar

personalidad y hacer palpitar a un espacio. Para ello,

hemos escogido una variada selección de los productos

más sobresalientes de reconocidas y prestigiosas empresas

especializadas en este sector. Otro de los especiales a los

que dedicamos atención en este número es un muestrario

de piezas de menaje y accesorios para poner a punto las

mesas más exigentes. Y para finalizar, cerraremos este

apartado con un dossier enfocado a las últimas tecnologías

en domótica y comunicaciones.

Los atractivos de espacios de diseño como hoteles,

restaurantes, clubs, spas... presentan tantos estilos

diferentes como clientela visitante. Por ello, ofrecen

ofertas que identifican a cada uno de estos lugares como

únicos e irrepetibles. En cada número de nuestra revista

nuestra intención es mostrar nuevas emociones, nuevos

diseños y nuevos destinos que conocer. En este número,

estos nuevos sueños vienen de la mano de un periplo por

emplazamientos como un antiguo pero renovado palacio

del siglo XVI, un spa en Lanzarote con un nuevo concepto

o el recién inaugurado hotel Mandarín Oriental Barcelona,

entre otros. Todos concebidos para vivir experiencias

inolvidables. ¿Con cuál se quedan?

NEW EXPECTATIONSWe could define the essence of our edition in different

manners, showing a thousand ways of delivering the

latest design news in the hotel environment. In our

search for renewal we started the past quarter by

giving a more original touch to the format. The change

met every expectation and received congratulations,

compliments, and approvals on the part of advertisers,

collaborators, and readers who have applauded the

new design of the Decoración Comercial Hostelería

magazine. These accolades have given us the

confidence we need and have made us put all our

hopes on the arrival of a new era for design, leaving

behind stormy times, beaten by the crisis, and seeing

the light once more when everything comes back to

life again. It is time for new expectations and we look

forward to them with open arms.

In this edition, we give once more room to light, as

one of the main components responsible for giving

personality and making a space alive. For this, we

have chosen a varied selection of the most outstanding

products of recognized and prestigious companies

specialized in this sector. Another of the special

issues that we have paid attention to in this number

is a sampler of items and accessories to get the most

demanding tables ready. And to conclude, we will

close this section with a dossier focused on the latest

technologies in home automation and communications.

The attractive design spaces as hotels, restaurants,

clubs, and spas... feature different styles, just as

diverse as our visitors. For that reason, they offer sales

that identify each one of these places as unique and

unrepeatable. In each edition of our magazine our

intention is to show new emotions, new designs, and

new destinations to explore. In this number, these new

dreams come in hand with a trip through places such

as an old but renewed palace of the 16th century, a

spa in Lanzarote with a new concept, or the recently

inaugurated Mandarín Oriental Barcelona hotel,

among others. All conceived to live unforgettable

La máquina ofrece la posibilidad de elegir entre diferentes tipos de sabores, y dispone de conexión a Internet. Por ahora no está prevista su comercialización, simplemente es un nuevo concepto a partir del cual trabajar para desarrollar nuevas máquinas.

El nuevo diseño representa una forma innovadora de introducir la luz solar en los edificios. El Premio Reddot es un distintivo de calidad reconocido mundialmente al que han optado más de 1.636 empresas de 57 países, este año. El jurado ha evaluado 4.252 proyectos. Los ganadores recibirán su galardón en una ceremonia que se celebrará en julio.

The Lovegrove solar tube is a new product that propagates natural light through the roof to rooms that are habitually illuminated electrically, and is a complement to the Velux solar tube. The new design represents an innovative way of introducing natural light into buildings. The Red Dot Award is a sign of quality recognized worldwide, which more than 1,636 businesses in 57 countries vied for this year. The judges have evaluated 4,252 products. Los Premios Lamp Lighting Solutions 2010 han cerrado su plazo de inscripción con un total de 300 proyectos recibidos, repartidos en cuatro catergorías: Iluminación Exterior Arquitectónica, Iluminación de Interiores, Iluminación Urbana y Paisaje, y Students Proposals. Este exitoso resultado en su tercera edición hace evidente la consolidación, a nivel nacional e internacional, de estos Premios en el mundo de la iluminación. El veredicto final se anunciará en un evento celebrado en Barcelona durante el mes de junio de 2010. El Jurado determinará cuatro finalistas por categoría y se premiarán a los cuatro ganadores: Iluminación Exterior Arquitectónica, Iluminación de Interiores, Iluminación Urbana y Paisaje , y Students Proposals. Además, el mejor proyecto de las cuatro categorías recibirá el galardón del Primer Premio Lamp Lighting Solutions 2010. Con todas las obras finalistas se editará el libro Lighting Concepts 2010.

El sector continúa firme en sus pasos hacia el “going green in hospitality”. El tema de preocupación en convenciones y simposiums no es otra que la sostenibilidad y las buenas prácticas en cuanto al diseño ecológico y responsable con productos para locales e instalaciones colectivas. La firma de sillas de diseño para la hostelería Capdell no pasa por alto el cuidado del medio ambiente y proyecta modelos en madera de haya que provienen de bosques de tala controlada, como los programas Elizabetha y Éboli. Capdell ha conseguido los certificados más exigentes para las maderas que utiliza en su proceso de producción (su principal proveedor es empresa PEFC). Las sillas de Capdell regularmente son instaladas en construcciones sostenibles y en edificios ecológicos con evaluación LEED® para interiores comerciales.

