COMMUNITY AND DIOCESAN NEWS

Dear Holy Cross Parishioners, When our ancestors came to the U.S. from Europe, they came to a country with doors that were open to them regardless of their ethnicity or religion. The theme of opening doors has always been a part of my family’s business model. When I was in college seminary, we took secular courses at Slippery Rock. Dr. Fair loved to tease me because he knew I was in the Catholic seminary. He would very loudly say in class, “Mr. McGuirk, should you become Fr. McGuirk, how will you go about turning stair-cases in your churches into ramps and turning older restrooms into ADA accessible restrooms?” He demanded both imagination and factual presentation in response. Forty years later, with your economic help, I am fulfilling my promise to Dr. Fair and my classmates here at Holy Cross R. C. Church in Youngwood. God bless you for your generosity to the DLA. Father McGuirk

With joy and thanksgiving to God, the Dio-cese of Greensburg announces that Bishop Edward C. Malesic has called Mr. Mark R. Dunmire to the responsibility of the diaconate. The diaconate ordination will be celebrated on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 10:00 am in Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greens-burg, Pennsylvania. Please keep Mark in your prayers as he makes the commitment to enter into holy orders and continues on his journey to the priesthood, and please continue to pray for all those who are discerning God’s call to the priesthood.
