Parish News
Please notify the church office in advance of a surgery or
scheduled hospital stay so that you may receive the
Sacrament of Anointing. The Church has always prayed
for the sick to be freed from pain and restored to health.
This sacrament originated in the healing ministry of
Jesus. An anointing may be scheduled before or after a
Mass or during the week.
Holy Martyrs is excited to be part of the first-ever We Give Catholic online day of giving, coming
up on #Giving Tuesday, November 29th
to let our parish family and friends contribute in a special
way to support our programs for children and youth. All the funds raised stay in our parish and
will make possible new technologies in our classrooms, new programs for our students and
dynamic opportunities for our teens. It will also help make possible new opportunities for adults
to grow in their faith.
Find out more by visiting WeGiveCatholic.org (https://wegivecatholic.org/designee/holy-martyrs-
church) or our website (www.holymartyrs.net)
#GivingTuesday is a global movement on the Tuesday after the Black Friday and Cyber Monday
to kick off the charitable giving season.

SMALL GROUPS MINISTRY UPDATE
Small Groups continue to meet weekly and enjoy their
discussions on prayer and the ways that we communi-
cate with God and the ways that he speaks to us.
Members of Small Groups are delighted with the new
insights they are gaining and the new friendships they
are forming through participating in a small
faith-sharing group.
We will welcome additional parishioners to register for
our new 6-week series which will begin in January. For
more information about our Small Groups Ministry,
please contact Nancy Fiamingo:
Please continue to pray for this ministry
and especially for our Small Groups leaders!
Holy Land Carvings are back!
Holy Land carvings have been
popular at Holy Martyrs for many
years. The sale of Holy Land carv-
ings will take place on the week-
end of November 26 & 27 in the
Gathering Area. Bishop Lennon
has designated Suhair Musleh as
the official vendor of the Holy Land carvings. Because of
the conflict in the region, many Christian families in
Bethlehem are struggling to make ends meet. Holy Land
Gifts represent over 100 Christian families who make a
living selling traditional olive wood handcrafts and reli-
gious articles. When you purchase one of these beautiful
gifts, you are helping artisans in the Holy Land provide
for their families and live and work with dignity in a re-
gion fraught with tension. Thank you for supporting this
project to keep the Christians present in the holy land of
Jesus’ birth.

SAINTS
Wax Museum
GREAT job to our saints and their presentations.
Thank you for taking responsibility for presenting a
Saint to the children in PSR.
What do we as Catholic parents want for our children?
We want our children to be happy, healthy, and grow in their faith. We want our children to have a strong set of morals
and ethics. We want them to grow to be loving, caring, responsible Christians. Above all, we want them to have a deep,
personal relationship with God and one day be a saint in Heaven.
How do we nurture faith in our children? Are we the best role models we can be? Do our children witness our own prayer
life and our own desire for a relationship with God? Do we attend Mass and live a sacramental life filled with God's grac-
es? Do we read the Bible in our homes to learn of God's amazing love for us? Do we actively teach the Gospel message by
our example or do we just they learn of God’s personal love for them along the way?
We know the necessities; food, shelter, clothing and love, but do we give them a strong faith foundation? Just like food
and love that helps our children grow into healthy individuals; do we help our children grow in his/her faith with our Lord?
Do we take them to weekly Mass and religious education? Do we say daily prayers and read from our Bibles? Do we speak
openly about our faith and celebrate the sacraments? Xboxes* and American Girl Dolls* come and go, but our faith in the
Lord is for eternity.
