memorize an inspirational quotation about the virtue.

experiences such as service to the community and building relationships with others.
Parental Support:
Parents will focus on using the language of the Virtues Project, and spend specified hours
with the children working one-on-one.

Our goals will be met by following this daily routine:
• Starting the day with family prayers
• Learning about our virtue of the month
• Completing a daily activity (chosen in whatever order suits)
• Participating in a short lesson on the focus of the month
The following Monthly Review sheets (2 pages per month) give space to record what we do
each day, Focus of the Month, Special Events, and Notes about academic progress/ interests.
Weekday activities are as follows:
1. Introduction to New Month
• Sing school motto (“Strive” quotation)
• Write on the dry erase board: new virtue, focus and new questions
2. Birthday Calendar
• Look ahead at next month and make cards to mail
3. Monthly Volunteer Work
• Choose a place to volunteer in, call and set the date
4. Visit to the Library (get books about focus subject)
5. Virtue lesson
• Spiritual Treasure Box craft, several Radiant Hearts activities, songs
6. Appreciating Nature
• Seasonal craft, song, story, poem, nature poster and/or display
• Look in activity books for an outside activity/discovery/experiment
7. Singing
• “Fun Songs” folder, song books
• Voice exercises (ie copying scales, repeating made-up tunes)
• Compose new songs
8. Relationships
• Feeleez Book; dolls with situation cards; Learning To Get Along Series
• Using the conflict bridge
9. Mental Health
• Yoga
• Meditation (use book of exercises)
10. Culture Club
• Focus on a country; learn location on map, food, music, dress, language
11. Music
• Pick a card from the Instrument Box and watch videos of the instrument
• Listen to performances, read/listen to stories of composers

• Choice to make something of interest in any medium

• Choose three words to learn from dictionary, draw and write word for homemade dictionary

• Family Meeting Bag: RH devotions, update Family Prayer List

Focus of the Month: Service Project
• Explore the purpose of life through literature and interviews
• Remember those who have passed away (put up the tree of remembrance on Feb 1)
• Decide, prepare for, and execute a service project in the memory of the above

• Countdown to Ayyam-i-Ha: Starting 6 February do activity preparing for Ayyam-i-Ha
using the pocket wall calendar (make cards and/or presents for grandparents/family,
make decorations, prepare for celebrations, prepare for service project, etc)
• Ayyam-i-Ha: 26 February - 1 March. Children will receive a clue after morning
prayers to go on a treasure hunt to find one gift per day. Have a party for children to
invite friends. Offer an act of service as a family (prepared for this month’s focus).
• Valentines day: 14 February explore true love and show it to someone else

• Learn age-appropriate facts about the Baha’i Faith and the purpose of religion
• Learn about other religions, their places of worship, and Holy Places
• Learn about (and visit, if possible) other Baha’i communities; correspond with Baha’i
children around the world

• Month of Fasting: 2 - 20 March – add one flower on the Fasting Tree and discuss the
quote on the ornament during morning prayers. Eat as many dinners together as
possible (with candles at dinnertime), and say family prayers before sunset.
• Naw Ruz: 21 March Children are given a book as a gift with a message written on the
inside cover with something relevant to their age/stage for memory sake. (Wooden
letters and Fasting tree as decoration).
• Each family member to create personal goals for year, and review last year’s goals.
• Zavian’s Birthday: Parents and siblings to write “appreciation letter,” special
experience or a party, make a favorite meal for the family to have together, print
photos for birthday scrap book.
