Living our Faith Offering
Offertory O Lord, Thou Hast Searched Me Eugene Butler
The Tower Hill Choir O Lord, Thou hast searched and known me. Thou knowest when I sitteth down, and when I rise up, Thou searchest out my path, and my lying down, and are acquainted in all my ways. Thou layest Thy hand upon me. Wonderful are Thy works, O Lord! If I ascend into heav'n, Thou art there! If I take the wings of the morning, Thou art there! I praise Thee for Thou art wonderful. I praise Thy name.
Scripture Matthew 3:13-17:
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be
baptized by John.14
But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?”
15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so
now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented.
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water.
At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.
17 And a voice from
heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” John 1:35-42:
35 The next day John was there again with two of his
disciples. 36
When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed
Jesus.38
Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?” They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
39 “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw
where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.
40 Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who
heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41
The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).
42 And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked
at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter).

*Hymn 475 Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing NETTLETON
*Prayer of Confession God of Glory, we confess that we have not sought Your face. We labor for worldly things and lack in spiritual gifts. We sacrifice much for false idols and forsake Your Holy Lamb. Forgive us; give us grace. Take away the sin of the world and teach us, as disciples, to show the wonder of Your love in Jesus Christ our Lord.
*Assurance of Pardon
*Creed from the Declaration of Barmen The Christian Church is the congregation of the brethren in which Jesus Christ acts presently as the Lord in Word and Sacrament through the Holy Spirit. As the Church of pardoned sinners, it has to testify in the midst of a sinful world, with its faith as with its obedience, with its message as with its order, that it is solely Christ's property, and that it lives and wants to live solely from His comfort and from His dedication in the expectation of His appearance.

Prayers of the People Our Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
