“Home, Craft & Garden Fair” July 10-11, 2017

SCHEDULE

Exhibits will be entered Monday, July 10, 2016, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. AND Tuesday, July 11 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. @ the Community Mtg. Room.

1. Open viewing of exhibits from 4 - 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11. 2. No exhibits may be removed before 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11. 3. Pickup is between 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11. If you are unable to pick up

the items by 6:30 p.m., then you can pick up items at the Extension Office during regular business hours.

1. Judging will be completed by competent judges from outside Anderson County. An individual may not judge the same department more than two consecutive years.

2. All classes are open to everyone unless a class specifies an age or specific requirement such as first time quilt.

3. Judges are not required to award blue, red and white in each category. All ribbons will be awarded on a merit basis. The decision of the judges is final.

4. Everyone, except department chairs and the assistants, must leave the building while entries are being judged and may re-enter when the exhibit opens at 4 p.m.

5. No person shall judge or assist the judges in any class in which he/she is exhibiting. 6. Prize money is awarded for each blue ($5), red ($3) and white ($2) except in

photography which is funded by The Anderson News. $15 for Best of Show per department except for photos. Premiums will be paid at the time of pick-up. Exhibitor must sign the form stating that they have received the correct amount of prize money.

EXHIBIT PROTECTION

1. The Anderson County Extension Homemakers will not be responsible for anything damaged, stolen or lost while on exhibit at the Home, Craft and Garden Fair, but will take utmost care to guard and protect the exhibits.

2. When the exhibit is open for viewing, official volunteers will be on duty to observe all the departments.

3. Exhibitors will not be allowed beyond the registration tables. No exceptions. If you don’t want fair workers to touch/move your exhibit, then please don’t enter the item.

4. Absolutely no smoking, food, or drink in area of exhibition.

JUDGING AND AWARDS

REGISTRATION 1. Competition is open to residents of Kentucky. 2. All exhibitors who have more than five entries are urged to pick up a registration sheet

and entry tags at the extension office prior to July 10. 3. Each exhibitor will be assigned an exhibitor’s number. Exhibitor will complete the

provided entry tag and securely attach it to each item. Completing the registration sheet and attaching tags to items before entering on July 10 will save a lot of time.

4. The claim check ticket should be retained by exhibitor and presented to the fair workers between 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11. If the claim check is lost and goods taken by other than owner, responsibility of the Anderson County Homemakers shall cease.

5. There may be only one entry per numbered class per person. If there is more than one item entered in a numbered class, then all that person’s items in that numbered class will be disqualified.

RULES

1. Items must be clean and in good condition. 2. Items may be entered in miscellaneous only if there is no other category for the item. 3. After entry has been submitted, if participant changes tag, the item will be disqualified. 4. Any article(s) winning a blue ribbon in the “Home, Craft & Garden Fair” cannot be

entered again. 5. All exhibits except antiques, collections, old quilts, vintage clothing and old crocheted

bedspreads should be made within the last 5 years, since July 1, 2012. Preserved foods must have been preserved in 2016-2017.

6. All articles exhibited in any class, with the exception of antiques, collections, old quilts, vintage clothing and old crocheted bedspreads must be entered in the name of the person who made or raised same.

7. In the Art Category, artwork must be original. No kits allowed. Ceramics must be handmade by the exhibitor. Green ware can be purchased.

8. Canned goods must be displayed in standard canning jars without rings or will be disqualified by the judges.

9. Flowers should not be displayed in valuable vases. The Anderson Co. Homemakers and Extension Office will not be responsible for them.

10. All ribbons won on articles in the exhibit hall must remain on same until checked out. 11. No food or other items may be sold out of Exhibit Hall. 12. Exhibitor may enter an item considered perishable in same category where they won a

blue ribbon previously. 13. Permanently attached labels must be covered so exhibitor’s name is not known. 14. Professionals are prohibited from exhibiting their wares.

RULES: Pictures must be mounted on cardboard, construction paper, frames, or on artist canvas to be judged. Painting/coloring by numbers or pre-drawn/commercial drawings will not be accepted, this includes produced coloring books. All work must be done by amateurs and done by the exhibitor. Canning will be judged on appearance of the pack, preparation, and selection of canned products. Entries may be in quart size or smaller, clean, standard canning jars with sealed lids. Please remove rings and do not attach any other cover. Jars should be labeled with name of canned good and date it was canned. There should be ¼ inch of headspace for jams/jellies; ½ inch for fruits and tomatoes; and 1 inch headspace for low acid foods like meat and vegetables. Failure to use correct headspace may result in disqualification and/or lower rating by judges.
