Acting Principal’s Report

Welcome back to Term 3. We have had a really positive start and teachers and student are fo-cused on Teaching and Learning. We are looking forward to an interesting and exciting term. Some of the activities taking place include:

Fed Uni sessions Events organised by SRC: School Social, Jeans for Genes Day, RSPCA Cupcake Day Winter Sport Try VET day Open Day Farm Safety Day Kinder Visits Homework Club

These activities along with teaching and learning will support student’s growth as individuals and learners this term.

School Improvements

Over the holidays, the ‘Primary’ corridor along with the Year 12 room had a ‘face lift’. Julie, Dean and a set of great parent club helpers painted the corridor to match the renovations that occurred this time last year in the Secondary corridor. The students are commenting on how bright and new it all looks. Thank you to everyone who helped. It was lovely to return to a school looking so clean and new.

School Social

Our SRC executive and committee are busily organising the School Social for next Friday night July 27th. They have listened to the student feedback and have arranged for it to be held at the Hopetoun Rec Reserve Footy Shed. It will be a great night for the students to socialise together in their themed outfits. Staff are also looking forward to assisting on the night and dressing up. A school event to look forward to.

Basketball CLP-

What- Our CLP is going to be a basketball tournament which raises money through a raffle and BBQ. The money would be going towards buying trees which will be planted around the new fishery. Our overall goal is to bring the community togeth-er to play an active sport and at the same time raise money for the new fishery and make it look more inviting.

Who- We are trying to bring all people of all ages in the community together.

When- This event will be held on the 8th, 15th and 22nd of August, which are Wednesday nights.

Where- We are holding this event at the school from there we will raise money to

plant trees at the fishery.

Why- Because we are all very keen on playing sports and one of our favourites is basketball. We think that having a close community is vital in any town, and one of the ways to bring people together is playing sport. This is a good way to keep us healthy, and at the same time allows people to enjoy socialising. We are putting the money towards the local fishery because we thought that if we raise money for the com-munity, we will get more participation.

WE NEED YOUR HELP School council has been working hard to beautify your school with a tremendous amount of work been completed already. This semester we are concentrating on in-stalling a new watering system and laying lawn on the front oval. These are huge jobs and require the assistance of some hardworking volunteers. Fortunately, some men have already put their hand up, but we still have 3 slots to fill. If you are able to gener-ously offer your help for a full day on any of the slots available please let Nicki Bellinger know on 50833203 or 0428 860530.

I thank you all in advance and look forward to our children and the whole community enjoying the benefits of our hard work.

Simon Cook

School Council President

SCHOOL SOCIAL Hopefully you’ve all started getting your costumes ready by now… make sure to purchase your tickets soon, as they won’t be sold on the night. You can purchase your tickets from the CAF at any lunchtime leading up to the social. Hope to see you all there!

As mentioned before the holidays, SRC have decided to re-vamp yet another event this year, this time, it’s the school social. We’ve decided to hold it at the Football Sheds this year, to help break the stigma attached to some events only being held on school grounds. The school Social will run on Friday July 27th (second week of term 3) from 7pm to 10pm.

We have decided to go for mixed themes this year and SRC have randomly selected letters out of a hat. Each year level had chosen their themes, as listed below:

Year 6 – S (Superheroes/Supervillains)

Year 7/8 – F (Anything beginning with ‘F’)

Year 9 – T (Anything beginning with ‘T’)

Year 10/11 – M (Met Gala)

Year 12 – R (Retro)

Teachers – B (Anything beginning with ‘B’)

Theme ideas will be put up at the end of this term/start of next term and if you have no idea, talk to your SRC Rep. or your friends.

Can you bring a friend? Yes, you can even bring along two friends, but your parents will need to sign a responsibility slip. Tickets will be available from the start of next term…

Individual Tickets (The student from Hopetoun P-12 College) - $10 Family (2 or More siblings who go to Hopetoun P-12 college) - $15 Bring-A-Friend (Student not from Hopetoun P-12 College) - $5

It would be much appreciated that if SRC members and teachers stay back and help clean up at the end of the night. It is common sense to find a bin when you have rubbish, so, we do encour-age that during the night for an easy clean up, thank you.

Hope to see you all there… great activities, great music and maybe a few prizes to be had.

Happy costume planning,

Maddy Cashill,

SRC Publicist
