HOLOCAUST/GENOCIDE EDUCATION

"WORLD MAP"

The Holocaust/Genocide/Massacres/Atrocities

This world map provided to you by the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education isrecommended for middle and high school classrooms. The outcomes listed below will assist thestudents in meeting a portion of the Holocaust/genocide education mandate.Objectives:

• Students will be knowledgeable of atrocities, genocide and the Holocaust which haveoccurred world wide.

• The students will be able to identify on the map current genocidal events and those that havehappened within the past years.

The methodology may include using the map for discussion and/or for adding other sites whereatrocities or genocide have occurred.

The assessment may include determining the student's knowledge relative to:

• Relationship of atrocities and time lines• Similarities and differences regarding atrocities• Understanding of those atrocities identified on the map• Description and understanding of recent atrocities added to the map

Thank you in advance for utilizing this project and thereby aiding in the fight against the evils ofbigotry, intolerance and prejudice, as they relate to the Holocaust and genocide, wherever andwhenever they exist.