The prevailing theme at conventions and symposiums is none other than sustainability and best practices in regard to responsible ecological design with products for businesses and facilities collectively. The hospitality industry chair designing firm Capdell does not overlook their responsibility to care for the environment, and plans models in beech wood that comes from controlled logging forests, such as the Elizabetha and Éboli lines. FINANCIACIÓN A COSTE CERO A EXPOSITORES / FINANCING AT ZERO COST TO EXHIBITORSFeria Habitat Valencia Feria Hábitat Valencia ha lanzado su campaña de comercialización del espacio expositivo para su próxima edición, que se celebrará del 28 de septiembre al 2 de octubre, con una apuesta de financiación

a coste cero para sus expositores. Se trata de una modalidad en la que la firma que contrate su espacio expositivo junto con los servicios que ofrece la Central de Servicios de Feria Valencia podrá financiar sin ningún tipo de interés, comisión o gasto adicional los gastos derivados de su exposición en el certamen. Estas facilidades financieras se enmarcan en un acuerdo global firmado entre Feria Valencia y Bancaja mediante el cual esta entidad financiará a los expositores un importe máximo de 100.000 euros a un plazo máximo de 12 meses. Los costes financieros de la operación, del 4’5%, serán asumidos por Feria Valencia mientras que los gastos de formalización de las operaciones correrán a cargo de la caja valenciana.

Feria Habitat Valencia has launched their marketing campaign for the next edition's exhibition space, which will be held from September 28 to October 2, with an offer of financing at zero cost to exhibitors. The offer consists of financing for expenses related to exhibiting in the fair with no interest, commission, or additional fees for any firm that contracts an exhibition space along with the services offered by the Feria Valencia Service Center. These financial terms are laid out in a global agreement signed by Feria Valencia and Bancaja, through which this financial institution will finance exhibitors for up to 100,000 Euros for a maximum term of 12 months. Targetti. Aeros, design by Ross Lovegrove for Louis Poulsen. The perforated design of this lamp is inspired in the organic structures of the bone tissue. It is made from anodized aluminum, cast in two parts, with the joint serving to underpin the design. It has a perforated pattern at the rounded side. The surface presents a satin aspect similar to that of glass polished with a spurt of sand.

17Vibia. Beta. En el campo de la iluminación, las zonas de paso y los distribuidores son una zona de juego algo complicada de iluminar. Vibia y Ramos & Bassols han realizado un diseño de formas geométricas y minimalistas, que destaca por su integración en el espacio sin apenas sobresalir 6,5 cm en su parte más ancha. Un halo de luz rodea al aplique, que parece estar inspirado en los efectos de los eclipses solares, proporcionando una luz indirecta.

Pallucco y Rubelli. New release of the Fortuny lamp. The fabric becomes the protagonist together with the light. The shade, created by the textile designer Dominique Kieffer, expresses Fortuny’s capacity of always being current and renewed with elegance. 03Lamp. Sistema de control y regulación de iluminación Scening. Este sistema utiliza la red eléctrica para controlar la luz creando escenarios para distintas necesidades en un único espacio. La tecnología utilizada es la Powerline que utiliza la red eléctrica como medio de transmisión de datos. Su principal ventaja respecto a otros sistemas de control y regulación es que reduce los costes y el tiempo de instalación ya que no implica un cableado adicional a la instalación eléctrica. El sistema está formado por una botonera táctil (capaz de controlar hasta cinco escenarios distintos, y cada uno de ellos puede estar compuesto por cinco grupos de luminarias, denominados canales), un mando a distancia opcional y reguladores Powerline, convertidores, transformadores y fuentes de alimentación.

Lamp. Scening, lighting control and regulation system. This system uses the electric network to control the light creating scenes for different needs in one single space. Este antiguo y emblemático palacio urbano de los Merás, de planta rectangular, está enclavado en pleno centro de la villa de Tineo, capital del municipio asturiano del mismo nombre a 72 km. de Oviedo, capital del Principado de Asturias. Construido en 1525, el Palacio de Merás constituye uno de los ejemplos de arquitectura civil palaciega del siglo XVI en Asturias. El hotel, con una superficie construida de 2.824 m2, dispone de 27 habitaciones y 2 suites, cafetería, restaurante, spa, bodega propia, salones privados, etc. Así como de un espacio dedicado a la exposición de una colección de antigüedades de más de 1000 piezas.

This ancient and emblematic urban palace of the Merás, built on a rectangular floor plan, is located in the very center of the town of Tineo, capital of the Asturian municipality bearing the same name, and is 72 km from Oviedo, capital of the Principality of Asturias. La concepción decorativa del edificio es bastante fluida, el principal reto se ha sostenido en la preocupación del propietario por conciliar la máxima calidad que requiere un hotel de estas características. Su interiorismo es sencillo incluso minimalista; de líneas rectas y acabados nobles de gran calidad; con maderas de roble en acabado nogal, y piezas diseñadas a medida para cada espacio para descubrir el sabor de su pasado pero con todas las prestaciones y comodidades del futuro. El palacio de Merás es un espacio vivo con un sinfín de servicios. Otro de los retos cumplidos ha sido crear espacios multifuncionales adaptados a cualquier situación. Para ello se crearon diferentes piezas móviles como barras cerramientos y paneles para poder dividir los salones en varias estancias.

La primera planta de habitaciones se caracteriza por sus grandes balconadas con arcos de mampostería de piedra, asientos esculpidos en las gruesas paredes, que otorgan a esta planta un estilo renacentista. Por ello se han combinado textiles en beiges, dorados y marrones, de cretonas clásicas pero sencillas; lo que influyen al espacio un aire más romántico y acogedor. Estas zonas dan a un corredor que se eleva sobre el patio principal de columnas el cual ha sido recubierto por una cúpula de cristal. Sobre la cúpula se encuentra la nueva planta de construcción con grandes ventanales.

Las suites se componen de una doble planta; en la baja se encuentran dos grandes estancias, con cama de dosel de idea modernizada acorde con el resto de las líneas utilizadas en todo el hotel, una zona de relax, escritorio, TV….y un amplio aseo con bañera de hidromasaje, además de una gran escalinata de madera maciza. El diseño tanto de la recepción, como de la cafetería, o de cualquier módulo necesario, se creó a partir de la repetición de casetones que integra el mobiliario como un hilo conductor de un único diseño en cada espacio mimetizándose en el entorno, dejando que los elementos decorativos sean los protagonistas de las estancias.

