FALL is here! It’s already October and the 2019 Fall Parade of Homes is among us! Be sure to join us on October 5 & 6. Thank you to all who have entered a home into the Parade. If you missed getting a home in this Parade, watch for details of the 2020 Parade of Homes. We are working on next year’s event dates now. Be sure to join us for the October 15, social and election night in the Ballroom at the Alex Johnson Hotel at 5:30

p.m. We will hold the election of our 2020 officers at this event. I encourage any members that would like to become involved to start now by joining us at this meeting to cast your vote. Be a part of deciding who your 2020 officers will be. We will also hold our Scholarship fundraiser silent auction during this event, so be sure to join us. Mark you calendars for the November 8 State Board Installation and Awards night to congratulate Jay Mendel in becoming the 2020 SDHBA President; Dwight Eich who will be installed to the State Hall of Fame; Amber Irving who is receiving Associate of the Year, and our very own Jim Tolley who is receiving the State Lifetime Achievement Award. Thank you to all of these individuals for their dedication and service to the association and to the industry.

The traveling art fundraiser is a year-round silent auction that features quality artwork pieces donated to support the BHHBA Scholarship program. The BHHBA gives out two scholarships annually in the amount of $1,000 each to two deserving students, with preference given to members and member families, as well as to students going into a construction industry field of study. The traveling art silent auction fundraiser will continue through 2019.

The current traveling art exhibit features one piece. The artwork is named “Burst of Color & Rich Theme”, original handpainted artwork painted by Jakie Long. The current traveling art exhibit is on display at Med5 on 4956 5th Street until October 16. We are looking for additional locations to house this beautiful artwork. would like the Traveling Art displayed at your office or have a piece of art you would like to donate please call committee chair, Amber Irving at 605-484-7110. These pieces of art will be given away at the December Chirstmas Party at the Deadwood Mt, Grand on December 7th. If you have questions call the BHHBA office at 605-348-7850.

I can’t believe I’m saying it’s October already. The 2020 Membership Directory will be coming out soon. Please make sure and take the time to let us know if your contact information has changed in the last year.

Our September Social which was held at Sickies Garage. Was a new location well attended and a great success. Thanks to Med5 for being the Social Sponsor and Northwest Pipe Fittings for being the Beverage Sponsor.

SPIKE credits are earned by recruiting and retaining. NAHB

recognizes and rewards your membership development efforts

with a SPIKE Club awards program. Awards are earned

beginning with six credits and at increments of 25, 50, 100 etc. until the All-Time Big SPIKE

level is achieved at 1,500 credits. At 50d, 100d, 150d and

250d levels you can choose among several distinctive awards. To achieve SPIKE

status, you must earn six credits within two consecutive

membership years (November 1 through October 1) to retain SPIKE status, and become a

LIFE SPIKE, you must earn a minimum of one SPIKE credit

(new or retention) each membership year until you reach

a total of 25 credits.

The 2019 Fall Parade of Homes is almost here!! The parade dates are October5 & 6, and we are excited to have a lot of beautiful homes in many price ranges for viewing in this parade.

I want to thank all of the builders who entered homes in the Fall parade this year. It is a lot of work to get a home ready for the parade and we appreciate

all your time and effort.

I would also like to thank the 2019 Fall Parade of Homes Sponsors, Knecht Home Center, Builders FirstSource and GAF Building Products for their support of this great event!

We are doing BINGO again for this parade, so be sure to get your BINGO card and visit all the homes. We want to thank the Deadwood Gulch Gaming Resort for their BINGO prize of an overnight stay.

The Invites to get on board the preview tour bus will be coming out soon so watch for that email. We will be touring a few of the homes on the evening of Friday, October 4th. As always, the bus will be a lot of fun with food, drinks and games! Thank you to the bus sponsor, First American Title. The bus will leave Baken Park at

5:30 p.m. for the tour. The bus fills up quickly, and you must RSVP to ride, so be sure to get your RSVP’s in as soon as you see the email. The Fall Parade of Homes Guidebook are now avialable online, check our website for locations where you can pick up your free copy!

Tickets cost just $5 and will be available at any of the parade locations the day of the event, or at the BHHBA office in advance.
