HOMEAUTUMN WINTER 19

This time of year is as much about finding the joys in hibernation as it is entertaining friends and hosting parties. Bedrooms and dining rooms can be a riot of rich colour or

a tactile retreat. We know that our customers are prioritising staying in over going out, so we have produced pieces which draw inspiration from the latest designs found in the most

talked about restaurants and boutique hotels around the world.

We’re working to raise the bar even further in homes across Britain, giving customers new inspiration every season. This energy can be felt in our AW19 Home collections. Our in-house Design Studio team has grown to 28 Partners, and

they’ve created more outstanding own brand products than ever before. All 3,000 new products for AW19, have been

held against our vision to be known for design, integrity and value.

Our customers are embracing colour in most aspects of their lives, from fashion to interiors. We now aim to elevate this, by moving the look and feel in a new direction, taking

colours and offering ways to effortlessly layer them together. Predicting that for the first time ever coloured tableware will be as popular as white, we have created the largest change ever across tableware with 55% of the range new for the

season. We have also introduced 10 new colourways to our bed linen collection to make it our largest offering yet.

Ease is at the heart of our work here, the new plain linen bedding can be mixed and matched in any combination to

achieve a bold but liveable aesthetic.

Stand out design developments come in the form of a contemporary reimagining of the ‘70s favourite cane furniture,

and this season’s must-have the little black dining chair. Nearly three quarters of furnishing fabrics for the season

have been designed in the Studio and pattern can be found in abundance. The Composition Collection brings together striking geometric patterns with unexpected colour clashes across textiles from window dressing and rugs to bedlinens

and cushions - one of my favourites sees yellow tones given a new twist when mixed with lilac.

MODERN MAXIMALISM

An exciting arrival for the colder months is the saturated hues of orange and red which will bring warmth to any space. A celebration of contemporary

design, here colour takes centre stage as it is embraced across all surfaces. Layering plaster pinks adds depth to the rich reds whilst inky blues and soft greens

add a pop of colour clash for perfect discord. A carefully curated collection of 10 new bed linen colourways can be mixed and matched to effortlessly

achieve a thoroughly confident look.

For the bold and expressive, this colour palette works exceptionally well in entertaining spaces mixed with smooth velvets, natural wood and

metallic finishes. Shape and pattern give this look a framework, a mixture of tessellating shapes and perfect straight lines are gently challenged by

smooth lozenges and perfect spheres.

REFINED ELEGANCE

A new form of romance for the home, this combination of modern pastels and luxurious finishes creates an elegance that suits everyday life. Inspiration

from a mix of eras are layered in to this look, meaning that it can be achieved with just a few items as an update, perfect for those who are looking for a quick refresh. Velvet and marble continue to be key materials for the season but the

introduction of satin throws, mongolian fur cushions and painterly brushstroke patterns takes this look forward.

Moving away from the all white, porcelain dinner set, we are now mixing china to create a tablescape to suit any occasion. Introducing statement

pieces such as the White Bone Collection, a design from the John Lewis archives reimagined by the in-house team, allows customers to layer in

as much colour and pattern as they like.

CRAFTED RETREAT

Craftsmanship is at the heart of this collection, with quality design and materials at the forefront. The ‘Little Black Chair’ is predicted to be the

style icon of the dining room, with five new statement designs coming from the in-house design studio. The introduction of black wood is a welcome contrast, giving this look an updated feel whilst rattan, a timeless material, is paired with white washed oak in both the Rattan Bed and Cane Chair.

A focus on restoration and slow-living sees the return of soft minimalism. A celebration of warm neutrals, these buttery beiges take the place where white and grey once dominated. This softening tone works perfectly for

the colder months and paired with barely there pinks and blues gives a truly natural feel.