The decor of the building is rather fluid, the principal challenge being the owner's concern for reconciling the superior quality required by a hotel of this type. The interior is simple, even minimalist, with straight lines and fine finishes of high quality, oak with a walnut finish, and pieces custom-designed for each area in an effort to discover the flavor of the past while including all the features and comforts of the present. The Palace of Merás is a space that is alive with unending services. One of the challenges surmounted has been the creation of multifunctional areas that can be adapted to any situation. For these areas, several different movable pieces were created, such as poles and panels, to divide the conference rooms into various sections.

The first floor of rooms is characterized by large balconies with stonework arches and seats carved into the thick walls, which give this floor a Renaissance feel. For this reason, textiles in beiges, golds, and browns have been combined in classic but simple cretonnes, which impart a more romantic and welcoming air to this area. These areas connect to a corridor that passes over the main patio and its columns, which has been covered by a glass cupola. Above the cupola you will find the newest floor, built with floor-to-ceiling windows.

The suites consist of two floors; on the lower you will find two large rooms, with a canopy bed modernized in accordance with the decor used throughout the hotel, an area for relaxing, a desk, a TV... and a large bathroom with a whirlpool tub, in addition to a great stair of solid wood. The design of the reception area, just as in the cafeteria or in any other area, was created through the repetition of coffers that integrate the furnishings like the thread of a unique design in each area, blending them into the surroundings, so that the decorative elements are the protagonists of the rooms.

AZUL MEDITERRÁNEOMEDITERRANEAN BLUEPablo Pastor, reconocido asesor gastronómico, es el artífice de este nuevo restaurante ubicado al sur de la isla de Tenerife, cuyo proyecto firma Paz de la Iglesia de Mow Design. Su nombre, Azulón Cheap & Chic y su descripción, Oriental & Mediterranean Food Fussion, plantea su concepto y la inspiración de la que surge su oferta gastronómica: una cocina que fusiona sabores y sensaciones de Oriente y el Mediterráneo.

Pablo Pastor, renowned gastronomic consultant, is the artisan of this new restaurant located on the south side of the island of Tenerife, whose planning includes Paz de la Iglesia of Mow Design. Its name, Azulón Cheap & Chic, and its description, Oriental & Mediterranean Food Fusion, arise from the idea of and are inspired by its gastronomic offerings: a cuisine that fuses flavors and sensations of the Orient and the Mediterranean.

El interiorismo del restaurante ha sido diseñado para transmitir de forma clara su imagen y las intenciones de su cocina, donde se ha fusionado un ambiente cálido, frío, sofisticado y asiático al mismo tiempo. El motivo principal de diseño del interior está inspirado en el azul del Mediterráneo fusionado con tonos marrones y blancos. Los tonos marrones, que transmiten energía y emociones positivas, contrastan con las diferentes tonalidades de azules, creando el referente a lo asiático. El espacio está distribuido a partir de tres zonas principales: el comedor, la cocina y la terraza, que se relacionan visualmente gracias a un juego de colores y materiales. Como elemento de atracción visual se ha instalado en uno de los tabiques un papel pintado personalizado para el restaurante, en el cual se reproduce una imagen de burbujas que emergen del mar. En otra de las zonas se disponen seis pantallas encastradas, circulares, retroiluminadas e impresas con las mismas burbujas del tabique anterior, dándole al espacio una sensación de calma y ligereza. La barra recorre prácticamente la totalidad del local, de su parte inferior emerge una serie de robustas lianas, a modo de algas marinas llegando al techo de la barra. En el recorrido de este elemento se encuentra un cristal tratado con vinilo translúcido que expone botellas azules iluminadas mediante leds, simulando la presencia del mar. Otro material que compone este espacio es la madera con acabado en color wengue, contrastado con una superficie blanca de corian.

En la terraza unas pérgolas de madera blanca encintadas en blanco, dan un toque personal al espacio con unas idílicas vistas al mar. En esta zona se han creado dos barras con taburetes en las que se utilizó vinilo translúcido sobre cristal con el nombre impreso del restaurante. En las paredes un vinilo especial, de alta adherencia en superficies rugosas reproduce como motivo los mismos círculos que cubren todas las cristaleras del local. En Azulón, todos los detalles están cuidados al máximo, completándose el ambiente del local con un elegido menaje y elementos decorativos que configuran la personalidad absoluta de este local.

The interior of the restaurant has been designed to clearly convey the image and intentions of its cuisine, in which it has fused an atmosphere of warmth and cold, of sophistication and of the Asian, all at the same time. The main motivation of the interior design is inspired by the blue of the Mediterranean, fused with brown and white tones. The brown tones, which convey energy and positive emotions, contrast with the different blue tones, creating a reference to the Asian. The restaurant is divided into three principal areas: the dining room, the kitchen, and the terrace, which visually relate thanks to a play on colors and materials. As a visually attractive element, wallpaper personalized for the restaurant with images of bubbles rising through the sea has been installed on one of the partitions. In another area, six recessed, backlit, circular screens impressed with the same bubbles as the wallpapered partition are displayed, giving the area a sense of calm and buoyancy. The bar runs almost the entire length of the building, and from its base a series of robust vines emerges, like seaweed, running to the top of the bar. Along the length of the bar, glass treated with translucent vinyl in the form of blue bottles and illuminated by LEDs is inserted, simulating the presence of the sea. Another material used is dark, wengue-finished wood, which contrasts with the white Corian surface.

On the terrace, white wooden pergolas wrapped in white give a personal touch to this area with idyllic views of the sea. Here, two bars have been created with stools of translucent vinyl over glass impressed with the name of the restaurant. On the walls a special vinyl is used to create a rough surface reproducing the same bubbles covering the windows of the restaurant. In Azulón, the details are given maximum attention, completing the ambiance of the restaurant with specially chosen kitchenware and decorations that fashion the complete personality of this eatery.

