Chapter 6

The Holy Spirit• The Holy Spirit moved among creation as the very wind,

breath, and spirit of creation.

• The power of the Holy Spirit also guided the Israelites forward.

• Through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus taught, healed, and worked miracles.

• prophet- someone who speaks on behalf of God, defends the truth, and works for justice.

• Messiah- means "Anointed One."

Pentecost

• Pentecost is celebrated 50 days after Easter. (marks the beginning of the Church)

• It is when the Holy Spirit came to Jesus' first disciples as Jesus promised.

• The apostle, Peter, told the crowds of people that Jesus died, rose, went back to his Father in heaven, and sent forth the Holy Spirit.

• As baptized members of the Church, we all have received the Gift of the Holy Spirit.

• The Holy Spirit helps us: - have a deeper understanding of the truth that Jesus preached and to remember all that Jesus taught. - also enables us to share Jesus' teachings and love with all people everywhere.

Holy Spirit

• The Holy Spirit is and always has been the life of the Church.

• As Catholics we constantly proclaim our faith in the living presence of the Holy Spirit.
