Health Ministry: Common Pains of Aging Ache somewhere? You’ve got lots of company, especially if you’re an older adult! Lower Back Pain: Strikes in 30s/40s. If under 50 with no back injury, the pain is likely due to long stretches of sitting. If older, likely due to conditions like arthritis. Headaches: Strikes between 20s and 50s. Cause may be muscle tension, dehydration, menstruation, weather changes, certain foods. Osteoarthritis (OA): Strikes in 60s and 70s. Cartilage between the joint and bone breaks down, especially in the hands, knees and hips. Tendinitis: Strikes over age 40. Inflammation of tissue band which connect muscle to bone. The more you move the more pain. With arthritis it's usually painful to get moving. Carpal Tunnel: Strikes 40s to mid 60s. The nerve that runs from the arm to the palm becomes pressed or squeezed, often due to repetitive motion, arthritis, or family history. Muscle Strain/Pain: Increases each decade. Muscle fibers become less dense which makes them less flexible and more prone to injury.

"Age brings wisdom, but pain brings understanding."

Introductions to Readings by Bishop Ken Untener, in collaboration with Catherine Haven and Fr. Bill Taylor First Reading - Wisdom 2:12, 17-20 The book of Wisdom was written about 50 years before Christ, and was addressed to a group of Jews living in Alexandria, Egypt. In this pagan environment, some were tempted to abandon their religious beliefs and practices. In today’s passage, an unidentified person, referred to as the “just one,” challenges them to remain faithful to their traditional values. Early Christians thought this person sounded a lot like Jesus. Second Reading - James 3:16 ― 4:3 Today we continue a series of readings from the letter of James. This part of the letter deals with sins that threaten harmony in a Christian community.

A History Chat with Tony Krizan World War II Aircraft & Pilots Monday, September 24th Bishop Fenwick High School 3:30 PM Admission Free - Open to All Ages! Author, actor, columnist, aviation buff, avid hiker, lecturer, and Fenwick alumni, Tony Krizan ‘57, presents another lecture and slide show on the famous World War II pilots and their aircraft. This slideshow will feature pilots and aircrafts from Allied Nations plus those adversaries from the European and Pacific Theaters. You’ll be introduced to those young men, whose ages averaged between 19 and 26 years, who defended our great nation against the aggressor. Not only were they skilled at their craft, they flew the aircraft designed and built by those who believed in the same cause. Tony will also feature German and Japanese pilots and their aircraft. Hopefully you will realize that they were men also fighting for a cause they believed in. Their intentions may have been sincere, but they were on the wrong side of the fence. Please join us to view this historic portion of American history. It was these pilots’ dedication and knowledge that opened the door to our nations’ greatness. Let’s not let this generation be forgotten in time!