Esta pastelería ubicada en Rosas, Gerona, plantea el proyecto, llevado a cabo por Montse Tarragó y Mireia Cortés de MM2 Interiorisme, de una reforma en una pastelería existente de 90 m2 de gran altura, en un multiespacio que pretende conservar su uso propio de pastelería, panadería, degustación, crepería y churrería.

This bakery located in Rosas, Gerona, proposed a plan, conducted by Montse Tarragó and Mireia Cortés from MM2 Interiorisme to remodel an existing multi-story bakery 90 square meters in size, turning it into a divided area for use as pastry shop, bakery, tasting kitchen, crêperie, and churro vender.

Un mostrador discreto en silestone blanco y vidrio transparente marca la longitud del local, realzando el producto. Frío y neutro quedan divididos por la caja, lugar donde también se atenderá al cliente. La trasera en lamas de madera de arce ignífugo sobre un fondo pintado en negro, esconde un sistema móvil de cestas de pan y estantes. Toda la infraestructura necesitaba una cocina/obrador/almacén, posible gracias a la gran altura del local que permitió hacer la cocina y obrador a nivel de calle y el almacén y las instalaciones en la parte superior.

El mueble de autoservicio en acero inoxidable mate potencia la parte final de la venta, dando paso a una zona íntima de consumo y servicios. Las consumiciones se disfrutan en sillas blancas de la firma Vitra, taburetes en haya de Mobles 114, bancos en madera de arce y cojines de piel roja ignífugos, junto con mesas combinadas en silestone blanco y madera de arce, que completan el capítulo del mobiliario. La parte de la imagen gráfica también cobra un papel importante en el proyecto con imágenes de dulces, alimentos y utensilios ligados con el uso del establecimiento, incluso se ha diseñado un panel que forma, de una manera muy original, el nombre del local con diferentes productos como un croissant, granos de café, una cucharilla o una cafetera italiana entre otros.

El ambiente relajante del local se consigue con un color crema general, madera de arce ignífuga, suelo de porcelanato beige de gran formato y focos blancos. Todo contrastado con un lucernario de colores conservado, el nuevo color rojo corporativo y las imágenes de producto.

A discreet display case of white silestone and transparent glass runs the length of the building, highlighting the product. Refrigerated and room temperature cases are divided by the register, where the client is served. The rear is covered with fire-resistant MN maple-wood panels laid over a foundation of black paint, hiding a mobile system of bread baskets and shelving. The basic infrastructure for the premise of this shop requires a kitchen, a workroom, and a storefront, all possible thanks to the great height of the building which allows for a kitchen and workroom on the ground floor and the storefront and the varying shops on the upper level.

The self-serve furnishings in matte-finished stainless steel strengthen the final sales area, leading to an intimate space for dining and services. Drinks are enjoyed in white chairs from the firm Vitra, beech-wood stools from Mobles 114, maple-wood benches, and fire-resistant, red leather cushions, with maple-wood and white silestone tables, which complete the array of furniture. Graphic images also play an important role in the plan, and include images of sweets, food, and utensils connected to the services offered, as well as a specially designed panel which, in a most original fashion, forms the name of the establishment using various products, such as a croissant, coffee grounds, a teaspoon, and an Italian coffee maker, among others.

The relaxing atmosphere of the building is established with a general use of the color cream, fireproof maple wood, a floor of large beige tile, and white focal points. All of this contrasts with a colored skylight retained from the old building, the new corporate color red, and the product images.

Este Spa, situado en Lanzarote en el conocido Hotel Beatriz Playa & Spa, ofrece un nuevo concepto de Spa & Wellnes Center. El punto de partida nace de un nuevo concepto moderno y colorista, con el sello inconfundible del arquitecto Tomas Alía. El proyecto de la iluminación y la variedad de colores brillantes son las principales bases del proyecto general, junto con el objetivo principal de crear un espacio destinado a la relajación, y la paz... pero dando un paso más para obtener un diseño muy actual y exclusivo.

This Spa, located in Lanzarote at the well-known Beatriz Hotel Playa & Spa, offers the Spa & Wellness Center, a new concept in spas. The departure point for this project was born of a new, modern, and colorful idea, and bears the unmistakable stamp of the architect Tomas Alía. The lighting and the variety of brilliant colors form the primary base of the general plan, along with the principal object of creating an area destined for relaxation and peace, but going a step further to create a very exclusive and up-to-date design.

La combinación para la lograr dicho resultado ha sido por un lado el uso elemento arquitectónico que irradian luz tanto desde el suelo como desde el techo, y por otro materiales cerámicos de la firma Vitrogres de diferentes tamaños con una amplia una gama cromática que dan vida y dinamismo a cada uno de los rincones. De esta forma, se diseñó un suelo de piezas cerámicas en tonos marrones que se disponen dibujando lineas rectas que invitan a entrar. Para la piscina que actúa como eje central del espacio y las columnas del perímetro que la delimitan se utiliza una tonalidad de verdes de mayor brillo y frescura, diseñando las columnas con un tamaño en la pieza cerámica mayor. Bajando el escalón de la piscina se situan cantos rodados que generan sensación de confot y relax y ejercen un contrapunto al colorido del resto de la cerámica. La iluminación que se sitúa en el perímetro del falso techo y bajo el escalón que delimita la piscina consigue intensificar el dinamismo y crea la sensación de confort que desde un primer momento se persigue. El tratamiento de los techos es el único lugar donde se utiliza pintura, combinada con diseño de flores en algunos puntos.En las estructuras de los falsos techos de líneas curvadas, se aplica una iluminación perimetral según la disposición del espacio. The combination used to arrive at said objective is the use of architectural elements that radiate light, from the floor as well as the ceiling, and the use of ceramics of different sizes and in a wide range of colors from the firm Vitrogres to give life and dynamics to every corner. Consequently, a ceramic tile floor was designed using brown tones to draw straight lines inviting entrance.For the pool, which acts as the focal point, and the columns defining this area, brighter, fresher greens were used. The columns were designed to fit inside a larger, surrounding ceramic piece. Rounded stones follow the pool steps down, generating sensations of relaxation and comfort, and acting as a counterpoint to the coloring found in the rest of the ceramics. The lighting situated in the perimeter of the false ceiling and below the ledge bordering the pool intensifies the dynamics and creates a sensation of comfort which follows you from the moment you enter.The ceilings are the only place where paint is used, forming a design of flowers in some areas.In areas with false ceilings following curved lines, according to the spatial disposition, perimeter lighting is used. These are the only elements treated with white paint combined with drawings of exotic flowers in some areas of the spa, adding a touch of freshness and nature to the ambiance.

