Installing Oracle Critical Patch Update (CPU) Each version of Hospitality Suite is certified on a specific version of Oracle and Oracle CPU. At times, Oracle requires a newer Opatch utility for installing patches; if your patchset requires one, it will be included on your CD or with your downloaded files.

Note: If you have downloaded a copy of the software from Computrition’s support website, “Patches” will be located within the destination directory that you saved to.

Warning: You MUST have created the Oracle Base PATH per the instructions on page 11. If the Base is not set as \app\oracle\ the patch installation will fail.

1. From the Patches folder on the Oracle Database DVD, or Oracle Database download link from the Computrition Support Website, copy the “Patches.zip” file to your c:\temp directory and extract it.

From the DOS command prompt: >cd <CDROM Drive>\Patches For example: >cd e:\Patches >copy Patches.zip c:\temp >cd c:\temp >unzip –o Patches.zip

2. Install the CPU by executing the following commands:

>cd c:\temp\Patches >Auto_CPU.bat Follow the prompts.

Warning: If you do not know the following values (Oracle drive letter, Oracle SID, Oracle SYSDBA password), please contact Computrition Oracle Support before proceeding with the Patch installation.

Special Note: If the patch should fail for any reason, please apply the Undo patch steps outlined in Appendix G: Undo – Oracle Critical Patch Update (CPU).

Modifying the listener.ora File You must have a static listener entry for the Oracle instance. This uses instance automatic registration. The instance registers with the listener when you mount and PMON is started. Prior to this change, there is nothing to register the database to the listener so the instance is blocked.

Please follow the below instructions to configure the listener.ora file.

1. From Windows Explorer navigate to [drive]:\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\network\admin

2. Open the listener.ora file using a text editor (e.g. notepad)

24

Page 27: Hospitality Suite Installation Guide - Computrition …support.computrition.com/ComputritionSupport/media... · Hospitality Suite Installation Guide Table of Contents Version 18.7

Hospitality Suite Installation Guide Version 18.7

3. Add the following statement to the listener.ora file (Modify the values to specify your instance)

SID_LIST_LISTENER = (SID_LIST = (SID_DESC = (SID_DBNAME = HS) (SID_NAME = HS)

Note: The DBNAME may be something other than HS. Please refer to page 13, step 13 for the correct value. Here is a Sample of the Listener.ora file: SID_LIST_LISTENER = (SID_LIST = (SID_DESC = (SID_NAME = CLRExtProc) (ORACLE_HOME = D:\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1) (PROGRAM = extproc) (ENVS = "EXTPROC_DLLS=ONLY:D:\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\bin\oraclr11.dll") ) ) SID_LIST_LISTENER = (SID_LIST = (SID_DESC = (SID_DBNAME = HS) (SID_NAME = HS) ) ) LISTENER = (DESCRIPTION_LIST = (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1521)) (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = WIN-8CSMD9CSA62.computrition.com)(PORT = 1521)) ) )

ADR_BASE_LISTENER = D:\app\oracle

4. Save and Exit the file.

5. Restart the Listener Service.

25

Modifying the sqlnet.ora File When the service OracleServiceHS fails to start, it prevents users from logging into Hospitality Suite. Even when it displays a Started status, the database may have failed to start. To ensure that the service starts properly, you need to modify the sqlnet.ora file. Please follow the below instructions to configure the sqlnet.ora file.

1. From Windows Explorer navigate to [drive]:\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\network\admin

2. Open the sqlnet.ora file using a text editor (e.g. notepad)

3. Place # in front of SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) as seen below

4. Click File>Exit and click Save when prompted.

Installing Oracle Client

In addition to being installed on workstations or application servers, the Oracle Client is also installed on Windows 64-bit database servers to accommodate the use of Hospitality Suite Administration tasks. If installing on a 32-bit Windows database server, please skip this step and proceed to the section Installing Hospitality Suite.

Note: if installing on a Citrix server, please ensure the server is in “install” mode.

1. Insert the Hospitality Suite DVD into the appropriate drive.

2. The Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) must be installed prior to installing Oracle Client.
