What can you find on the Participant's portal?
• Support – H2020 Helpdesk• NCP database• Glossary• FAQ database• IT helpdesk
• Support – Registration of organisations – PIC, management of multiple PICs
• Draft and submit proposals• From call page• Step by step wizard• Can save and resume work• Different access rights
After login with ECAS
ECAS European Commission Authentication Service Verification: Your own personal identity - To access the electronic proposal submission system you must have an ECAS account with the Commission
PIC Participant Identification Code: The unique identity of your organisation - Your organisation cannot prepare and submit a proposal nor can it participate as a partner without a PIC

Only the very best ones go through:
A winning proposal must be pertinent, ambitious, realistic, concise, etc.
• Tools: Participant's portal – the gateway
• Lessons learned – how to submit a successful proposal
• Need partners? Links to platforms, project information
• Strong competition: be ambitious
• Start: start early – a proposal needs time and evolution
• Project objective & Target group: well-defined? sufficiently focussed? EU added value?
• Consortium: fit for purpose? All have a clear & justified role? Balance is right for truly sharing a project? They are THE voice of the market to make a difference?
• Communication tools and channels: sufficient resources and professional skills? Tailor made for this project?
EvaluationSubmission
Points you cannot escape!
• Proposals can ONLY be submitted through on-line application system (PP)
• Proposals must be on time
• Proposal must be complete
• Proposers must prove their financial & technical capacity
Submission Evaluation
Eligibility and admissibility criteria
• Fair and equal treatment of all proposers Based on the criteria announced in the Call Confidential process, no conflicts of interest Independent external experts as advisers
• Very competitive process• proposals are addressing topics described in a bi-annual
work programme,• submitted in response of annual calls for proposals
• Basic steps of the evaluation process Eligibility and admissibility Award criteria
EvaluationSubmission
• There are three award criteria:
1. Excellence
2. Impact
3. Quality and efficiency of the implementation
• For each of the three criteria, "aspects" to take into account
• The aspects are adapted to each type of actions (RIA / IA/ CSA)
EvaluationSubmission
• Clarity and pertinence of the objectives • Soundness of the concept • Quality of the proposed coordination and/or support measures
• Credibility of the proposed approach
Excellen
ce
• The expected impacts listed in the work programme under the relevant topic
• Effectiveness of the proposed measures to exploit and disseminate the project results (including management of IPR), to communicate the project, and to manage research data where relevant
Imp
act
• Coherence and effectiveness of the work plan, including appropriateness of the allocation of tasks and resources
• Complementarity of the participants within the consortium (when relevant)
• Appropriateness of the management structures and procedures, including risk and innovation managementIm

Coordination and Support Actions
TRL 1 – basic principles observed TRL 2 – technology concept formulated TRL 3 – experimental proof of concept TRL 4 – technology validated in lab TRL 5 – technology validated in relevant environment (industrially relevant environment in the case of key enabling technologies) TRL 6 – technology demonstrated in relevant environment (industrially relevant environment in the case of key enabling technologies) TRL 7 – system prototype demonstration in operational environment TRL 8 – system complete and qualified TRL 9 – actual system proven in operational environment (competitive manufacturing in the case of key enabling technologies; or in space)
Technology Readiness Levels (TRL)
Check if there is info on TRL available in your chosen topic description
• 3 criteria with several aspects each• 0-5 points per criterion• threshold 3*
• Threshold for recommended proposals: score ≥10*
• No secret – award criteriapublished in Call for proposals
EvaluationSubmission
* PPP call topics EE2 and EE18 different scoring applies. See work programme
Lessons learnt from previous call:• Ambition level• Focus ("one or more areas" does not mean "all")
Do not read the scope as a checklist • Impact – no reverse thinking ! • Clarity: lack of details in WP and task descriptions• State of the art: exploit existing projects/ work• Budget: indicative budget ≠ requested budget