Situado en un edificio barcelonés de mediados del siglo XX, este hotel sorprende a sus huéspedes con un alojamiento exclusivo y lujoso. La artífice del interiorismo, la diseñadora de renombre internacional Patricia Urquiola, refleja con su estilo refinado, detallista y contemporáneo el carácter dinámico de la ciudad con delicados toques orientales.

Located in a mid-twentieth century Barcelona building, this hotel surprises its guests with its exclusive and luxurious accommodation. Through her refined, detailed and contemporary style, internationally renowned interior designer Patricia Urquiola reflects the city’s dynamic character with delicate oriental touches.

1 y 2.- La entrada del hotel, que en 1955 fue erigido como sede del Banco Hispano Americano, parte de un impresionante atrio por medio de una rampa que acompaña al huésped hasta la zona de recepción, donde dos grandes celosías de aluminio color bronce abren la bienvenida al establecimiento. La luz se filtra convirtiéndose en protagonista del espacio a través de aberturas rectangulares y del gran lucernario.

The hotel entrance, which in 1955 was built as the Banco Hispano Americano headquarters, starts with an impressive atrium bridged by a ramp that accompanies the guest to the reception area. Once there, two large bronze aluminum lattice windows welcome them into the establishment. Light seeps through rectangular openings and the great skylight making it a central feature of the room.

3, 4 y 5.- En la imagen grande, el restaurante ‘Blanc’. Presidido por un gran lucernario que llena de luz el espacio, se sitúa en la planta inflerior, en pleno corazón del edificio, en el lugar que ocupaba el patio de operaciones del banco. En esta zona se encuentra el elemento más espectacular del edificio: una gigantesca malla metalizada de forma cuadrangular que queda suspendida sobre el restaurante proporcionando un entramado de diferentes capas superpuestas que crean un efecto tridimensional. Arriba, el otro restaurante, ‘Moments’. En este espacio brillan los tonos oro y ámbar. El techo se ha decorado con tres cúpulas cuyo dibujo reproduce el de la alfombra que queda exactamente debajo, una vez más el gusto de Patricia Urquiola se pone de manifiesto en detalles y riqueza ornamental.Abajo, el Banker´s Bar, en él la diseñadora utilizó las antiguas cajas fuertes del banco para decorar el techo, creando un efecto artísitco que se ve realzado por una iluminación sugerente, el mobiliario de cuero y una alfombra con estampado tartán.

The large picture features the ‘Blanc’ restaurant. Presided over by a vast skylight that fills the space with light, this restaurant is situated on the bottom floor, in the very heart of the building, at the place that was once the bank’s trading floor. You can find here the building’s most spectacular element: a vast quadrangular metallic mesh suspended above the restaurant. This produces a framework of different superimposed layers, creating a three-dimensional effect. The other restaurant, ‘Moments’ is located upstairs. Gold and amber tones shine throughout this space. The ceiling is decorated with three cupolas whose design is a replica of that of the carpet which lies exactly beneath. Once more Patricia Urquiola’s taste is revealed in details and ornamental richness. Downstairs is the Banker’s Bar, for which the designer used the bank’s old safes to decorate the ceiling, creating an artistic effect which is enhanced by evocative lighting, leather furniture and a tartan print carpet.

6, 7 y 8.- Spa. Con una superficie de 1000 metros cuadrados el Spa de Mandarin Oriental presenta una gran variedad de terapias holísticas para el bienestar y belleza de sus clientes. Su decoración es fiel a la estética minimal y vanguardista del resto del hotel, con suelos blancos y de madera, techos negros, detalles y cuidadas superficies que evocan la imagen de la piedra mojada. Cortinas metálicas permiten acceder a las cabinas, cuyos apliques de época contrastan con la sobriedad del recinto. Este diseño tranquilo se mantiene en la zona de la piscina, donde un gran filtro verde de color malaquita proporciona privacidad al área del hammam.

Spa. With an area of 1000 square meters the Mandarin Oriental Spa presents a huge variety of holistic therapies for the beauty and wellbeing of its clients. Its decor is faithful to the minimal and vanguard aesthetics found throughout the hotel, with white wooden floors, black ceilings, surface details and touches that evoke the image of rain soaked stone. Metallic curtains grant access to the booths, whose period wall lamps contrast with the enclosure’s sobriety. This tranquil design is maintained in the swimming area, where an extensive malachite-green screen lends privacy to the hammam area

Shades of white prevail in the hotel’s 98 rooms, where vanguard furniture coexists alongside Asian influenced details. Natural fabrics, light, oak flooring and rugs lend a naturalness and warmth, while the combination of light colors and smooth lines accentuates the sense of spaciousness. In the large picture the Terrace Suite has its own terrace and dining area. The bathrooms are conceived as boxes of colored crystal with enormous showers and bathtubs.

La libertad a la hora de diseñar para el equipo de GdeV plasmó como resultado este establecimiento multifuncional, situado en una zona norte de Madrid. Un espacio con zonas definidas pero entrelazadas con equilibrio y armonía. Su estética moderna y cálida escapa de minimalismos donde el requisito principal se concentró en la durabilidad de los materiales y su impecable ejecución.

