Holy Happenings
LENT 2017 MESSAGE SERIESThe word “Lent” comes from the Old English word “lencten” which means lengthening of days. In this season it is commonly associated with the lengthening of day light and the return of new life in the season of spring. In Christian faith Lent is the 40 day season beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 1 this year and continuing forty days, excluding Sundays until Easter Day, which is April 17th. Lent is always a season of preparing ourselves for the celebration of Easter. In order for us to prepare we will share in a special message series this Lent called “The Lord Who…” We will focus on the behaviors of Jesus that inform our faith and help us to live our faith with integrity and light.

Community Action, Inc. of Rock
and Walworth Counties operate the Twin Oaks Shelter for the Homeless
since 1992. Most of the residents come from Walworth County, and are often individuals or families without housing due to a
crisis in their lives such as loss of employment, family violence, fire or medical crisis.
Our monetary donations, coins, cash or checks, help them pay for utilities, repairs and professional staff. Thank you for
your generosity.Hope Now, Inc.
We continue to support the efforts of Hope Now, Inc. A little set back – our social worker has had to resign because of health issues. They are now searching for a replacement. If interested in a part-time
job, you can contact Rev. Scott McCloud, Congregational Church at 723-3246.Elkhorn Food Pantry
There was a nice collection of your pantry favorites in the shopping cart this past month. Our collection for March will be salt and pepper, any size, from shakers to larger containers. This
seems like an unusual collection, but it’s very often needed.Cash donations and other items are always welcome.
