I was born in the Seattle area but we moved back to the Wenatchee Valley in 1970. I grew up in the country (around 39th St) in East Wenatchee. Of course, back then the country was anywhere north of the “new bridge” road. What got you into the business of real estate and what keeps you there? I started working in real estate when I moved to Bigfork, Montana in 1996. I had intended on starting a property management business within the year but instead went to work in mine and my husband’s businesses until we sold in 2004. I then entered real estate full-time as a sales agent. Getting started was a slow and a bit arduous process but by the end of my first year I felt grounded in the business and, based on my accomplishments, that first year I was awarded “Rookie of the Year.” The following years were interesting to say the least. I was selling in a predominantly second home resort market and when the economy took a turn we were hit extremely hard. But through it all, the enjoyment and fulfillment I receive from meeting new people (clients and colleagues alike) and assisting my clients with their housing needs keeps me in this career and loving it. What do you most like about living in this valley? Besides it being just absolutely beautiful, I love the continuity the Wenatchee Valley provides. Having left the valley for 25 years upon returning there is still an overall feeling that not much has changed over the years. Of course the closer you look there have been subtle changes but I feel the predominantly conservative nature of the Wenatchee Valley residents keeps our community grounded and our community’s well-being in tact. What is the most unique property you have ever listed/sold? Every property listing and sale is unique. I’ve listed and sold properties ranging from $50,000 to well over $5 million and each has been an experience unique unto itself because everyone one of my clients wants, needs, and motivation is unique. What do you enjoy doing when you are not working? My passion is travelling. I guess I was born with a bit of wanderlust in my soul and whenever I have an opportunity to satiate this soul I like to take it. However, real estate is a very time consuming career and it really is not an exaggeration if your Realtor says they work 24/7. So now my travel has to be carefully planned around clients’ schedules, inspections, closings, etc., and when I do get an opportunity to travel I try to guarantee I’ll have cellphone reception and internet access along the way. What tip would you give to someone selling/buying a home in this market? My tip: Call me, of course. (Every client’s situation is unique.) What is your favorite summer time beverage? Lots of water and iced tea and an occasional Boat Drink (Jimmy Buffett fans will understand). The share of home sellers who sold their home without the assistance of a real estate agent was 10 percent. Forty percent of those sellers knew the buyer prior to home purchase.

The primary reason that sellers choose to sell their home without the •assistance of a real estate agent to a buyer they did not know was that they did not want to pay a fee or commission (37 percent).

More than one-third of FSBO sellers took no action to market their •home, and 59 percent did not offer any incentives to attract buyers.

The typical FSBO home sold for $150,000 compared to $215,000 •among agent-assisted home sales.