1 y 2.- Arriba. La fachada queda revestida con machones de piedra Delhi, donde resaltan los vidrios tintados en color verdoso. Su rótulo retroiluminado está compuesto por cubos de metacrilato con el logo en vinilo dorado. Abajo. La zona lounge se dispone lateralmente adosada al muro de ventanales. Esta zona destinada para fumadores se ubica en un nivel más bajo que el resto del restaurante en tonos dorados y naranjas. En la imagen grande. En esta zona general se puede apreciar la armonía creada en el espacio gracias a tonalidades neutras, y un suave y envolvente movimiento en los techos con iluminación indirecta en candilejas en las que se instalan suaves cortinas transparentes que privatizan la situación de las mesas.

Above. The facade is covered with splashes of Delhi stone, where the glasses stained in greenish color stand out. Its back-lit sign is composed of cubes made of methacrylate with the logo in golden vinyl. Below. The lounge area is arranged sideways next to the wall of large windows. This area–destined for smokers–is located in a level lower than the remainder of the restaurant, in orange and golden tones. In the large image. In this general-purpose area, the harmony created in the space can be appreciated, thanks to neuter tones, and a smooth and embracing movement in the ceilings, with indirect lighting in footlights in which smooth transparent curtains are installed that give privacy to the tables.

The freedom for the team of GdeV at the moment of the design resulted in this multi-functional establishment, located in a northern part of Madrid. A space with defined areas but intertwined with equilibrium and harmony. Its modern and warm aesthetics escapes from minimalisms, where the main requirement concentrated on the durability of the materials and its impeccable execution.

4 y 5.- La zona que aparece en las imágenes es el área de no fumadores. En ella priman los colores verdes combinados con los tonos neutros que predominan en todo el restaurante. El suelo del restaurante es una tarima flotante que ha sido combinada con cuatro colores de manera aleatoria. Los paramentos verticales se visten con papeles vinílicos de distintos acabados, entre ellos de avestruz, originando un vistoso juego de texturas. También es importante el estudio lumínico donde se han mezclado cajones de DM lacados en plata con halógenos embutidos, lámparas de fibra natural trenzada e iluminación indirecta en candilejas.

The images portray the non-smoking area, in which the green colors predominate combined with the neuter tones that dominate in the entire restaurant. The floor of the restaurant is a floating platform that has been combined with four colors in a random way. The vertical hangings are dressed with vinyl papers of different finishes–including ostrich–originating a bright play of textures. The lighting factor is also important, displaying an array of DM silver-lacquered boxes with halogens pot lights, lamps of braided natural fiber, and indirect lighting in footlights.

La búsqueda de un restaurante que cambia, diferente, que transforma emociones con un ambiente que se desea recrear, con rincones apropiables y espacios que hablan del lugar donde están y del clima en el que se ven envueltos, son argumentos en los que se basa la creación de este restaurante ubicado en un merca'o de Pamplona.

The search for a restaurant that is different, that changes, that transforms emotions with an ambiance you wish to capture, that has takeable corners and areas that speak of this place and the atmosphere that surrounds them are the arguments on which the creation of this restaurant located in a marketplace in Pamplona are based.

1, 2 y 3.- La fachada del restaurante muestra una piel brillante de botellas de vidrio que conectan el exterior con el interior y filtran la luz y las vistas.En las otras imágenes la zona del restaurante ubicada en semi-sótano que forma un espacio profundo y austero, vinculando su atmósfera con el concepto de bodega, de lugar bajo tierra, exponiendo la cimentación del propio edificio y ofreciendo un receptáculo reposado, sereno y más tranquilo con respecto al resto del restaurante. Esta parte se envuelve con el empleo masivo de tableros de iroko alistonado y luminarias tipo plafón, que parecen flotar bajo la oscuridad del techo organizando una secuencia visual muy llamativa.

The restaurant's facade has a brilliant covering of glass bottles that connects the exterior with the interior and filters both the light and the street view.Other images show the area of the restaurant, located in a semi-basement that creates a profound and austere area, with the ambiance of a wine cellar or an underground cavern, displaying the foundation's rough cement and offering a more restful, serene, and calm area than that found in the rest of the restaurant. This area is enveloped by the massive use of teakwood-veneered panels and ceiling lamps which seem to float under the darkness of the ceiling itself, creating a very striking visual sequence.

4 y 5.- La planta calle se conecta con el mercado, y ofrece un uso cotidiano, abierto y flexible que se vincula a los recorridos de la calle y del propio mercado, organizando las circulaciones y los accesos a través de bar. El techo acanalado, como una gran superficie ranurada, oscuro, acentúa y acompaña los espacios mediante gestos ondulantes que organizan una réplica geométrica de lo que va sucediendo en el suelo: barra de bar, mesa alta, banco...

6, 7 y 8.- Los espacios del restaurante se definen mediante cortinajes. Los que van en la dirección paralela a la luz se confeccionan de terciopelo, para proporcionar un buen comportamiento acústico y un tacto y textura agradables, y los que van en sentido ortogonal, dejan pasar la luz y se comportan como grandes velos, insinuando visuales. Un simple movimiento de los cortinajes origina distintos cambios de escenas en la visual general y zonas reservadas. Una escenografía casi teatral diluye el entorno de la actuación, prescindiendo de tabiquerías y de conceptos de cajas cerradas, para generar una ambigüedad buscada entre una sucesión de espacios velados. Algunos objetos de mobiliario se depositan sobre 'alfombras' de madera para unificar el color y la textura.

The restaurant areas are defined through the use of draperies. Those that run parallel to the light are made of velvet to create a sound acoustic atmosphere and to provide a pleasing texture and feel, and those that run perpendicular allow light to enter and function as veils, insinuating the interior. A simple movement of the drapes creates both distinct visual changes in the general scene and reserved seating areas. An almost theatrical design dilutes the setting of the performance, avoiding partitions and the concept of closed boxes to generate an attractive ambiguity in the succession of veiled areas.Some furnishings are placed over wooden "rugs" to unify color and textur

Del mismo modo que existe una variedad de espacios, la mesas refuerzan los diferentes modos de estar: bajas, altas, grandes y pequeñas, cuadradas y alargadas... y lo mismo sucede con los asientos a modo de sillas, bancos corridos, bancos altos o bajos, individuales y compartidos para conformar los diferentes modos de comer. Los aseos públicos mantienen el mismo estilo decorativo que el resto del local con un equilibro de formas, luces y color para mantener una armonía estética en el proyecto global.

