PARISH EVENTS & NEWS – THIS WEEK

LETTER FROM FR. TOM: As many of you already know,

we have a seminarian staying with us this summer. His

name is Patrick Costello. Every seminarian spends time

working in a parish before ordination in order to gain parish

experience. Patrick will be ordained a deacon this fall and

will be ordained a priest next summer. It has been a great

experience so far. We have been giving him a variety of

training experiences which have prompted many questions

from him. He has learned to be a sacristan and to serve at

our parish Masses. He has led a funeral vigil. He has

given reflections before Mass. When I need to anoint a

parishioner, Patrick goes along. He has even been part of

marriage preparation meetings. He has spent time with

each of the staff members learning about their roles in the

parish. Patrick has learned a great deal.

However, this is a two way street. Not only is he

learning from us, but we are also learning from him.

Having spent the last three years studying theology, he is

filled with wisdom which he is excited to share. Over the

past few weeks, Patrick has taught classes titled “What is

Theology?” “Holy Trinity,” and “Jesus Christ.” It is such a

great opportunity for our parish to have Patrick offering

these classes. They are like mini-retreats to help us learn

our faith. The classes take place every Thursday evening

at 7:15 after adoration. You can attend live and in-person

so that you can ask questions and receive the handouts or

you can watch on Facebook Live. This week, Patrick is

speaking about creation and what it means to be made in

the image of God. It is such a blessing and privilege to

have Patrick with us this summer. I hope that you and your

family are able to take advantage of his talks. If you have

the opportunity, introduce yourself to Patrick. Having a

seminarian with us is also a great reminder for us to pray

that young men from our parish will discern and accept that

great invitation to become a priest.

Peace, Fr. Tom Pomeroy

Parish who is a quilter? The CMLS is looking for

someone to donate a quilt for our Bazaar Raffle

that will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

Please contact Paula Freimuth, 920-860-6682, for

more details.

OUR SEMINARIANS NEED YOUR HELP because our

received a letter from Bishop Ricken requesting your help

in supporting our local seminarians. Please return your

generous contribution to this collection, using the pledge

card and return envelope you received in the mail. A gift of

$15, $150, $515 or more will help our seminarians move

forward in their work of becoming missionary disciples.

Every gift makes a difference. Our seminarians are our

Hope for the Future. Let us Help them Today! As a

Diocese, we anticipate costs of $1,000,000 this year for

tuition, room and board, health insurance, support of the

Office of Vocations and the work of Fr. Mark Mleziva and

Fr. Adam Bradley. Friends and followers of Jesus support

one another! To make your gift today, visit

www.catholicfoundationgb.org/give. Next weekend, Patrick

Costello will speak at our Masses so we can hear about his
