Minimum Graduation Requirements

Distribution of Credits
Finish graduation requirements before 2nd term senior year
Strongly recommend no more than 3 AP or Honors courses during any given term
Once enrolled at Hopkins, students may not use outside credit in Art, English or Science towards fulfilling the departmental graduation requirements
Academic Term Load
Each Term– Minimum number – at least 4 courses (excluding Health
and non-AP Art courses)
– Maximum number – no more than 5 courses (excluding Health and non-AP Art courses)
Exemptions require special permission.
Pass/D/Fail Option
For Grade 12 students only
May take one year or term course pass/D/fail
Graduation requirements excluded
Student cannot rescind his/her decision
Cut-off Date: Friday of the sixth week of the term
Honors Courses
Offered in Language and Mathematics
Honors designation appears as part of title on transcript
Students receive no “bump up” in grade
If enrollment is less than 4, courses will run and meet twice weekly
Independent Study
• Advanced study beyond scope of curriculum
Eligibility restricted to Grade 11 and Grade 12 students
Requires willingness of faculty member to serve as project adviser
Not designed to accommodate those with scheduling conflicts

Senior Projects
Projects run from Spring vacation through end of May
Graduation requirements cannot be dropped for senior project
School will not make schedule changes to accommodate the senior’s project