The connection to the exterior, to both the street and the marketplace, is created through the use of glass "fish tanks" filled with green glass bottles to filter the light and the view from the interior towards the street and vice-versa.Just as there are a variety of different areas within the restaurant, the tables are used to reinforce these different atmospheres: short, tall, large, and small, square and elongated... The same occurs with seating in the form of chairs, long benches, tall or short benches, individual and shared, all designed to shape different eating styles.The public restrooms continue the decor found in the rest of the restaurant, using an equilibrium of forms, light, and color to maintain an aesthetic harmony in this global project.

DISEÑO INTERNACIONAL/INTERNATIONAL DESIGN

1 y 2.- A la izquierda. El green-wall un jardín vertical que acompaña a los visitantes desde el exterior. Éste conduce a la escalera para introducir a los clientes en un itinerario que despertará los cinco sentidos gracias a la armonía de los volúmenes y a la difusión de sonidos y perfumes. En la imagen grande. El "cubo" cocina, corazón tecnológico y alma de acero del equipamiento profesional, revestido en mármol calacatta. El núcleo queda rodeado por una larga barra de madera de roble. Para esta realización se han elegido componentes de máxima calidad utilizando una miscelánea de ingredientes únicos para crear un contenedor perfecto para la vista y el gusto, dentro de un marco de arquitectura rigurosa y lineal.

To the left. The green-wall, a vertical garden that accompanies the visitors from the outside. It leads to the stairs and introduces the clients to an itinerary that will awaken the fi ve senses thanks to the harmony of the dimensions and the diffusion of sounds and scents. In the large image. The kitchen "cube," the technological heart and steel soul of the professional equipment, covered in calacatta marble. The center is surrounded by a long oakwood bar. For this project, components of maximum quality were chosen, using a miscellany of unique ingredients to create a perfect space for the senses of sight and taste, within a framework of linear and rigorous architecture.

Da Gusto nace como un lugar para el desarrollo y la presentación del producto con una estética fuerte donde poder experimentar con los nuevos productos y recetas de la marca.

Surgital, an Italian producer of fresh pasta, has inaugurated its new tasting room in its Italian headquarters in Lavezzola. De Gusto was designed as a space for the development and presentation of the company’s product, with strong aesthetics, where new products and recipes of the brand could be tried out.

Group, Luigi Benvenuti. | INTENCIONALIDAD Y FILOSOFÍA DE LA OBRA. Crear un espacio para el desarrollo del producto de la marca y su presentación

en un marco rico de atmósfera y tecnología, con una imagen fuerte donde los clientes asistan a la creación y degustación de recetas experimentales. |

PRINCIPALES PAUTAS ESTÉTICAS. Originar un contenedor de arquitectura rigurosa y lineal. Simplificar las formas para emitir un lenguaje claro y directo en

el espacio. Empleo de materiales naturales, con texturas, tacto y colores neutros para crear una atmósfera limpia y acogedora.

4 y 5.- La simplificación de las formas permite reconocer de una manera clara y directa las funciones creadas en el espacio. Son 150 metros cuadrados de open-space, donde se conforma una verdadera aula magna con bancos dispuestos en graderías, en una zona abierta hacia la cocina, desde donde poder disfrutar del rito de la elaboración de los platos como si fuese el escenario de un teatro. La barra de madera que rodea al "cubo" cocina mide más de 15 metros donde se disponen treinta taburetes de diseño escandinavo para optar por los puestos en primera fila, y participar en la preparación de los alimentos de una manera muy interactiva. Los suelos de hormigón gris, la textura porosa de los muebles de roble y las vetas del mármol generan una atmósfera limpia y depurada a la vez que acogedora.

The simplification of the forms allows us to recognize, in a clear and direct way, the functions created within the space. It is an open space of 150 square meters, featuring a true main hall with rows of seats arranged in terraces, in an area open to the kitchen, from where it is possible to enjoy the ceremony of the preparation of the dishes as if it were the setting of a theater. The wood bar that surrounds the kitchen "cube" is more than 15 meters long, arranged with thirty stools of Scandinavian design chosen for first-row seating, and from where to participate in the preparation of the dishes in a very interactive way. The gray concrete floors, the porous texture of the oak furniture, and the streaks of marble create a clean and pure ambience as well as a welcoming atmosphere.

1, 2 y 3.- La fachada utiliza materiales y tipologías tradicionales de Eixample barcelonés proponiendo una modernidad arquitectónica en piedra. Mediante un elaborado ejercicio plástico se presenta una piel con mármol de Cabra donde se practican una serie de aberturas y ondulaciones que incorporan dinamismo y movimiento, como si fueran ondas o cortinas de piedra. Éstas actúan como mamparas y barreras acústicas.A la derecha la zona de recepción, donde el mobiliario se interrumpe a media altura, para que ningún elemento entorpezca la perspectiva exterior. Las lámparas tipo globo a modo de “O” flotantes y unas “M” luminosas sugieren una lectura irónica del nombre del hotel. La zona se abre en un espacio longitudinal de 5 metros de altura pintado en color rojo como el mostrador y cerrado con una enorme vidriera.Arriba. A la izquierda de la recepción se abre un espacio con sofás y alfombras distribuidas en un mosaico de colores cálidos: gris, violeta, marrón y verde en tonalidades suaves, con el contrapunto de mesas y pufs de cuero negro, cubos luminosos y distintos tipos de lámparas. En un segundo plano, un muro transversal delimita dos espacios recogidos en torno a una chimenea de gas natural.

