Eucharistic Ministers to the Home bound

Please consider becoming a Eucharistic Minister to the home bound. I am

currently in need of Eucharistic Ministers to distribute Communion to our growing number of home bound parishioners. If this is something you think you might like to do please contact me and I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. It truly is a wonderful ministry and we would love to have you be a part of it. I look forward to hearing from you! Please contact Beth at (608) 835-5763 ext. 123 or [email protected]. Thank you!

Are you Catholic—but not confirmed? Recently, on Pentecost Sunday (always 50 days after Easter) many Catholic adults throughout our diocese received the Sacrament of Confirmation—taking part in a first-time ceremony with Bishop Hying. What’s “first time” this year, however, is

becoming the new norm for the Diocese of Madison. And so: If you or a loved one are a baptized Catholic who has made your First Eucharist—and are only missing Confirmation among your sacraments—please contact Mary Lynn Hendrickson if you would like to prepare for the sacrament in time to be confirmed at Pentecost NEXT YEAR. Contact her at 608-835-5763, ex. 110 or [email protected]

Thank you for your continued support!

We want to serve you! We have a great group of middle school students participating in the Love Begins Here program on July 18-21. We are looking for service projects for them to do in the Oregon area! If you have yard work or outdoor work projects that need to be done or if you know someone who could use some help with some projects, please contact Becky Phillips soon to discuss how we can have a few middle school students and a chaperone come to serve you during our Love Begins Here week! We are ready and willing to be Christ’s hands and feet! We want to do small things with great love as St. Teresa of Calcutta inspires us to do!

High School Mission Trip to Nashville, Tennessee A group of high school students and adult chaperones from HMC will be heading to Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday to participate in Catholic Heart Work Camp for the week. They will be participating in a variety of service projects, inspiring evening programming, and meaningful prayer opportunities. Your prayers would be appreciated as they travel to and from Nashville and serve their community.

Church pandemic protocols ending June 11

As we know, Dane County’s masking mandate ended on June 2. The Diocese of Madison, in tandem, has chosen the date of June 11—the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus—to end nearly all of its own pandemic-related restrictions at the parish level. Therefore, THIS WEEKEND (June 12/13) we’ll be rolling out the following changes/accommodations here at HMC.

What’s CHANGING: ·Masking will be optional: for worshipers as well as liturgical ministers. Masks still provided at the entrances for those who need/want them. ·Return to (social distanced) self-seating: no seating by ushers, pews no longer blocked off. Worshipers will be expected to practice social distancing on their own. EXCEPTION: the Main Street side of the church will be set aside as a special area for those who still desire or require Covid-related precautions—alternate pews will still be blocked off, extra sanitation will be maintained, liturgical ministers for that side of the church will continue to sanitize/mask, etc. ·Pews no longer sanitized after Mass, except for some sanitizing in the special Main Street section ·Congregational singing will return, with some sort of book or worship aid to help you sing along ·Gathering Area, no restrictions: people can now congregate there as they wish ·Main Street entrance will be open again ·Return to various liturgical volunteer roles: Hospitality Ministers will be back, and we will also be needing gift-bearers again for Offertory What’s NOT CHANGING: ·Sign of Peace: no physical contact with other worshipers, outside of your own family/friend group ·Social distanced seating: as worshipers seat themselves, the diocese still asks that they maintain a safe distance from other groups/individuals ·Collection baskets will still be placed at each main sanctuary exit, even as we return to “passing the basket” during Offertory ·Mainstreet Side “Safe Seating” Area, as mentioned above. We will keep all previous Covid protocols active in this section of the church and ask that it be limited to parishioners who want or need an additional measure of safety—families with unvaccinated children, people with medical conditions that prevent their bodies from making Covid antibodies, etc. We will be monitoring the use of that area to determine when/whether these special accommodations should be continued or phased out. ·Live-streamed Mass (but Saturdays only): we will continue to offer an online option for participating in the weekend liturgy virtually—but only the 5:00 pm Mass will be live-streamed and its video made available for the weekend

One Year Ago…. …members of the 8:00 and 10:15 music ministries decided to embark upon a project to keep music going through these difficult times. Our singers, ringers, musicians, and Cantabile kids/parents stepped out of their comfort zones to join zoom rehearsals, practice at home, and learn the skills necessary to record performances on their own. Special thanks go out to Tom Kirchdoerfer and Ben Lokuta for jumping in with both feet to share their video and audio (respectively) expertise to this project. Now, forty+ recordings later, our singers and instrumentalists are looking forward to providing live music for our liturgies, starting June 20! Though the music ministry will transition from being “recording artists” to “live musicians”, we are thankful for the lessons learned from the experience and look forward to a future of “full and conscious participation” in the liturgy as the congregation is able to join us in song!

HMC Livestream Masses Due to the increased accessibility to vaccinations and declining COVID cases, we will begin livestreaming one weekend Mass only, starting next weekend. A link to this Mass will continue to be posted on the HMC homepage and rebroadcasts will still be available on the local cable access channels. Livestream broadcasts of special liturgies will be announced as they are scheduled.

GO MAKE DISCIPLES - What is “intentional discipleship”? Continuing with our new Go Make Disciples (GMD) topic this month, discipleship, we share a short (11 minute) video from the ever-popular Bishop Robert Barron on what it

means to engage in intentional discipleship. You can find the video by navigating HMC’s parish website, but you can also use this handy shortcut link—just type it into your internet browser’s address bar: https://tinyurl.com/BarronDiscipleship Contact Mary Lynn Hendrickson for any questions or resources concerning the diocesan “Go Make Disciples” evangelization initiative—and what all parishes in the diocese are being asked to do, in preparation. You can contact her at [email protected] or 608-835-5763, ext. 110.
