THE WORD

First Reading: Jeremiah 31:31-34

… I will place my law within them and write it upon their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people…. All, from least to greatest, shall know me, says the Lord, for I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sin no more.

Second Reading: Hebrews 5:7-9

In the days when Christ Jesus was in the flesh, he offered prayers and supplications with loud cries and tears to the one who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered; and when he was made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.

Gospel: John 12:20-33

“...Amen, amen, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life….The

Father will honor who- ever serves me…. Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it and will glorify it again.”

The inner word: What’s in Your Heart? Today’s Focus: Suffering, Saved

As we stand at the threshold of Holy Week, which be-gins next Sunday, we hear once again that life will have times of trial, but in Christ we are assured that the trial is not our final future.

How have you experienced God’s intimate love in your life?

When has God’s mercy freed you to be more merciful with yourself or others?

If you experience any personal injury on church property, please make sure you call the office or speak to Fr. McGuirk.

Please note that while the church is not decorated during Lent, Easter Flower donations are welcome and are now being taken. There is no sanctuary candle during Holy Week; however, donations for Easter and be-yond are welcome.

Dear Parishioners, If you would like to see the images used in my previous DLA presentation, please visit our parish website: www.holycrossyoungwood.org When you get to the website, go to “Parish Life”; click on “Church Upgrades” to view the images. If you have misplaced your en- velope from the diocese, envelopes are avail- able in the pews. I thank everyone who has already donated. I also thank all those who are still praying about their generous donation. And I thank God, especially, for all of you.

P.S. Finance Council is presently meeting to study all the issues presented; and they are receiving bids for work to be done. All decisions are pending Diocesan approval.
