We hope you all enjoy!
Please watch: https://youtu.be/rbIqYwpq-JA
We would like to thank you Tracy for all of her time and effort in making this excellent resource for our learning pack!

Thursday – Writing Task 4 Starter-
Task 4 – Writing a letter for our school time capsule. Today and tomorrow you will be writing a letter that we can put into our school time capsule so that, in years to come, people will understand what was happening in our lives during this time of lockdown.
Time capsule letter - My learning in lockdown.
Write a letter to the person who opens the time capsule in the future.
Write about how things have changed with:
how you communicate with others;
your learning;
how you do your shopping;
what you do for entertainment.
Also try to include how you feel about these changes and what your hopes are for the future.
You can use the rainbow page to write your letter on.
If you would like your letter to be included in the school time capsule, please drop it off in the marked box outside of school.
Here is an example of a good letter. You can use this to help you to structure your ideas for your letter. It would be great to see lots of them appearing in the box outside school!

June 7, 2013
Dear Billy,
As you may or may not remember, I'm writing this to you from the past. As of
today, you are 20 years old and your whole future is ahead of you. I'm building this time capsule
as a way to remind you of who you were when you turned 20 and to give you a smile in 2043 on
your 50th birthday.
Do you remember all of the things you were doing at this age or what kind of a
place the world was? As I'm writing this, you're a college sophomore with big plans to declare a
major someday. I'm thinking about chemistry, but medieval poetry is also looking pretty
attractive. Let me know how my decision pans out for me! Classes are going well, and my grades
have all been pretty good. Everyone at home is proud.
I'm sure that by now you've got a wife and family; maybe even a grandkid or two.
That's why I thought it was important to congratulate you on your success and remind you of
what a ladies’ man you once were. Last night, you went out with Veronica Drake, the most
beautiful girl in your Shakespeare class. You definitely used a few of the Bard’s words to your
advantage.
Politics right now are interesting. The United States has its first African-American
president, which is a pretty big milestone. There's a lot of terrorism in the world, though, and the
economy isn't looking so great. Hopefully by the time you read this again, that will all be
straightened out. Technology is advancing every day! Smartphones are a big deal right now and
tablets are looking like the next big thing. Who knows what will come next?

Look at the poster image, are you aware of the protests currently taking place in America and in other
cities around the world? Many people are angry about the unfairness and mistreatment of how black
African American citizens are treated by the police and in other situations within their lives. They want to
raise awareness of racism and are trying to change the opinions and actions of others. As some of the
protests have turned violent, they have caused divided opinion. Some people believe that more peaceful
methods should be used to help educate and initiate change.

Many people in America feel the police and the justice system treat black people unfairly compared to how
they treat white people. African Americans are five times more likely to be sent to jail than white
Americans. Does this surprise you? Have you heard of the Black Lives Matters movement? The recent
protests have brought the ongoing movement to the forefront of peoples’ attention all around the world.
The movement campaigns against violence and racism and fights for equality for black people around the
world, starting in 2013.
