Our standards in society are different from God’s standards. We often rank people by what they have, how powerful they are, or how successful they are. Jesus reminds us that God will not judge us by the same earthly standards. When God asks you, “what have you done with the gifts I have given you?” How will you respond?

Safe Environment Training - Per the Code of Conduct for the Archdiocese of San Antonio, all adult volunteers in ANY MINISTRY, as well as employees and clergy must complete training either on-line (using Virtus thru the diocesan website) or on-site with a Virtus trainer. Interested in BECOMING CATHOLIC and/or RECEIV-ING SACRAMENTS?

Are you, or has someone you know expressed an interest in becoming Catholic?

Were you, or do you know someone who was baptized as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confir-mation and Eucharist?

Do you have or know a child over the age of seven who has not been baptized?

Do you know an adult interested in learning more about the teachings of the Catholic Faith?

We offer an opportunity to join a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church, and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter sea-son. There are separate sessions for adults, and children/teens. You are invited to share your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm accepting setting. C. A. F. E. (Catechism for Adults and Spiritual Formation) - this Sunday, August 25, during the CCD program. We will have our support program in the Catechism for Adults and Spiritual Formation for those families who have children in CCD, in particular, for whom their children will receive First Communion this year. This program is every Sunday from 10:45 am to 12:30 pm in the St. John Paul II Room.

THIS WEEK we begin the Bible Timeline scripture study! For those who have signed up, please meet in the St. James Parish Hall at 6:30 pm on your preferred night, August 26 (Monday option) OR August 29 (Thursday option). TWO identical sessions are offered each week – you do NOT need to attend both sessions. The full class schedule and all materials and will be handed out on these nights. Project Cool is a program initiated by Catholic Charities in coordination with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul to help relieve the concern of heat exhaustion within the senior popula-tion. Project Cool has been providing senior citizens and dis-abled persons with fans at no cost to help alleviate the summer heat. If you or anyone knows of a senior or disabled person that is in need of a fan, please contact Mrs. Hope Guevara at 830-672-2945 or come by church office with valid photo ID.

C. A. F. E. (Catecismo para Adultos y Formación Espiritual)- este domingo 25 de agosto, durante el programa de CCD. Tendre-mos nuestra programa de apoyo en el Catecismo para Adultos y Formación Espiritual para las familias que tienen a sus niños en el catecismo, en especial, para quienes sus niños recibirán la Prime-ra Comunión este año. Este programa es cada domingo de 10:45am a 12:30 pm en el salón St. Juan Pablo II.

ESTA SEMANA comenzamos el estudio de las Escrituras de la Biblia! Para aquellos que se hayan inscrito, reúnase en el Salón de St. James a las 6:30 pm en su noche preferida, 26 de agosto (opción de lunes) O 29 de agosto (opción de jueves) Se ofrecen DOS sesiones idénticas cada semana; NO es necesario que asista a ambas sesiones. Project Cool es un programa iniciado por Caridades Católicas en coordinación con la Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul para ayudar a aliviar la preocupación por el agotamiento por calor dentro de la población mayor. Project Cool ha brindado a los adultos mayores y personas con discapacidades ventiladores sin costo alguno para ayudar a aliviar el calor del verano.