The facade uses the traditional materials and styles of Barcelona's Eixample district, suggesting a modern architecture in stone. Through an elaborate and expressive exercise the facade presents a surface of Cabra marble where a series of openings and undulations incorporate movement and dynamism, as if they were waves or curtains of stone. These then act as screens and acoustic barriers.Right. The reception area, where the furnishings are cut off at mid-height so that nothing hinders the exterior perspective. Floating, globe-shaped lamps and luminous lettering taking the form of O's and M's, respectively, suggest an ironic reading of the hotel's name. This area opens into a long room 5 meters tall painted red like the counter and closes facing an enormous window.Below. To the left of the reception area, a space opens up with sofas and rugs distributed in a mosaic of warm colors: grays, violets, browns, and greens in soft tones, with a counterpoint of black tables and leather hassocks, luminous cubes, and varying types of lamps. On the second floor, a transverse mural delimits two areas gathered around a natural gas chimney.

Reflejar la voluntad de la propiedad de ofrecer un lujo auténtico y actual en un entorno cosmopolita mediante los detalles y un diseño innovador. Crear un

nuevo concepto de hotel-restaurante en un lugar espacioso y cálido. Configurar una estructura y diseño vivir la ciudad e integrase con los barceloneses.

| PRINCIPALES PAUTAS DECORATIVAS. Proponer una modernidad arquitectónica y hacer complatible funcionalidad y creatividad, bienestar y belleza.

Unifinicar con el interiorismo las necesidades para multiplicar las funciones de cada espacio. En las habitaciones sacar el máximo partido del espacio

disponible con lugares amplios y bien iluminados. Mobiliario confortable, discreto y elegante. Multiplicar los detalles estéticos para conferir un carácter

personal al hotel.

4, 5 y 6.- En la imagen grande el restaurante Moo. Un espacio abierto, desenfadado y funcional, que recibe la luz natural a través de un patio inglés con unos perfiles de acero inoxidable que recogen la luz que llega desde el exterior y la proyectan sobre muros y mesas. El patio aparecee capturado por una vitrina en suspenso por donde asoma un bosque de cañas de bambú. En las paredes se ha dejado visto el encofrado para contrastar con la delicadeza de los interiores. El subterráneo del hotel aberga una sala multiusos, insonorizada para celebrar todo tipo de eventos. Ommsession, el club de noche con copas cuenta con un escenario, pantallas y una tecnología lumínica espectacular.En la cubierta del edificio se encuentra la terraza abocada a la ciudad, cubierta de madera de ipe, con una pérgola que recoge u ordena los diferentes volúmenes. En ella se encuentra una piscina alargada y asientos de Philippe Starck.

In the larger image, the Moo restaurant. An open area, uninhibited and functional, that receives natural light from an English patio with stainless steel outlines that gather the outside light and project it over murals and tables. The patio seems captured by a wall-to-wall glass case where a forest of bamboo canes grows. The basic form of the walls has been left visible for contrast with the delicacy of the interior.The underground floor of the hotel houses a multi-use room, soundproofed for the celebration of any event. Ommsession, the night club with drink service, has a stage, screens, and spectacular lighting technology.On the roof of the building, there is a terrace open to the city, covered in ipe wood and a pergola that gathers and orders the various volumes. Under the pergola, you will find an elongated pool and Philippe Starck chairs.

7 y 8.- En las habitaciones el trabajo conjunto de Sandra Tarruella e Isabel López alcanza su máxima sintonía. En las suites se configuran espacios amplios, ricos en texturas, que están distribuidos de tal manera que todas ellas son diferentes. En las imágenes, una de las suites con piezas de mobiliario especiales como la cama con dosel, que acentúa su confort y exclusividad. La relación espacial del baño se realiza evitando espacios cerrados con piezas de diseño de alto nivel como las bañeras exentas, que forman parte del carácter exclusivo del establecimiento.

In the rooms, the joint work of Sandra Tarruella and Isabel López achieves its best form. In the suites, large spaces are formed, rich in texture, distributed in such a way that all are different. In the photos: One of the suites with special furnishings such as the canopy bed, accenting its comfort and exclusivity. The spatial relation of the bath is accomplished by avoiding closed spaces with specially designed, high-level pieces, such as the free-standing tubs, which form part of the exclusive character of the establishment.

9, 10, 11 y 12.- Izquierda. La habitación Omm King. Un espacio rectangular bañado por la luz natural. Un armario separa la habitación del cuarto de baño sin llegar al techo, creando una continuidad entre las dos zonas. Una línea de luz indirecta oculta en la parte inferior de la pared de aluminio lacado subraya este elemento donde se encastra la televisión. Cada habitación cuenta con un entorno domotizado para proporcionar el máximo confort lumínico y ambiental.Derecha. Spaciomm, con una superficie de 400 metros cuadrados, tiene acceso desde el hotel y entrada individual. Su arquitectura interior es de unas dimensiones acordes con el espíritu intimista de los tratamientos y servicios del centro. Las diseñadoras han creado un espacio de líneas puras y clima oriental en el que materiales naturales como madera, piedra, hierro, coco, hilo y seda, combinan con los suaves matices de iluminación, música y aromas creando un entorno de paz y tranquilidad.

Left. Omm King Room. A rectangular space bathed in natural light. A wardrobe separates the main room from the bath, without joining the ceiling, creating continuity between the two areas. A line of indirect lighting hidden in the lower part of the lacquered aluminum wall emphasizes this element, in which the television is recessed. Each room has an automated system for maximum ambient comfort.Right. Spaciomm, with an area of 400 square meters, has access both from the hotel and from the outside. The dimensions of its interior architecture are in accord with the intimate feel of the treatments and services of the spa. The designers have created an area of pure lines and an oriental ambiance in which natural materials such as wood, stone, iron, coconut, linen, and silk combine with the suave harmonies of lighting, music, and aromas, creating an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
