Overview

The Salvation Army - a provider of Transitional housing in New Zealand.

Referrals - Work and Income, Corrections Department, NZ Police, mental health services, other NGO community organisations and self-referral. The clients who approach us for emergency housing have no other place to go.

These clients are rough sleepers, people sleeping in cars, garages, parolees, people on bail, homeless refugees, people who are dropped off by the Police and people who are affected by addictions. We house people who have been expelled from their normal residences either by Housing New Zealand Corporation, Council housing, private landlords or their families. We als admit to our emergency accommodation for older men who are not caring for themselves due to long term addiction and mental illness.

The Salvation Army are providing advocacy for changes in Housing for many years through The Social Policy & Parliamentary Unit Released reports such as State of the Nation, Hard Times, Homeless Baby Boomers and submissions to Governments.
