Harvest Moon Gala!

Please join the school community for this special adult only evening to raise funds for our school. Saturday,

November 5 @ 7:00 pm. The event takes place at the Markin MacPhail Centre at COP.

Lost & Found

Please check our Lost & Found displayed during the Parent Teacher Conferences. Items that remain

“unclaimed” will be donated 3 times a year: after December Parent/Teacher Conferences, after March Parent/

Teacher Conferences and end of June. We hope that will give your family more flexibility to check out the items

before they are donated. It will definitely help keep our school clean and orderly!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Progress reports will be sent home on Friday, November 25 at 3:00 pm. If you have any questions about your

child’s progress, please make sure you book an appointment with your child’s teacher during the Parent/Teacher

Conferences scheduled for Thursday, December 1 from 4:30 pm—7:30 pm and Friday, December 2 from 9:00

Monday, October 31 is a PD Day for all staff in the Calgary Catholic School District. Our District Faith Day is

Tuesday, November 1 for all CSSD employees. There will be no classes for students on these days.

Remembrance Day Liturgy

Mme Laurie-Anne and Mme Janice along with their students, are busy planning for our Remembrance Day

Liturgy which will be held in the school gymnasium at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 10. Please join us!

Special Lunches

Twice per month we have special fun lunches at school! If you’d like to order a special lunch for your child,

please log onto www.healthyhunger.ca and register to order fun lunches today! As always, we accept donations

for those students who may not otherwise afford to do so. You can make a donation directly when ordering your

child’s lunch on line through the Healthy Hunger program or to the school office. Your generosity is greatly

appreciated. Merci!

Individual re-take photos will be taken on Friday, November 4!

Cold Weather

Cold weather is coming!!! We expect all our students to go outside for recess and lunch. It is important that they

are dressed appropriately for rain and snow. The only time students will stay inside is when the temperature is

colder than –18°C or when it is pouring rain. We will be outside in light rain or when it is windy and cool.

Catholic Education Sunday

November 6, 2016 is Catholic Education Sunday, which is a recognition and celebration of the wonderful work that is taking place throughout the province in our Catholic schools. It is an opportunity to support Catholic education in our community, to ensure the continued success of our Catholic schools, and to promote the mission of Catholic schools to spread God’s message of love and peace in the world.

Our Catechism of the Catholic Church states that faith is a gift we receive from family and community, a gift nurtured by those around us and as receivers of faith we are called to hand it on to others. It is with your help that last year the Calgary Catholic Education Foundation gave $200 000 to students, kindergarten to grade twelve, for new initiatives and activities that are not government funded. We continue to support resiliency programs, library and learning stations, technology, Catholic leadership, health and fitness activities, to name just a few.

We have over 54,000 students attending our Calgary Catholic Schools! If each family, in the spirit of generosity, donated $5 for every child who is part of our life, together, we could make a significant difference in our children’s future.

Catholic Education Sunday is also an opportunity for us to share our spirit of generosity. On November 6, 2016 there will be a special collection at each Mass. Learning Commons

Coming to the Learning Commons from November 1-15th :

Robot Turtles (the board game for Little Programmers). This is a game to teach K-Grade 2 students the basics of Computer Programming!

Festival du livre!

French Scholastic Book Fair will take place in our school gym during Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday evening December 1 from 4:30—7:30 pm and on Friday, December 2 from 9:00—3:00 pm

Volunteer Opportunities!

Christmas is coming! A few festive volunteers are needed to set up the large Christmas trees for the students to decorate in the front foyer. Some heavy lifting is involved. Date and time is flexible during the last week of November.

Recycling - we are in need of volunteers to take the juice box recycling to the bottle depot on the last school day of the week in November and December.
