Motorcyclist killed in Deerfield crash22
DEERFIELD BEACH —
A 47-year-old Coconut Creek man who was headed out
to get something to eat died Saturday after his motorcycle
collided with a car making a left turn into a shopping plaza
on South Military Trail, said police.
Jeffrey Hirt was southbound on South Military Trail at
about 5:45 p.m. when he collided with the passenger side
of a Honda being driven by James Morin, 73, of Pompano
Beach, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Hirt was taken to Broward Health North, where he was
pronounced dead, said deputies.
Linda Hirt said her husband was an auto body technician
at Sterling Autobody in Pompano Beach. "It was his day
off, and on the weekends he just likes to ride his bike," she

Linda Hirt, who was out of town Saturday, said she talked
to her husband just minutes before he went out to get some
food.
Police said Morin was turning left into the Sawgrass
Promenade, in the 1300 block of South Military Trail,
when the crash occurred.
Hirt was a native of Blauvelt, N.Y ., who moved to South
Florida 21 years ago, said his widow.
Jeffrey and Linda Hirt had been married 11 years, she said.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his parents, Phil and Ursula in Fort Pierce; a brother,
Joe Ginise of Pompano Beach, and a sister, Jennifer Fromholz, of Walden, N.Y .
Funeral services are pending.
The incident remains under investigation.
