Be sure to read separate Safety and Maintenance Instructions before using.

Removing Electrical Cord from Cord HookRotate the cord hook plate 180° to remove cord from machine.

Removing Liberator from Caddy1. Plug Liberator power cord into outlet. Do not use

an extension cord.

2. Lock handle in position by pointing red arrowheaddown. Note that there are 2 handle locks, one on each side of machine.

Locate the switch control panelon the back of the Liberator. Turnon machine brushes by pressingthe blue switch and drive theLiberator off the caddy.

How to Clean Carpet with the Liberator

Lawnmower VacuumingNormal Vacuuming Style

Before Applying HOST Dry Carpet CleanerPlace bucket on its side for 10 minutes. This will help to distribute the liquid ingredients evenly throughout the cleaner.

Replacing Lid on BucketBe sure to wipe off the edge of bucket before replacing the lid.This will prevent leaking.

Vacuum the area using the machineas you would any vacuum.

How to Clean Carpet with the Liberator

Applying with the Applicator

Open hole covers for HOST application.

Choose:• Light (1 cover open)• Medium (2 covers open)• Heavy (3 covers open)

Walk the Applicator over the area of dirty carpet. DO NOT apply to an area larger than10 feet x 50 feet (approx. 50 sq. meters).

Keep Applicator 1 foot away from wall.

Applying by HandApply a handful of HOST to each square yard (or square meter) of dirty carpet.

Do not apply to an area larger than 10 feet by 10 feet(about 10 sq. meters) to keep HOST from drying out.

Begin brushing as soon as you have finished applying.

Brushing with MachineMake sure the white vacuum switch is OFF.

Use push-pull strokes just like when you vacuum.

It is not necessary to apply HOSTnext to the wall or to areas which donot appear dirty. Apply only to dirtyparts of the carpet.

VacuumingVacuum the area you have just finished brushing.

Use the normal vacuuming style for best results.

The Liberator vacuums best if HOST is a bit damp.

If Carpet is Still DirtyIf carpet is still dirty, reapply HOST and brush again.

Normal Vacuuming Style

For Very Dirty CarpetIf carpet is very dirty, PREP® Traffic Lane Booster may be necessary.

To use PREP:

Mix 1 part PREP in 4 parts water in a trigger spray bottle.

Mist PREP lightly on dirty carpet.

Apply HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner as before.

Brush with the Liberator.

Vacuum.

Pre-Clean is ready-to-use PREP.

Emptying the Bagless HopperEmpty the bagless hopper often to avoid clogging filters.

Pull out the hopper.

Empty into trash container.

Replace the hopper and insure that it is completely closed to avoid vacuum power loss.

Upkeep & Clean-up of the Liberator

Cleaning the Filters & Vacuum ConeTurn Liberator off. Unlatch filterhousing and swing to the side.

Vacuum the black and burnt orange filters with a tank vacuum. You can also use the included filter brush.

Remove the separator assemblyand wipe the inside with a cloth.

Note: If you are cleaningwhere IAQ is a concern(i.e. healthcare facility),clean filters elsewhere.

Vacuum the 3-piece filters with a tank vacuum andreplace. Refer to Safety & Maintenance Instructionsfor cleaning HEPA filters

Replace the separator assembly and push down firmly for a tightseal. Then replace the orange filter,then the black filter. Close the filterhousing and close the latches.

Remove the Velcro® skirt and screwsfrom side and back cover plates.

Remove foam motor filter and vacuumor rinse the filter. Allow filter to drycompletely before replacing.

Checking the Hose for ClogsUse the filter cleaning brush to help remove clogs of HOST and dirt fromboth ends of the vacuum hose.

4Cleaning & Rotating BrushesClean and rotate brushes each time you clean out the Liberator. The brush bristlesacquire a “set” in the direction they revolve unless switched regularly.

Unplug machine from power.

Remove the Velcro skirt.

Turn lock on brush cover plate 1/4 turn counter-clockwise until it pops out. Put your finger through ring and lift up to remove brush plate.

Remove brushes and clean out underside of machine.

Replace brushes on opposite hex brush shafts.Liberator brushes can be switched end-to-end ifdesired.

Replace brush side plate. Press brush guardagainst brushes while replacing side plate.

If brush plate does not engage, rotate hex shaftslightly until brush side plate slips in place.

Lock the lock on side plate and replace Velcro skirt.

Remove the vacuum pod.

Remove the operating handle.

Use the base to clean stairs.

Upkeep & Clean-up of the Freestyle

3Cleaning & Rotating BrushesClean and rotate brushes each time you clean out the Freestyle. The brush bristlesacquire a “set” in the direction they revolve unless switched regularly.

Unplug machine from power.

Remove the Velcro skirt.

Press spring lock to release brushguard/end cover.

Pull back on clip; lift out brushes.

Switch brushes to opposite driveshafts. Brushes fit down overshaft and engage on 3 pins nearbottom of shaft. Be sure brushclip snaps into position.

Insert hinged bar of brush guard/end cover intolower slot. Push all the way up, depress lockbutton and slip brush guard into place.

Freestyle brushes can be switched end-to-endif desired. Remove screw holding brush clip inplace, reassemble at other end of brush andreplace.

If Carpet is Still DirtyIf carpet is still dirty, reapply HOST and brush again.

For Very Dirty CarpetIf carpet is very dirty, PREP® Traffic Lane Booster may be necessary.

To use PREP:

Mix 1 part PREP in 4 parts water in a trigger spray bottle.

Mist PREP lightly on dirty carpet.

Apply HOST Dry Carpet Cleaneras before.

Brush with the Reliant.

1. Apply HOST Dry Carpet Cleaner.

Upkeep & Clean-up of the Reliant

2Cleaning & Rotating BrushesClean and rotate the brushes each time you clean the Reliant. The brush bristles acquirea “set” in the direction they revolve unless switched regularly.

Unplug machine from power.

Press spring lock to release brushguard/end cover.

Pull back on clip; lift out brushes.

Switch brushes to opposite driveshafts. Brushes fit down overshaft and engage on 3 pins nearbottom of shaft. Be sure brush clipsnaps into position.

Insert hinged bar of brush guard/end cover into lower slot. Push all the way up, depresslock button and slip brush guard into place.

Reliant brushes can be switched end-to-endif desired. Remove screw holding brush clip in place, reassemble at other end of brush and replace.
