5 objetivos 1. Employment.-
– 75% of the 20-64 year-olds to be employed
2. R&D.- – 3% of the EU's GDP to be invested in R&D
3. Climate change and energy sustainability.- – greenhouse gas emissions 20% (or even 30%, if the conditions are right) lower than 1990 – 20% of energy from renewables – 20% increase in energy efficiency
4. Education – Reducing the rates of early school leaving below 10% – at least 40% of 30-34–year-olds completing third level education
5. Fighting poverty and social exclusion – at least 20 million fewer people in or at risk of poverty and social exclusion

VISCA, Vineyards´ Integrated Smart Climate Application
Topic: SC5-01-2016 - Exploiting the added value of climate services
Type of Action: Innovation Action Total cost: EUR 3.2 million
Coordination: Spain (Meteosim SL) EU contribution: EUR 2.8 million
Wine-grapes are specially threatened by climate change. The wine industry needs therefore to tackle adaptation measures, and long term adaptation planning .
VISCA is a Climate Service (CS) and Decision Support System (DSS) that integrates climate, agricultural and end-users´ specifications in order to design medium- and long-term adaptation strategies to climate change. VISCA will be validated by real demonstration with end-users on three demo sites belonging to three wine stakeholders from Spain, Italy and Portugal, which are included as partners in the consortium (Codorniu, Mastroberardino and Symington).

Main objective is to make the European energy sector more resilient to climate variability and high impact events.
This objective will be achieved through the investigation of the frontiers and the potential of S2S predictions, which will be turned into a novel decision support tool (DST), based on S2S climate predictions and tailored to users’ needs - mainly energy companies - following a user-centred approach.

Topic: SC5-06-2016-2017 - Pathways towards the decarbonisation and resilience of the European economy in the timeframe 2030-2050 and beyond
Type of Action: Research and Innovation Action Total cost: EUR 4.5 million
Coordination: Spain (Univ. Las Palmas de GC) EU contribution: EUR 4.5 million

SC5 – WP 2018 – 2020
• Contributes to the Focus Area "Building a low-carbon climate-resilient future“
• Produce solutions for the achievement of the PA's goals:
– Mitigation and adaptation
– Help to the implementation of the NDCs, Nationally Determined Contributions
– Key PA-related milestones, such as, the publication of national mid-century strategies (2020), the 6th IPCC assessment cycle (2018-2022) and the first global stocktake in 2023.
• Actions also support relevant EU policies and objectives: – Energy Union, – Arctic policy, – EU Adaptation Strategy – EU climate diplomacy efforts
• Implementation of SDGs, particularly :
Call-Building a low-carbon, climate resilient future: climate action in support of PA
Paris Agreement – Global Goals
Well below 2°C + Efforts to limit increase to 1.5°C
Pathways to low-emission, climate resilient future
• Global peaking as soon as possible • Rapid reductions • Balance between emissions and sinks after 2050 - based on science • Parties to formulate long-term (2050) low emissions strategies by 2020
Global peaking, climate neutrality means international transport is included (among others).
