Go!This summer the lesson series we used for our 5-Day Clubwasthe Wordless Book Visualized, a five-lesson flashcard series whichcommunicated God's redeeming love. Each day focused on onecolor of the Wordless Book. On the second day, we talked aboutAdam and Eve and how sinned entered the world. Everythingthat was perfect was tarnished by sin. Though it broke His heart,He had a plan to make everything perfect again. This story was areminder to me that missions began with the heart of God. It first

beat in His heart before it began to beat in you and me. Our Godis a mission minded God. If this were not so, there would be noreason to take the news of his glory to the lost, news of his wondersto one and all! Psalm 96:3 (MSG) Therefore we are to Go!This wasthe theme of our International Conference this year and it hasbeen a reminder to me about the urgency of the Gospel. No one isexempt from the responsibility to evangelize the lost. We eithergoor send but we cannot remain uninvolved. We can pray, give orgo so that the Gospel can be taken to all the world so thateveryone can have the opportunity to hear and believe (Mark16:15). Everyone includes not only adults but our children as wellOur family chose to go and while Hawaii is most often not seen asa mission field, there are many adults and children who need tohear the good news of His salvation. The Gospel cannot save untilit has first been believed, it cannot be believed until it has beenheard and it cannot be heard until it is first preached! (Romans10:14) So wherever you are, I encourage you to go and share thenews of His glory. Sharing the good news does not necessarilyrequire you to leave your state, city or even require a passport! You just need to be obedient to the Lord, share His Wordwherever He would have you to do so.

In our previous newsletter, I gave a brief update onministry happening on the other islands. I alsomentioned that I had plans of returning to theseislands in hopes of doing follow up and pioneernew ministry opportunities. In April, I did return tothese islands and did just that. Our family spent aweek working with 2 churches on Maui and 1 onMolokai. I also was able to speak with 13 pastors

about CEF ministry while there. I assisted onechurch on Maui with an outreach since they had noone to do their childrens program. The Lordallowed 150 children and their parents to hear a clearpresentation of the Gospel and three prayed toreceive Him as their Saviour! Each child whoattended was given Gospel Tracts and a TruthChaserslesson so they could receive Bible lessoncorrespondence by mail. I also had the opportunityto teach a Good News Clubfor the first time on Mauiand four children prayed to receive Christ! What ablessing it was to be part of what God did that week.

After doing ministry on Maui, we took a trip toMolokai to speak at the Molokai churchconvention. We had a great time fellowshippingwith the people there and as the guest speaker forthis event, once again the Lord allowed me theopportunity to share on the ministry and theimportance of sharing the good news of Gods

    great love.

In May, our family was blessed with financial giftsfor us to attend the Child Evangelism FellowshipInternational Conference. We did not plan to attendsince it was too costly and we had not received anyresponses from our request for support for thisconference. However, in mid April, responses fromsupporters came, along with several checksdesignated for us to attend the conference. It was agreat surprise and blessing. It was truly one of thebest conferences we have attended. It was awonderful time of refreshment, encouragement and

inspiration. There were over 1100 missionaries whoattended representing 85 countries. The speakers, workshops and times of fellowship, were somethingKristin and I really needed. The theme of theconference was Go! It was a tremendousencouragement and very uplifting to hear of whatGod is doing around the world. We left with a deeperurgency to Goand take the news of his glory to the lost, news of his wonders to one and all!

Upon returning to Oahu, there was only one week left beforethe start of our Christian Youth in Action(CYIA) summerprogram. This year we had twenty-three CYIA students fromacross the state, 20 from Oahu, 2 from Molokai and 1 fromKauai who were trained for 2 weeks and sent out asmissionaries throughout the summer teaching 5-Day Clubs, conducting Camp Good NewsDay Camps and Camp GoodNewsovernight camps for children. We had a total of 5 weeksof 5-Day Clubs and 2 weeks of Camp Good News overnight

camping. It was a busy, sometimes exhausting, but atremendous blessing as over 600 children were able to hear theGospel, 25 received Christ, 8 were counseled and were givenassurance of their faith and 5 expressed a desire to one day be amissionary! We are still gathering all the numbers as I writethis, but clearly the Lord has allowed His Word to be sharedwith many children.

Two days after returning from the International Conference, Itook a trip to Maui to do a Good News Clubtraining for aPhilippino Baptist Church. As with all the churches I have beeninvolved with, they all have a desire to strengthen theirchildrens ministry program and get involved in reaching thechildren in their community. We had 20 children workers from3 churches that attended this event. I am in the process of

working with them to start a Good News Clubin a school onMaui this Fall. It was an enjoyable time and it has been excitingto see how the Lord is opening up trainings and givingchurches a burden for the children and people of Hawaii.

We were also able to visit several of oursupporters and give an update at our supportingchurches. Though it was a brief time, we truly

enjoyed connecting with family and friends. Weare truly thankful to all who made this trippossible.

Thank you for praying for our family. Ourwork here could not go on without it. A fewweeks ago, I was preparing devotions for one ofour Day Camps, I was reminded of the story of

Daniels prayer. The Bible tells us that Danielwas praying and that his prayer reachedheaven. God heard Daniel's prayer and sent anangel with a message for Daniel. But the angelwho was sent from heaven was held up fortwenty-one days because he was engaged in aspiritual battle with a powerful demon spirit. As a result, God sent Michael the archangel.Michael overruled the demon power and theanswer eventually was brought to Daniel. But ittook twenty-one days for the answer to getthere. I was reminded that when God doesn'tanswer our prayers as quickly as we would like

Him to, He is not letting us down. There may bea spiritual battle going on behind the scenes that

    Ohana Life

we cannot see, so we need to keep praying. Jesus Himself said tokeep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking, and the door wouldbe opened. So we continue to pray and watch for what the Lordwill do and we trust that you will too.
