Our Foundation was formed in mid 2002 by many families who had traveled to Ukraine and adopted beautiful children. Upon seeing the need of basic necessities of all the children in the orphanages in Ukraine, we formed this not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization to assist these children by providing food, medicine and living essentials to them. Won’t you consider joining one of our teams next year as we plan trips to visit our great ministries? Our Myanmar Christian Village continues to grow and develop! I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported this great project. It has been so heart-warming to see the excitement in the eyes of the children and their parents as they move into their new home. Three families currently live there and our village will continue to grow as we interview Christian couples who want to care for 20 – 25 orphaned or abandoned children. Our fourth house is under construction. Please pray for this great community as they bond together to provide a loving, Christian environment for children who are finding God’s love, hope and their eternal future. Thanks so much for helping rescue children from a life of desperate poverty, deprivation and abuse by supporting Hopeful Hearts Foundation. We are making a difference in their lives by introducing them to Jesus Christ and glorifying God by shining His light into the darkness across the world. Blessings and thanks, Bob Drane Executive Director Hopeful Hearts Foundation

Spring update...May 2016

This has been a very busy season for Hopeful Hearts Foundation. Our gala in February was a great success. The attendance was outstanding and donations and pledges will make a huge difference in our ministry outreach for 2016. Thanks to our outstanding sponsors and faithful donors who support our ministry year after year.

Recently, the Hopeful Hearts Board of Directors voted to “go deeper” with our current partners in serving the least of these. This means growing closer and becoming more familiar with the day to day operations of our supported ministries and walk beside them as they strive to care for more children who knock on their door. We also want to help their young adults prepare for independent living as they begin preparing for what God has planned for their lives. Please pray for these children as they step into adulthood, that they will remain close to God.

In February, Hopeful Hearts partnered with Dr. Tom McKechnie and Teach To Transform in leading our first short term trip to the southern part of India. We had a wonderful time getting to know everyone at the Peniel Baby Home in Madurai, India. We also taught medical lessons with adults and shared VBS stories with nearly 1,000 children at the local school. We conducted motorcycle repair at their vocational training center where twenty young men sharpened their skills in engine repair and maintenance procedures and are now better equipped to work on small engines. It was a great experience for all of us and we hope to go back next year and continue teaching and building long lasting relationships. The children at the Baby Home were precious and we loved spending time with them, teaching VBS lessons. The love of Jesus abounded as we saw the staff and children interact with each other in such gracious, loving ways. Praise God for this ministry that saves precious lives, in Jesus name.

Recently, a Hopeful Hearts Team spent a fun week with the children at FootPrints, in Sri Lanka. They loved visiting both the Boy’s and Girl’s Homes and joined in Bible studies and devotions and hosted a fun movie night, a trip to the beach and a very exciting Easter Egg Hunt! Our Myanmar Christian Village continues to grow and develop! I want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported this great project. Sri Lanka‘As for God His way is perfect..’ Psalm 18: 30

We met Hopeful Hearts for the first time in 2009, when Kathy and her team vis-ited us here in Sri Lanka. It was the beginning of something amazing and what can only be described as a Heavenly connection was formed between Hopeful Hearts and FootPrints. It was an instantaneous bond and we knew that the Lord had called us to work together to effect change in the lives of children.

From 2009 onwards, neither Hopeful Hearts nor FootPrints looked back and we moved forward with the vision entrusted to us. Hopeful Hearts visited us annu-ally, and each team brought hope and cheer with them, walking straight into the hearts of the children, who now look forward to their annual visit. During each visit, Hopeful Hearts evaluate and support our needs, by way of medical care, education and infrastructure facilities among others. This support enables us to offer better standards to the children, uplifting and motivating them to strive for higher levels of excellence, while growing in self-worth and confidence.

The team from Hopeful Hearts always spends much time with the children, involving them in many enjoyable activities. The love of Christ is reflected in their programmes and is a powerful message to us all. This year the team from Hopeful Hearts painted the two buildings which house the girls and the boys, in addition to conduct-ing an Easter programme and taking the children to an outing at a beach resort where they spent happy hours at the beach and the pool. There was also a, never before experienced, ‘Pizza evening’ spent watching a movie with a message that impacted both the children and the adults. While the children enjoyed all the outings, what they ap-preciated and loved the most was the time taken by the team from Hopeful Hearts to interact with them and make them feel important and loved.

Prior to the visit of the team, the children spent hours, preparing for an exhibition of arts and crafts. This was both an enjoyable and a revealing exercise that show cased the capabilities and strengths of the children. The girls made food items such as chutneys (which is a type of sauce that is very popular in the average Sri Lankan household), cup cakes and baked goods; art work such as hand made cards, purses, paintings on clay pots, fabric and glass; and stitched numerous items including pillowcases, night wear, blouses, skirts, dresses and shorts. Flower plants from the home garden managed and run by the boys were also displayed for sale, along with painted vases. As always, there were tears when the team from Hopeful Hearts had to leave, but there is always something to look forward to – their visit next year!

God’s ways are perfect, and what He begins He will establish and complete. Our association with Hopeful Hearts means much to us, and the friendship, advice and prayer support that we receive encourages us and strengthens our hearts and hands to accomplish the task entrusted to us by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Hopeful Hearts have given our children hope for a better tomorrow, and they give with so much heart that we are blessed in re-ceiving. For that and so much more, we thank our God upon every remembrance of you!

Hopeful Hearts trip to Sri Lanka March 28-April 7, 2016 The 10 days that our team spent in Colombo, Sri Lanka were filled with many priceless, life-changing opportuni-ties. The agenda consisted mainly of spending time with the kids at the Children’s Homes and building relationships with the people involved with Footprints Ministries. To witness firsthand how the Hopeful Hearts Foundation helps so many children in need is truly a blessing. One of the team’s missions was to spruce up the Girls’ Home and the Boys’ Home with a fresh coat of paint on the interior walls. What a difference it made in cleaning up and brighten the space! The children were eager to jump in and assist with the painting, which made for a fun and produc-tive project. They were excited to have improved their living space, and proud to take ownership as well.

Hopeful Hearts also purchased an oven with range top stove for each of the Children’s Homes while there. The kids had communicated a desire to learn to bake, and their current ranges were similar to cooking over a camp stove. The new ap-pliances will provide for better efficiency in their cooking and also learning opportunities for the children. The highlight of the trip was simply spending time with the children. Playing with them and getting to know each of them individually was incredible. Each child touched our hearts in their own special way. The day we took them to the beach to play was priceless. You would have thought we took them to Disney World! The fun they had in the pool just splashing around and being carefree kids is indescribable. It was evident that opportunities like that are rare for them, and they were so grateful. I’ve never been around such happy and sweet chil-dren. Footprints Ministries in Sri Lanka does such wonderful outreach and changes the lives of many. Hopeful Hearts’ part-nership with them has clearly been led by God, and the bless-ings that are in store have no boundaries. It will be exciting to witness all that God has planned for this amazing ministry.

Hopeful Hearts would like to say a BIG THANK YOU

to our 2016 Dinner Sponsors

Myanmar “ Joel Dwe, a pastor and friend called us and asked if he could send a 6 year old boy from Myitkyina on May in 2014. We told him that we did not have room and were over budget as we already had taken in several children and told him to send him next summer when some of our boys would start living in the transitional living home. We happened to talk with him in November, and Mercy and I were deeply saddened when he told us that the 10 yr. old boy died with malaria sickness. And we felt that we missed the chance to save that boy. As we heard that so many children become orphans as victims of civil fighting and so many children needed someone to depend upon, we began praying from then on, that God would graciously save the children who are orphans and vulnerable

little ones. And we feel God’s will to answear our prayer was with us after we read the Bible verse Isaiah 54:2 : “ Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide; do not hold back, lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.” Our home, and capacity for caring for children is very limitted and we have no room to care for more children as we are currently caring for 94 children in our home. And there were many times that we denied to accept children, and we even thought to print a sign and post on our gate saying “ accept no children” and felt

sad to deny children, who knock at our door. But, God has always better thoughts and plans to answear His children needs beyond our thoughts. I believe that this Myanmar Christian village for orphans is the answear that God has planned to save many children with our partnership of Hopeful Hearts. It is amazing and beyond our imigination to see how God guides and blesses Hopeful Hearts, to be able to establish this village project. And we are so pleased to see that 3 families with 60 children have already occupied the homes and have started their new and secured life by having a real home to be called “their home”, with a very promising future, as each family has started working on projects such as planting crops, farming pigs, and mushrooms on the village property. My continued prayer is that God will bless these families as they work by trusting God to provide their daily needs and all those children grow up in the way of our Lord, and for their lasting eternity. May God continue to bless those who aim and serve the Lord by prayer, and by generously helping with this project. “
